1:18:46 That noise is the "notification" that your tip-up has caught a fish. As far as I can tell, and experienced, it occurs every time you leave an interior and you are within a certain range of the tip-up.
I recently started my very first Voyager run ever. I've played the long dark for about 2 years now on pilgrim. I've watched many Interloper and Stalker series for even longer. I've never actually put all my knowledge to the test but you and a few others have given me the motivation to give it a try. I was attacked by 2 wolves on day two but besides that im doing good.
Wonderful you are doing a stalker run Zak, and very happy you have toned down the reference to interloper and how easy it is for you. I still play Voyaguer. Am following this series and learning a lot. Thanks Zak.
This dude deserves so much more than he has, this dudes dedication and knowledge of this game or anything else he does is what makes him so entertaining in my opinion. Love the videos man. I've learned how to play this game solely from you. It's now my favorite game to play when I actually get time for it.
It's fun watching him actively get better at killing things with the revolver. Something that works for me is crouching first before aiming at the wolves, better direct line of sight at their face/head.
I discovered your channel last week and have been binge watching the Stalker Mastery series. All your tips and information are very helpful, plus your voice is calming. I've subbed and joined Discord. Looking forward to watching more of your great videos.
So funny for the cloth in the Riken you could have used instead of going back to your base. And that extra crowbar could be an additional scrap metal if you don't plan to collect them. And you're such a good shot, you keep one shooting moose and bear !What a way to end the video with a stim find !
It would be interesting for gameplay if we have to go to toilet. Imagine u have to pee, but get attacked by wolves, the Survivor gets scared and makes his trousers wet. Or you have to poo, but a bear says hello to your upcoming session. Thats true survival! :)
I think long term at desolation point it would be still fine when you run out of bullets cuz you can use torches and fire to ward off wolves without having to kill them all and you can still use bow
Hey Zaknafein, really enjoying your videos. At 1:18:49 you hear a noise and ask what it is. I’m pretty sure that’s the fuel in your lantern sloshing around as you move. I used those old lanterns as a kid and I remember hearing similar sounds. But I haven’t played TLD for a long time - other folks are saying it’s a fishing notification? Man, Hinterland is always adding stuff. I should get back into it.
I have been able to recover shot flare shells from dead bears and reuse them. You should check the wolf for the shell. See if they are reusable with wolves too.
Yes, the new shell is usually hovering in mid-air where the carcass was and you can grab it. If it's on the ground I have been unable to pick it up. Provided you always one-shot the bear you will run out of distress pistols before you run out of shells. I'm making the most of this phenomenon while it lasts! 🙂
@cliffball4478 I noticed the same with my misses. They seem to despawn after a day or two. I didn't think about quartering the carcass to get them back if they fall on top of the flare.
Hey ZAK great as always love ur videos. And the noise u keep hearing u can't figure that's ur tip-up Everytime u go inside and back out u will hear ur tip ups no matter what building u go in out of. As long tip up is active u will hear that noise
Hi what's is the difference between interloper vs Stalker?which is more difficult? and on Interloper: how many days we need wait for respawn coal in the mine gathering ,all animals after killing and disappearance of the carcass, wood after harvesting Thank for all comment!
On interloper, the ressources for food decreases and it gets colder and harder to survive over time. On Stalker its just more difficult with loot, and much more wolves than other difficulties.
While it's true that the Interloper setting for fatigue is "easier" / more forgiving, I sometimes think maybe Hinterland was actually trying to make it harder to heal(due to "rest as a resource" shortening sleep durations.) I've seen a lot of newer Interlopers have trouble getting tired enough for the efficient 10-hour sleep heals(more experienced players tend to be better at sprinkling some sprinting throughout the day to ensure they get tired enough.)
Just an idea with the new dlc regions. Having a main base in great bear regions but having a separate main base infar territories. Like transfer pass, even though there is no work bench. Just because of the distance, especially with the new region coming soon.
I recently played tld for the first time on the Nintendo switch version. I got attacked by a wolf which made me bleed, which made me smell, which attracted another wolf to attack me
I have a question for you Zak, if you have the rabbit trapper badge activated. Do you still have to worry about over trapping in your area or can you continue to trap rabbits regardless of physically seeing them there or not??
Yes, I do. Well, høyskole to be precise :) I'd rather not say which one publicly, but if you suspect I taught you, you can always DM me on Discord and ask.
Zak, how many days can you wait before hitting the summit before things start to be ruined? I’m pretty much always hitting summit before day 10 so I’ve never experienced ruined loot up there personally
You can get up there well past day 100 and be fine. Some things might be ruined depending on starting condition. On my old loper run I went there on Day 83 or something and it was all fine.
41:42 curious as to why you used your bedroll when there are beds another 15 steps into the ship. I know the deterioration isn't that much for a nights sleep, but all adds up. 56:30...I can't be 100% sure, but in my experience I think that you're fine with the wolf just detecting you. The wolf, WILL however attack if you pass time after the initial "WOOF - I SEE YOU - IMMA EAT YOU"
i can tell you what u still missed and still didnt search, up that secret climb in the tunnel, u didnt check the box above your head where are the opened mrs....
The main appeal is the simplicity and beautiful art style. I do agree that some mechanics could use some touching up on. I would like to see more passive animals, like beavers or squirrels to populate the world. Maybe adding some sort of lighter or friction firestarter that isnt finite, similar to the magnifying lens.
⬇ Petition to add “Zak’s Snacks” as an official item into the game
This has to be the top comment
I would add my name to that petition!
Me too@@marygatdula2744 !

