- Finally we set foot on the island! Sheffield, one of the most iconic climbing spots of the past and present. We are glad to visit one of the birth places of wooden boards, hard training and dirt bag rock climbing. Just before we finishing the day a beautiful little cave popped up next to the road and we couldn´t resist and had to try it! Sean´s Roof 8b+ sport climb, first ascent 1995 by Jerry Moffatt
Big thanks to Sam Whittaker for showing us around!
Ahh and before you comment...we blurred the license plate for personal improvement...the Passat is from Sam and we think well known in Sheffield.
Edit: Christoph Hanke

Meter fifty off the ground.
That's my life 😂
Banger vid, excited for the whole series
"it was important to do something that is 9b or 9b+ in Flatanger, before trying something hard"
Relatable.
😅
To be fair, it only takes him a few days for a 9b, just wild.
Can relate, I always try 6b/6b+ before trying 6c at a new crag 🥲
What an absolute king line. One to dream about for sure
King line???
Settle down lad 😂😂😂
@@MF-CLIMB I know it wAs… hahaha
Was just a tongue in cheek reply
would have died if Ondra belayed you on this one
lmao
😂😂
No
Great video! Paying respect to this legendary stuff! Soloed by Mark Leach years and years ago! Climbed with pads by Dan Varian and Ned Feehally in 2010! On vimeo you can find a video of Dan faceplanting on tiny pads from the last cutloose!
Great vid. Captures the full beauty of British limestone sport climbing in the summer! 😉
Kind of horrible looking route in the first place but very nice moves in the end. You gotta have the vision to open such a route. Hats off to Mr. Moffatt.
Why horrible? If it wasnt for the road, it'd be awesome. F.g strong, Jerry was...
I like this Track in the background
It's not a proper Alex Megos climbing video if there isn't footage of finger taping, is it /j
still waiting for a funny tutorial video!!
Such a chill video about a savage boulder problem. That was beautifully filmed and edited and the banter between Chris and Alex. Thanks ++
Very scenic spot
A famous climber told us: “There are no bad conditions, there is only weakness” 😊
The weaknesses increases when the holds are wet unfortunately 😂😅
That sounds stupid 😂
Props to the guy that blurred the number plate of the car and did the laziest job ever
Yes we are lazy and were about to have a session at Climbing Works 😉
Nice job covering the car plates!
But at the end it is visible :)
@@mikafull It pretended to be ironic ;-)
Probs to the blurer of the licence plate, that is readable in every second clip😅
Nice video. Enjoying it
For one of the worlds best what a great attitude - similar to Ondra. The ego is not so front and center like a lot of serious athletes.
Very cool to see you psyched for some esoteric peak limestone
wherever you go step carefully on your toes and try not to make a lot of noise. Trying the classics on a crag when you go there for the first time is a must!!! Well said Alex. Knowing the history of the place you are entering and bowing to it shows respect to those who envisioned it in the first place. My respects!!!!
Mega, can’t wait for the rest of the U.K. vids 💪
Nice video. Techno and car noises. Memories to my first flat in the 90s 😂 awesome route. I would love to be strong enough to try these things!
And again: thanks for your humor!
Mega classic! Love a bit of blackwell dale. Shame they closed griffs. Good to see you enjoying it alex.
Love the climb and the little thrilling music with it
came for megos, stayed for the rave
Nice techno music! really showing your true German spirit!
The music is also just full of bangers.
Best video yet! Do a video of trying Mutation 🔥
Tops off for Power 💪
Nice background techno
Maybe a homage to the old Moffat Moon movie "THE REAL THING"... 😎
Does anyone know the track?
Old school
@@Vlassakis22 Blast from the past
Nondescript roadside rock looked more like a Titian oilpainting for a day! Megosangelo, dolce-vida!
Damn, Jerry was really f.g strong. The route looks great. Only the road is sh.t.
music hit´s ;) nice session
Going to be incredibly interested to see what Megos has to say if he gets mutation done.
Great belaying
This route is really cool.
When are you coming down to Ansteys cove in Torquay?
!!!
amazing
The belaying 🫣
Sean Myes bouldered a lot with Ben and Jerry and was pretty much at their level.
6:02
Love how the license plate is hidden 😅
And then uncovered in certain parts 😂
Climbing videos are back❤
interesting video :) i want to get that good at belaying!
There is no bad conditions Alex!
Because there are never good conditions in the UK, I guess it's never bad lol
@@HourRomanticist😂
Welcome to 90's
Another banger!
Beast !!!
Alex with the stick 😢 the end is near
Kilnsey is dry at the moment guys!
Respect to the belayers of these guys. I would find it so long and boring being that job for extended period
Normally we belay each other...like you do in climbing😉
@@alexandermegosAM yeah I get that, just saying I respect the patience to belay the other guy because you can’t just chill and watch, you have to be paying attention the whole time, it’s tiring etc
Yeah especially on a short route like this one, where decking is possible all the time and short roping is almost worse 😅
👏😊
Sehr geile Session.
Did you go in the wideboyz crack cellar?
Love it guys! would love to see some footage of mutation! Still have a suspicion it could be 9b... Also any plans to get back on the projects on the RRG?
Not much of a suspicion when it's been graded a very tentative 9a+/b and took Will Bosi way longer than anything he's ever done
The car numberplate is clearly visible
Hi Jungs, wann kommen die Videos von Flatanger?
Die gibt's leider nicht 😅. Das war eher Urlaub und ich hatte keinen dabei zum Filmen...😬
One day you'll escape Sheffield and the Peak and find some proper British climbing 😂
What's with the belayer letting go of the rope with his break hand...
The situation is not comparable to a normal sport climbing route...it's more about slowing down the fall for the bouldering mat.
Was it done before without a rope?
yes its been climbed as a highball 8A+
@@krakenattackin7617 brutal
In the beginning you have preclipped the first two draws. What is the use of the first draw then? It looks like you were never climbing anywhere near to that anyhow.
Has anyone bouldered this? It’s like the height of an average sized climb in bishop
They got a beta stick after Stefano's ads 😅
Free Solo Boulder Route….
Does anyone know the name if the orange Patagonia jacket that Alex is wearing at the beginning?
there are no bad conditions. there is only weakness.
LOL
hello!
are you two actually peaking in the peak district?
That's peak humour.
This seems like it arguably can be given a boulder grade no?
It does have a boulder grade. Font 8A+. Kinda though for the grade I thought though.
wie heißt der song im Background
this video has a wierd vibe to it
Why tf does that have bolts
To pull up and dry the holds 😂. And to be able to climb it with one pad I guess 😂
Why are you chalking your armpits
To make sure they don't sweat
I will be honest guys, you did a terrible job with the plate blurring :D at 2:34 it is as clear as day :/
Please read the video description 😉
@@alexandermegosAM haha what does personal improvement mean? Like editing skills?
What a bad belayer. Wierd that Alex trust that guy.
He is one of the best belayers actually.
@@alexandermegosAM I agree
Sam kept him off the deck each time he fell after the first move, kept the rope out of the way, and didn't short-rope him on any of the multiple big dynamic moves, all about 2m off the ground. I'd bloody like to see you do better!
1:26 i started crying from laughing
So...megos couldn't topout?
Why would I? It's green, grassy and wet 😅
