For the final week before Halloween reactions start, I’ve decided to release Geoff’s amazing and super fun version of “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book. I think Geoff does a brilliant job by making the song his own while adding some glorious bassiness! Please enjoy :)
@PeterBarber please would you react & review "Blackbird | The Beatles | Bass Singer Cover" by Geoff Castellucci"?
This is such a happy, feel good type song from geoff. Can't help but smile when you watch it 😊
Geoff has said this is one of his favourites and I think it comes through how much he is enjoying himself. I’m no expert of singing but your analysis was great
I love this 1967 Disneys The Jungle Book. I saw it in the theatre when I was 13. With Halloween coming you really need to react to his Headless Horseman.
His creativity is what's so impressive, apart from the voice. Whether in VoicePlay or alone, his arrangements are more than impressive. If you haven't yet, check out VoicePlay's Hoist The Colours. He does talk about his comfort zone in his videos about how to sing low, or very low. And he's so much fun. He uses a guitar plug in on Country Roads too.
peter yr expression whn geoff is singing is priceless... its like u know wht trick th magician comesup wth next....
I'm so glad you reacted to Bare Necessities! I think this one gets a little overshadowed by his more recent covers, but it has a special place in my heart because this appearing across my RUclips dash one day is what introduced me to Geoff first and then later VoicePlay. One thing about the southern accent you mentioned around 8:30 - I've noticed that Geoff either lets his native Virginian accent out or exaggerates it more with some of his solo stuff. You hear it in this, Mele Kalikimaka, Country Roads and HotRS (probably others, but those are the ones where it really stood out to me). He seems to mask it almost completely in his stuff with VoicePlay, and you only hear it in the odd word when he's speaking.
Would love to hear your reaction to Hoist the colours, the last Voiceplay release. Its breathtaking.
I'm so impressed with the amount of knowledge you put into these reactions. It's a great breath of fresh air compared to other people just watching a video and making faces. Keep up the great work
Please, Peter, do "Hoist the Colours" next! It's really great! 🏴☠️🔥🤯
Phil Harris singing this was one of my favorite parts of the '67 film (I was 12!). Geoff more than did it justice. Thanks for your usual comprehensive analysis.
I really enjoy hearing your insights. It gives me a whole new appreciation for the songs.
Peter! I think you also must watch and analize the cover of Home Free "Your Man" (Josh Turner), where Tim gifts us and to the world his wide and crazy vocal range: he goes totally bass and totally tenor in a fly. And also its super interesting to make an analysis from someone who is a professional in music/voice field. From Spain, lots of hugs! :)
My favorite of his are high and dry, and black bird
Great Reaction to one of Geoff's early solo works. Please do a reaction to Hoist the Colours by Voice Play. Stunning arrangement by Geoff. Guest singer is Jose Rosario, who was in My Mother Told Me. Love to hear your analysis. You do such a nice breakdown of the technical vocal work.
Planning to for one of my Halloween specials 👻
@@PeterBarber I’m looking forward to that
"Brother in arms" from Home Free is i believe also a really good one to cover!
Amazing analysis as always, love watching these. I missed it at first been so busy, glad I got to play catch-up. I love this arrangement by Geoff, it sounds so amazing and is a very nice piece. He definitely could play a new Baloo perfectly
Voice play little mermaid medley. That’s a banger
I would love to see you react to Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by pentatonix, Avi really gets to show his classical training in it and it sounds amazing. They won one of their many grammys from it!
Great video! I’ve seen a couple of your other videos. Just subscribed. Geoff actually did an interview about 3 months ago when he said he likes to record in the mornings and evenings.
There's a song called "I can't outrun you" sang by Home Free and Adam Chance leads the crap out of it.
It's a bass-heavy, song so I really would love you to take a look at it!! Such an underrated song.
I like the "simplicity" of this arrengement. I honestly was expecting something crazy to come up rather than only super low notes. Anyways, it's awesome.
Very enjoyable reaction/analysis Peter! I never heard of that editing theory that you stated about that one G1. But it does makes sense. Looking forward to your Halloween reactions!
love that you enjoyed the BARBERshop intro Geoff made :) great reaction as always!
Might I suggest also looking at his cover of 'The headless horseman', as well as Voiceplay's 'Little Mermaid' medley, plus Home Free's 'Butts medley', 'country-fried pop medley' and cover of 'End of the road'.
It's crazy how easy he makes these G1s sound. I can relax all I want and cannot manage to go past G#1. It's like there is a 100ft wall between G1 and all the higher notes with "true basses only" written on it 😄
I'm sure you've heard it before but it might be a really interesting thing for you to breakdown. Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys collaborated on a revival of Elvira with Geoff's arrangement.
please react to home frees cover of honey i´m good and/or brothers in arms by home free aswell
Amazing and lots of fun video, like most of Geoff's are! 💖🔥
As a tenor with chamber choir experience I'm having a great time getting your take and analysis on all these a capella songs!
