    I live in Montauk, have been fishing Montauk my whole life and most of my videos come from these waters but I must say it was cool to see a different perspective from a couple creators trying to figure out the waters. Good job, enjoyed the video. Most of the heads that wash up on the beach are from charter boats who fillet and release the striped bass or end up there after they are disposed of. It's required to bring the fish back to the dock to dispose of by the inlet but some captains do and some don't. Tight Lines.

    Get yourself a neoprene jacket and belt with those waders, the way you were wearing them, if you trip an fall in the water, or a wave surprises ya your going to sink like a rock. Just a tip.

    The heads are likely just from fish that had been cleaned at the beach! They throw the heads and guts back in

    As a middle aged "fat man" let me humbly explain that we don't care about what we look like when fishing or hunting either for that matter. Its about being comfortable and trying to catch fish. We aint models and don't want to be. We don't care about color coordination either.

    • @HeySkipper
      @HeySkipper  7 лет назад +23

      you're right. that was an embarrassing comment, to be honest. the guys who are dressing like that are the guys who know what they're doing and catching huge fish. i'd like to apologize for such an insensitive comment. I respect those guys, and i didn't show it through this video -Erin

    • @hammer44head
      @hammer44head 7 лет назад +13

      No reason to apologize Senko, I didn't mean to come off defensive, you were just being real and there is nothing wrong with that. Unfortunetly when a guy is fat his wetsuit is always going to be tight! :)

    Couple tips from a Massachusetts surf fisherman, for better control and fighting abilities, put the rod butt between your legs. They are really long to help casting distance and you are much better off with it between your legs. Also, I was very surprised to see him help you out. Montauk fisherman are known to hide lures in their waders til you go away so you can't copy them.

    • @HeySkipper
      @HeySkipper  7 лет назад

    I've had several 40+ fish sessions in montauk. Last time I was there I had twenty fish between 20-30 lbs in one session. Catching it right is everything but when montauk goes off watch out. I've even seen bluefin tuna feeding on the north side by false bar! Almost pooped my waders when five and six feet long tuna started rocketing out of the water. What a fishery!

    ok so here is whats going on the charter and party boats are filleting the fish on the way back and toss the carcus overboard the tide and current than bring them back to the beach when the wind tide and current work in sync pushing in that direction hope that explains great video

    I like your videos and I'd like you see you make many more of them. It bothered me to see you in the surf in your waders and NO belt cinching your waders. If you should slip and fall in the surf you could find yourself suddenly with waders full of water and a very difficult time getting yourself out of the water--a very dangerous situation in the surf. I hope you take this opinion as coming from a friend or brother. Peace to you both.

    Can't be from a party boat, they have to have the whole carcass to prove it's league. Most likely released fish guy hooked and torn up by blues in less then a minute. Also during a blitz blues will kill stripers as well.

      Well during a blitz, the bait fish are on top, the blues are right underneath them and directly below them are the stripers and underneath them are the sand sharks.

      I don’t think so because if a shark ate it it’s not like a shark doesn’t eat fish heads there’s no way that sharks just spit out the heads they did the whole fish… It’s got to be people filleting them on the beach and throwing them into the surf

    Fish heads? Simple. The Montauk Monster. The big commercial boats like Viking fillet to those fishes and throw the heads overboard on the way back to the dock. Or old shark chum. There is good shark fishing off Momtauk.

      Jackson Thorne i’m not gonna pretend I have surf fished every beach in the US .. but Montauk and also just Long Island in general is definitely up there for surf fishing.. if you hit the stripers at night or during the spring or fall Run or you throw a popper into a bluefish feeding frenzy .. or fuck if you just love landing doormat flukes like I do Long Island it definitely top of the list ... Florida is also amazing for surf fishing but it’s just different man .. different vibe different people and different fish but there’s just a whole godamn vibe out in the island when it comes to fishing it’s Without a doubt top five places in the US and if you don’t realize that you’re doing something wrong

    • @bnewman21
      @bnewman21 4 года назад

      Jackson Thorne You got understand it’s not that the fishing is great and believe me it is but there’s a whole culture and lifestyle wrapped into it also and that is a big deal

    Awesome episode at Mecca of surf casting. I was content with just the scenic footage and landmarks that you visited. Connecting with fish was a bonus to watch! I took my family there in the summer time which wasn't an ideal time to go due to tourists, traffic , etc. Did you experience the same upon arriving?

    • @HeySkipper
      @HeySkipper  8 лет назад

      +Ray Rider Fishing actually there was hardly any problems with tourism or traffic. It's funny because we were wondering how packed it gets in the summer?

    • @rayriderfishing6181
      @rayriderfishing6181 8 лет назад

      We went on Father's Day so it wasn't too bad. I assume the actual summer season started in July, onward. I actually stopped into a tackle shop on 27 en route to Montauk (unsure of name) and the owner told me that it gets overly congested on that single lane road going there come July. If I would have known all the logistics, I would've rather went another time, around now, actually after watching your videos. I actually fished the surf where I was staying (south side I believe) and hooked up with dogfish and skates using frozen vacuum sealed bunker and that did it for me. I fished the lighthouse but with all the tourism going on, it was utterly pressured and didn't produce any fish for any body. To my understanding, the party boats were where all the action was at the time. I also fished the 'twin jetties' which the sea robins made enjoyable. The highlight for us was eating at Salvatore's and the lobster roll upon departing!

      First of all relax buddy it’s a good thing that the top video on mountain isnt some local given away all the secrets and spots .. if you care that much then make your own fucking RUclips channel..I think for somebody from out of town he did his absolute best to pay his respects and try to have a good time ... you and I both know that bucktailing for stripers on your first try ever you’re not gonna catch shit accept maybe some sea robins 😂 .. it’s different than fishing anywhere else and it takes Time to learn .. watch his other videos he knows how to fish and most of all he loves it and that’s what counts.. give the guy a break he’s a good dude with good intentions and lots of positivity
