Also, we will talk about why why these watches are important as well as my outlook as a watch dealer as to how these watches will perform in the future. We will cover the watches he designed such as Patek Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, IWC Ingenieur, and more!

Thanks John for exposing us to the Gerald Genta brand. It is ironic that the watches he designed for AP and Patek are worth so much more then watches that bear his name in today’s market!

I second that. The Gerald Genta brand will be rising in demand.
Managed to get a GG Retro Fantasy Minnie Mouse recently and a Bvlgari GG Bi-Retro Gefica Bronze.

I want one of these to become my first big expensive watch purchase. Completely underrated and beautiful

Have you listened to the recent Scottish Watches podcast, with Genta’s widow, and daughter ? It was absolutely fascinating, with entertaining anecdotes. What an interesting dude. Well worth a listen.

John, good round up on the subject. But do take another listen to the Scottish Watches Podcast that dropped last Thursday (Oct. 14, 2021) (interview with Gerald Genta's wife and daughter that you mention). She contradicts a couple of things that are popular lore about Genta - for example he actually approached Patek with the Nautilus design himself rather than the other way around.

I am keeping my AP RO for life! Whether the market price is going to hit the roof or not.

That’s the spirit, it’s nice to know you made a smart financial decision but wearing the watch is what it’s for. Wear it proudly

A brand new royal oak was offer to me in 1996 to trade with me Chronomat Blue Angels plus $4000, I was very young, with no much money and I had just bought the Breitling, so I didn't even consider the offer. If I could go back in time.....
I still have the Chronomat tho!!!!
I love the Royal Oak since I saw it the first time in 1992.

@@mrbluecatone we could always look back and wish we could change a few things. Similar to you, I felt in love with first AP piece (14790: 36mm blue) in 2011, then I flipped it in 2015, and then I had to pay almost four times to get the modern 15450 37mm version two years ago (about 15% above retail). Even the price increase in the last two years has simply been crazy, but that's irrelevant, I have no intention of ever selling it. Chronomat Blue Angels is also a beautiful piece.

Lighting looks great this time! You are very red though, maybe your colour balance is off?
Beside that, was hoping for more GG brand watches and not just the usual mainstream staples.

Genta was more or less dismissed 25ish years ago; people had kinda had enough of the sort of derivative 70s designs. I never hated them, but some were better than others. We tend to only have fond memories of people once they're gone.
No hate on him, but he's the flavor of the month and the appeal of some of these designs will fade with time.

Is 10 years that I'm trying to by an ARENA SPORT RETRO for the right price, I got close a couple of times but never happened. I'm seeing the prices going up, I think it will never happen!

Not a fan of where the company is going now though.

John I really like your videos but you really need to get a video editor and slow your speech rhythm. Your neurons are firing more than your mouthpiece. Please slow the heck down man, focus on the main points. I would highly suggest finding a media training consultant. Love you man, but focus and slow the hell down.

Hot take : its really easy to tell that Genta did his designs in seconds, and on discardable papers.... they are mostly trash....
Nah... i kid... i would love to have a Polerouter....