Hi. Thanks for the reaction video, that was great. Have you ever reacted to Tim Storms singing lonesome road? If not, it would be interesting to react to this singer. The guy has the Guinness record for the lowest note in the world and also vocal range. React to him please, it will be really cool.
Peace from 🇧🇷
As someone who sang bass in college acapella, it's great to hear your reactions, keep up the good work bro
Listen to Tim Foust singing, Will You Still Love Me. Incredible mix of high and low.
Thank you for all your video description and comments. Love what you share.
I love this song from the Jungle Book so having Geoff put a bass spin on it, makes it better. I always enjoy your analysis. Thanks
Another fantastic breakdown. I completely missed this drop yesterday since I was in rehearsals all day. What a nice little gift for it to show up this morning.
Just found your channel and i have seen a good videos now but even from the few videos iv seen i really love your understanding/comprehension of music, vocal ability and also seeing the emotions that music can have on a person. Great work!
PS. you have a very incredible and soothing voice to listen to.
I heard your intro and then went back to listening while setting up a new chapter on something I'm retiring. I heard that beautiful voice and BAM...he captured my mind and ears. He has a lite Bass sound and a Baritone. I love his sound. Never really heard him before. I loved the Harmony 4 part and then the various changes. The fo it r parts together is beautiful. Is this what he does, he is a solo artist and an stranger?
Great Job Peter.... As always. The original track for this song does have the musical intro that Geoff included. Can't wait for the Halloween themed vids in the coming weeks
Great reaction and analyse as always. Would be fantastic if you could react to Voiceplay - Hoist the colors. It's mind blowing, you would love it I can assure you! :)
PLEASE!!! Do some more Tim Foust but also I’d love to see sound of silence by tomi p analysis
I love your reaction of this song.
Would be great to see and hear a reaction of "Saddle Up". One of my favourites from hin. Really funny !!
That was just fun.
Behold the power of the eyebrow.
One of the songs he did that is similar to this one is Saddle Up and its really good
Hey man I am a friend of Bobby Waters and a fellow bass. 'm not the best singer but I try haha, Thank you for your analysis they are always spot on. Have a great day!
Geoff did a cover of take me home country roads there’s more of that “twang” you’re talking about, also he goes way in the basement lol
You had me at hello (on reaction of HF see shanty’s) but then you went Squirrel on me and I new we would get along. I immediately hit like and subscribe. So I am going through all your videos so sorry (not sorry) for the random comments on your old videos. And I love your reaction stile and breakdown of the songs. I really enjoy watching someone who knows music react to my favorite artist and groups because I fill like I come away with more appreciation for the music. Thanks
P.S. I can’t wait to blast you cover of Sound of silence in are big Speakers. Loved it. Great work all around.
Really liked this song by Geoff and your analysis as well. Would love to hear you in an opera. Anything in Philly coming up?
I was watching your video and saw that you hadn't heard his 'Southern twang' before. if you liked it you should check out his "Take me home, country roads" it's an absolutly amazing song and at least one if not to pit vipers lol
I would love it if Jeff could do a version of we are friends from The Jungle Book along with the Jeremy iron's part with that's what friends are for hitting that really low note I bet he would have fun doing those parts to that song
So cool!
Sopranos have Morning Sarastro, too.
This has to be one of my favorites if his my favorite is definitely high and dry tho
I'm a huge Geoff Castelucci fan, so I enjoy your insights. For the record, though, your speaking voice is incredible--you should consider reading classics like Geoff experimented with... I think in pure speech, your voice is more satisfying to listen to.
I know you might be saving it, but I'm shocked that you haven't reacted to Voice Play Oogie Boogie Song!
Please react to the oogie boogie song by the voice play..it's amazing
I’ve actually seen a video of him saying he is more comfortable in his upper range
Peter, are you talking about the 1967 Jungle Book movie that Disney made where Phil Harris sang as Baloo? 😎😎😎😎
I agree with you Peter. I also think Geoff is a bass with baritone access rather than a baritone with bass access as he likes to say.
Nice reaction. You should Check out "Long Black Train" covered by former Home Free member Chris Rupp and Tim Foust.
But First im really looking forward for the halloween reactions.
Have you listened to his readings of Edgar Allen Poe? He has many on his channel for all to listen to.
I have really enjoyed your insight from a classical point of view. Would love to see your reaction to Dimash Qudaibergen's rendition of Ogni Pietra/ Olimpico.
