This is the best version, the lead vocalist has the most amazing story telling voice.💚🌟 I love Little River Band, I feel lucky enough to get beautiful inspiration from this meaningful music in tender age. Thank you for the real, excellent music you made for us to enjoy-LRB forever!!💫
If you ever get a chance to hear the Sherbs, check out more Aussie excellence. Albums I Have the Skill, Defying Gravity, and Parallel Bars are outstanding. G'day, mate !
Someone on the internet always has to say something is "underrated" ....the only reason this song was not worn out like so many "classics" is due to its length. There are edited versions but everything is too good to cut. The real enjoyment is listening to all of the full version.
The relevancy of this song does not change😎. I got this song on a cassette tape(LRB Greatest HIts-bootleg) about 1980, from old Vet/Biker . He is long gone now. But this song is still around,😎. Gorgeous song.
According to an interview I watched a while back he did the parts throughout the song over the course of a couple of days and come time to record the solo he woke up with the flu. He dragged himself down to the studio and did it in one take so that he could go back to bed. Whether it was the flu or a hangover it's a great solo for 1 take.
Why do you have to compare these cats to the Eagles? The L.R.B. should be able to stand alone without having to be compared with any other bands. They most certainly have earned that right.Given that, the Eagles are just a bad comparison.
I remember seeing the original line up at "The Bondi Lifesaver", like so many great bands that played there, I knew they were special then, absolutely loved ,Rick Formosas guitar playing.
Love that song so much. Listened to it all the time in 1978 in New Orleans as a student from Germany. I did not want to go back home ever again. I think that the videos from Australia don't match the lyrics of the song. Glenn Frey of the Eagles really liked the Little River Band.
Videos from Australia?? That’s because we are “a long way there”. They travelled the world with their music, but always the long way home back to Australia. ❤️
This video has been cobbled together to promote Australia. It was never an official LRB video. The parts of the video which show the band miming to the original recording can be seen in full here ... ruclips.net/video/kuL_v0tDjzA/видео.html That video was filmed primarily to promote Little River Band's debut album in the United States of America. It was filmed AFTER Ric Formosa (Lead Guitarist) and Roger McLachlan (Bass Player) had departed from the band. The lead guitarist in the video is David Briggs. The bass player is George McArdle. Neither of which played on the original recording of the song. The original Little River Band lineup including Ric and Roger can be seen performing the song in the video below ... ruclips.net/video/x6iiS8hQRAI/видео.html
I love the native American nuance with the mix of other aspects of sound as well..so poignant. But the words...outstanding💓...especially possibly alluding to the notion that we've never known 'home' because we've never lived on this earth-only home we have as we could...and he's still hopeful. "It's been a long time since I've known home"- because innately we sense HOW we SHOULD live on this earth... as if it is a home where we know and care for each other..sensible.. rational...and it exemplifies lving and actualizing AS the universal known, highly regarded Golden Rule. That said, we need a well designed socio-economic design..and deep down WE KNOW this truth in direction. "Social concern IS self concern." We will eventually realize this...
Totally agree! And so much meaning in the visuals also. People working together, then the picture of tug of war, pictures of clocks and watches and then directly after cars racing (time speeding up? time racing?), the bright light at the end (looks like the sun, brighter days? Flash of light?). Great song with so many meanings!
The guy ripping those guitar solos is Ric Formosa. The entire sound of the band - while still excellent - completely changed when they replaced him. He is virtually unknown and completely underrated.
I liked it when it came..Great song..but now it's a shame about the video, that you can't see guitar soloist playing. There are many versions were it's cut off. There must be a reason for that.
Love this post. But what has become of Australia in the last two years? No place I want to go, it's a police state. Sorry to say that, as much as love LRB and all the other Aussie artists that came out in the 70's. There was something in the water then. There is something different in the water now in October of 2021.
Sad they had to ruin it with sport. Not everyone thinks sport is tops as a few do. In fact most dont like sport but we just get it jammed in our faces.
Ric Formosa, the lead guitarist, deserves so much credit for the success of this beautiful piece of art. Love, love LRB
No one in the history of earth could find fault with this sonically perfect song .
This is a beautiful representation of Australia- people, struggles, sports, resilience, Love of country. Little River Band Forever !
Definitely mate. Fantastic song and video. Have a go Australia 🇦🇺
This...is their best song. Great band.
one of their best
Such a great song wonderful harmonies and musicianship 🎸🥁🎹🎼🎶💓

