I was kind of hoping for a seperate semi-joke tierlist that was just the legendaries and its a super short video
I still think Chicot would be a lot more interesting if it actively inverted the boss blinds instead of just negating them- trying to spin every boss blind into a buff instead of just saying "ok you're just a big big blind now"

I feel like obelisk has 3 problems:
1: It's kind of contradictory, in that it encourages you to play a lot of hands to scale up but then by trying to play a lot of hands you get backed into a corner where whatever you do you lose its value
2: It's finite, if you managed to play a hand a lot before, great. But now you have a timer on how many rounds you can actually make use of the xmult joker you're going to have to replace or accidentally mess up.
3: It asks a ton of your deck, you want to be able to put together a bunch of different hands to scale it, but you're probably otherwise building for one hand, and building for multiple hands is hard.
putting together multiple hands is only hard if you are limiting it to high scaling hands, which I think isn't the point of obelisk. Obelisk works best when you have a build that can score ok with any hand (have a chips and a plus mult). deck manip to make the deck all the same number is still good because you can play 3, 4, 5 of a kind and maybe even flush 5.
As to the first two points yes, it is limited but that's fine. Without a strong limitation it would be broken and imo it is very well designed for the game within ante 8.
Obelisk is interesting but ultimately, I don’t like it.
it's interesting in the context of "I've played a bunch of straights and am now upgrading to straight flushes, which are a different hand" and similar

@art-cs6us Death doesn't give you an extra card to the deck (which is probably a good thing, depending on what you're going for). But yeah, Perkeo with Cryptids is definitely the superior version of DNA. I do agree DNA is noob bait. I loved it when I first started playing, and I still feel that jolt of dopamine whenever it comes up, but after a debate, I almost always decide against taking it.

Driver's license carried so many of my runs. Basically a guaranteed 3x. But I guess that's just for getting over ante 8
Iunno, i find its often too hard to trigger before your run has snowballed to the point where the scoring isnt necessary.
same for me. driver's licence saved at least two of my hard deck gold stake runs
It's strictly a mid to late game joker so I can see why it placed it in the middle. A lot of times when you see it, you won't be able to use it.
@@baconx6476 xmult is also a mid to late game need. To me, early game is about setting up econ, scaling jokers and deck manip, then sometime ante 6-7, maybe 8 you seal the victory with a reliable xmult.
@@inordirections While that's true, there are other xMult that work at any point of the game. Yes, they are better later on when you've established your chips and +Mult jokers but there are other xMult that just work easier than Driver License.
While I think Driver License is very good, I still stand that a lot of time when you see it in the shop, you cannot use it effectively.
The minute you mentioned people smelling bad my mind immediately went to my MTG playing days. How is this a universal thing??? I was playing in Ireland and it was the only environment I encountered this!
For me it was the engineering and CS department at school. The CS lab genuinely stunk some days
I know we wanted to copy our xmult with blueprint but invisible joker could be a copy of anything! Even our xmult joker! You know how much we wanted to copy that?
Iirc, if you play Obelisk with Psychic or Mouth, you can increase the maximum hands played without resetting obelisk.
hot take: I would have expelled blueprint. That's one of the students that just doesn't belong into class. Go found the next Microsoft in your garage. Don't waste our time studying.
I mean blueprint is innately just as good as your best joker. I guess in that since it's a little win more, but it can also enable the sinful Jokers to just be better as well as any of the other lower conditional multi cards at least until you find a higher value joke you would want to replicate
my Ancient Joker strat is to get 5 polychrome redseal wildcards and then either have Chicot or just dodge every single suit debuff boss. Pretty consistent strat especially on Gold Stake considering I've already gotten this once in my first 600hrs in the game! Can't wait to get trolled by AJ the next 50 times I take it until i finallly get more payoff in hour 1.3k
I'll preface this by saying I don't think Blueprint or Brainstorm need changing, I'm just asking hypothetically
right now, BP is just a better BS in all scenarios (except copying +Mult while Poly'd) due to extra flexibility
if you had to make 1 change to nerf BP to make it more equal to BS, what would you do?
and conversely, if you had to make 1 change to buff BS to equal BP, what would you do?
personally if I had to nerf BP, I'd make it copy the Joker to the right on Blind selection and Cash-out, retains its positional flexibility while taking away its ability to change mid-blind
conversely to buff BS, the only idea I have is making it left-handed BP, but that's boring, no ideas otherwise
Sometimes CCGs will do this, print an inferior version of a super useful card that still gets played alongside it. That seems to be the point with BP/BS. But maybe for symmetry (while still being more useful) BP could copy the rightmost card.
I'm doing a run right now where I have 4 BPs and one BS copying Perkeo to give me 6 cryptids per round, then I move them on to Mail In Rebate to get $480 per round, then I move them to Mime and Baron for whatever E score I need. Then I roll for natural negatives and do it all over again. Yes, it's broken as hell. Don't take away my fun.
Vagabond is honestly one of my favorite jokers even though it requires you to destroy your own econ. Getting a tarot card with every single hand carries my runs sometimes.
Hey! Love the channel. Some feedback from a beginner- you are very easy to learn from, and I appreciate the way you engage with your audience. I learned a lot from the tier lists, but because I'm still new to the game, I needed to pause/look up the cards mid-video to follow along. It would be more accessible for me and maybe others if you made a point to quickly verbalize what the card does; maybe even make it easier to just listen to!

Glad you're enjoying the content. Unfortunately, not every video is intended for every potential audience member. Tier lists, in general, are more meant for entertainment among seasoned players. If you're interested in learning more about the game, the videos titled Balatro Basics 1, 2, and 3 are way more accessible and informative.

Obelisk for me I wish the downside was smaller I never take it and if it's free I normally sell because if I don't go for it at the right time it will just reset and I'm screwed for the rest of the bind and it just becomes a dead card
It'd be easier to take for me if it only cut your xmult in half instead of zeroing it.
I like obelisk enough how it is. It has it's niche. On my last green deck orange stake run I got it up to 17X.

Bro you are trying to hard with burnt joker. Especially in higher stakes where you get only 2 discards to start you saying you discard a good hand and then what you only 1 discard to get another great hand. Buffing pairs or high card a bunch even if you aren't going for them adds up. Since there will be times where you are like 2 chips short and one of the hand played was a high card or a pair just because you ran out of discards.
Burnt joker is both really fun and just free wins, you can literally just play pairs and win without having to think at all, or you can go for 5 card hands and have some fun
Maybe in gold stakes it's bad but it's a solid joker elsewhere. It's a free planet card per round, pretty solid option.