Have you ever heard anything by Accent (or they may be Accent Vocal here)? They do a lot of good great a capella jazz. Their bass (Evan) is not down in Geoff's range, but he's getting there. :)
I love your analyses. You obviously love music and musicians and have good technical knowledge. I know you focus mostly on bass singers as it’s your specialty, but I think you also like singers who have excellent vocal yech inquest. You should listen to a young man named Dimash Kudaibergen. His vocal range is extreme…he’s a counter tenor who can get down into bass range from highest soprano level. More importantly, his vocal techniques and many many textures make him a fascinating person to listen to. He’s been called the best singer in the world by many. He has a lot of training in bel canto and also has studied jazz and pop. I suggest you begin with his Omni Pietra to get a sense of his range and quality. Then perhaps Stranger to hear something with some contemporary vibes. After that, go nuts! Every piece he does is unique and surprising. I will be waiting with bated breath to see what your reaction is! Thanks!
You should do a reaction to country mashup by voiceplay featuring Chris Rupp
Would love to hear your reaction to Tim Storms vid -- Man With WORLD'S LOWEST VOICE Sings "Lonesome Road"
Hi Peter...Have you watched the interview that Elizabeth (The Charismatic Voice) did with Geoff?...It's worth the watch if you haven't seen it...
The country, 'Disney' nerd in me was beyond satisfied with this.. and, his reading of the OG 'The Little Mermaid - you should look into that bass asmr stuff, truth be told, it's so peaceful to fall asleep to. Different little niche, but, it'd be a different niche for ya.
Voiceplay- Hoist the colours
Can you react to Mayday from Home Free? It’s a great surprise from their normal stuff 😏😄
Sweety pllease react to oogie Boogie.. it is also by Geoff.. but i am loving your show!! much love ♥
Please do Voice Play Hoist the colors
Nice....but, You should definitely react to the LONE SOME ROAD video by Team Storms, and feel the surprise
How many singers can be a one-man barbershop quartet?
I've had that same argument about Geoff's voice and I come at it from the other side, being a low-ish baritone but definitely not a real bass. I land where you landed: dude's a bass regardless of what he calls himself.
Is it possible to get an invite to the Bass Singing Nation discord you mentioned? I'd love to interact with my fellow bassists
Re: Geoff calling himself a baritone - I agree with you that he is more of a bass, *however* , he does have a B4 in chest, which is something that I doubt very many bass singers can pull off.
That's a mix. His highest chest belt is A4 or Bb4.
@@nikelodeon6852 the top note in Oogie Boogie is confirmed to be a chest B4 by Geoff, but he says it hurts every time.
He can mix up to Eb5 as far as I'm aware.
I think this is what makes Geoff consider himself as a bass-baritone. His ease in medium-high notes and the lack of volume in his low notes.
@@Stan_S_Stanman Considering Geoff is wrong when he says he's a baritone I wouldn't trust his word on where his chest range ends.. the B4 is a mix.
@@nikelodeon6852 Who are we to say that he's wrong? He literally says in his youtube video that he feels more comfortable singing in the baritone range.
If he can physically feel that the baritone range is where he has to push for the notes the least, then there's no denying it.
@@Stan_S_Stanman Who are you to say he's absolutely correct in every single thing. In case you weren't paying attention the reactor already said Geoff is a bass despite what he himself says about his voice. Geoff is already wrong in that aspect. The B4 is a mix deal with it.
Love this reaction! I detect a twang in Geoff’s speech and singing occasionally-it’s made me curious where he grew up but I haven’t gone to the trouble of looking it up. Loved that smooth slide at the end.
Hey, Peter, I’d love to see your expert analysis of this “live” recording of Grim Grinning Ghosts by Voiceplay. I’m curious what you think of Geoff’s projection and his posture-he doesn’t go as low as he can, but it still might raise your eyebrows. ruclips.net/video/jpw0yQpvb_c/видео.html
Virginia
Guess what subscribed! To you!
hey geoff hs th xfactor too... or hvnt u noticed yet...
Can you please react to voice play oogie boogie song
Um... The actual name of the song is Bear Necessities not Bare. It is a play on sound-a-like terms sung by a bear. Just thought you oughtta know.
Hoist the colours react!!!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone, if we support him on his Patreon for $1 a month, that's only 1 cent more a day than my 2 cents worth. Ba-dum-ssss. I'll see myself out...
Well done 😂
It is crystal clear this was the beginning ; all his solo and Voiceplay prods are full of editing and post prod and they are often really audible . Have you ever recorded "reading" Peter ? If yes where are them avaliable pls ? Just cuz your speaking voice is REALLY REALLY something !
YAY! Was looking forward to this! However, I am not a big fan of his singing predominantly in his mask. For some reason the nasally sound is kind of off putting to me.