Thank you for the real, excellent music you made for us to enjoy-LRB forever!!💫
Such an underrated gem from 1975. The lead guitar is badass.
For sure《☆》🤓
agree, yet they saw fit to show cricket and the Bathurst race rather than his guitar work
@@rodbarnes8112 guitar works was meant to be listened to, not for watching unless you want to study some lead playing
@@normatible9795 nope, seeing the guitar work is part of the show for me.
One of the tightest bands i ever heard vocally instrumentally just tight harmonization off the chart 70’s gold .
How good is this 👏
Awesome song and well done with making this great clip. LRB are surely one of the best Aussie bands ever! 😎
If you ever get a chance to hear the Sherbs, check out more Aussie excellence. Albums I Have the Skill, Defying Gravity, and Parallel Bars are outstanding. G'day, mate !
A perfect song. Great groove, great harmonies, great solos. As smooth as it gets.

listen without watching vid....just close your eyes
That's the way I listen every time I can. This song is a perfect piece of music. Favorite since I heard it the first time.
Why?
This is the first time I've heard this extended version, I'm blown away! So friggin awesome!
so much excellence in this band and this track - music, harmonies...yes.
Rik formosa laid the guitar down live while hungover. Legend. Such a great song. Glenn Shorrock on point vocally. Tight rythym section. Awesome band.

I love this band, especially their great harmonies! If I could go back to the 70's, I'd arrange to get a front row seat to one of their concerts.
Greatest version of this song by the only original Little river band
Love this great master peice it's a real classic it never gets old .
I absolutely love this version of this song. Its in my regular rotation. Thanks LRB!!
Priceless Memories of 1977 !!! :)
Had forgotten just how fantastic these Guys are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this song, I used to play the heck out of it when I was living in a little town in Texas named Hondo. That's deep in English. My favorite band
A music shop where I live had this EP on their disco deck as a demo. I badgered the life out of them to get it. I won eventually. Great Band!!!
All I can say is that I love this song and it's creators.
Little River Band is the best band of the 70's. Jerry B.
First time I heard this I was on in the my way to Barry Meyers place Little River, Victoria, in the Austin 1800.
Faark!!, those were the days!
Absolutely classic Australian track..world class guitar solos and superb band. The equivalent of the Eagles.
Except I hate the Eagles and love LRB!
Good comparison ! Mate😊

@@williamhiggins842 Eagles are grossly overrated
Well done! I always wished I could’ve made a super 8 film to go with this when I was 18.
I saw this band in London in 1982 - what a fabulous eveining
Cant beat it Top Band Awesome Song They Rock :)
17000 views... bruh underrated is an understatement. Unrecognised :(
When Australia was a great county, I will miss you.
I always liked this song the best. Miss them.
Best song. .my people know this is the song i take to my grave 😘
What a totally bizarro video to go with this great old song!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ my all time favorite of the Band LRB
I remember seeing the original line up at "The Bondi Lifesaver", like so many great bands that played there, I knew they were special then, absolutely loved ,Rick Formosas guitar playing.
think of it as I'm planning my sail to Asia..lovely!
Rick Formosa's lead guitar breaks are Gold.. Don't understand why they don't show him in the video. ? 🎵🎵
He wasn't in this clip obviously...gave us random TV add snippets when his solos were on lol
Love the lead guitar work
My fave of theirs
The Australian "eagles" , great musos!
A wonderful song but you really have to LOVE easy listening to listen to this band for an hour.
i LOVE THEIR HARMONY1
This Song Reminds Of High School Friend's Aunt Her Name Was Vanessa Hackney, But She Pass Away 6 Years Ago 7-9-2016. RIP Vanessa.
Yea, algo, Little River Band 😎

Pretty woman, good taste
Bloody shame to be watching the cricket and Bathurst when Ric is ripping through the extended lead break. Would rather be watching him.😎
Ya I haven't seen any decent footage of Formosa playing this one🤓☻🤠🚥🚥🚥🌳🌱🌲😎
I was 13 when this came out. Great times:)
same
@chrisperrien7055 "Have a go, Australia." Gotta love the clip😊
The best ever!

...my anthem...
Should be Australia's national anthem
Anyone else remember hearing this on Radio Caroline?
Muito bom aqui assistindo em 2021
Love the swans jumper the drummer is wearing!
Yank and VFL/AFL fan here. Every time I see one of those, I immediately think of Warwick Capper. lol
Wouldn't that be the South Melboune Swans back then
Back when bands colaberated with orchestras and played instruments. Not like crap today
From a time when music was REAL and people could play their a$$es off.
one of the most brilliant guitar solos, and we get video of cricket and fckn bathurst.. cmon
A Great Australian Band, as for the pretenders, no Shorrock, no Gobles, no Birtles= NO Little River Band