Nah, change Zap energy bars to Zak energy bars. It's only one letter and who doesn't like Zak's energy.

Bait is smelly. Do the drop test when a wolf or bear has scented you. It doesn’t show on the smelliness indicators, like a few pies.
Was gonna say exactly that. 🙂
Thanks for the vid Zak! I have learned a lot from watching your videos ❤
My dog passed today, I’m glad after a very long emotional day I can lay down and watch your vids and forget about my problems for a while.
Sorry to hear about your dog. Hope you are well.
@@Zaknafein thank you
ANOTHER MOVIE!!!!
Me and my Wife fall asleep to your videos!! We will be watching a backtracking for the next 3 nights 😂
Wonderful you are doing a stalker run Zak, and very happy you have toned down the reference to interloper and how easy it is for you. I still play Voyaguer. Am following this series and learning a lot. Thanks Zak.
I think the "ploink" sound is related to the tip up having a fish.

Babe wake up Zak dropped another video
1:13:20 A moose with one arrow. I guess that is my goal🫢
Awesome episode, loving a stalker series. Can’t wait for the next one
that forge looked like a Dalek from Dr Who in the distance
If you make a wolf coat, won't you need extra hides to repair, or will you just upgrade to a bear coat asap. Nice shot with the moose, bow envy 😂. Jo

44:17 Hey Zack! I think the prybar is the best item to break the ice I usually use it to do so and it doesn't take much hit on condition
I am happy that you are staying in one region. I like a series that has a different feel than the normal opening blitz.
1:24:40 I think that Boink sound is your water bottle shaking, while your were running downstairs 😄😄
Moose in the cold open - I love it!

Great content, happy new year fellow survivors 🎉🎉
Bait does add smell just not a stink line. Kind of like the pies. Try carrying 1 bait and watch a wolf start looking for you then drop it.

Interloper has no weapon spawns, and no knife or hatchet spawns either. That's the main difference
You make me look like a chump. Stalker for me is no walk in the park like you make it out to be
been playing this game for 3 years, got platinum trophy on ps4 and never knew you could make ice fishing holes
Because it’s ne and come with the update in September
Thar is a dolly in-between hiderodam and winding river
Concur it's nice to see some stalker
51:43 (Moving while using the revolver) - There is a mod for that!
Good job
Reallly enjoying this run!

Clean shot on that moose B)

It works regardless :)
@@Zaknafein oh WOW! Looks like I'm going for that badge next...
What does over trapping mean in this context?
I hope you don't mind me asking, do you teach at a university in Norway? You sound so much like one of my recent teachers! Always great lectures
Yes, I do. Well, høyskole to be precise :) I'd rather not say which one publicly, but if you suspect I taught you, you can always DM me on Discord and ask.
To much stuff is an interesting problem to have in a survival game.
Use the extra crowbar instead of the hammer and leave it by the tip up :)

Batman owes me a favour
How do you make more bullets?
Use the ammo bench in Bleak Inlet or Blackrock
@@Zaknafein ok thanks :)
I know you don"t like mods, but there is indeed a mod that fixes being stuck when pointing with a revolver, which is really a stupid implementation.

comment for the algorithm
Stalker feels like cheating after playing loper
so you dont have any clue about TLD!
Those ads are terrible 😢 I'm trying to fall asleep to your video as usual and now there are ads in the middle. Ads are much louder and startling
Yeah, RUclips took away control so not much I can do :/ Sorry its distracting.

What's the point of this game and why does it lack so many survival skills?
What, specifically, do you think is lacking? As for the point of the game - there isn't one. Just survive, that's it.
@@Zaknafein Different fire starting methods, different tools, building capability, etc.
@@asuraphreak in my opinion, what makes this game great is the lack of these things. It is meant to be hard and limited
@@Zaknafein I guess. For me it's weird though cause I am Canadian and I have done survival courses. I'm also autistic so it could just be a me thing.

yeah, sometimes mapping is a bit annoying. Another example is Frozen Delta in BI - made me read Wiki to figure it out xD
🥸Thank you Professor.💚 I have been having a much better time with timber wolves. Meaning they are not killing me rather I am defeating them.
