Dude same. I quit watching in 2004/2005. Found wrestling bios channel and binged a ton of his videos for a few weeks, Then I heard Sting was coming back in AEW.. watched his debut episode of dynamite and since then, rarely do I miss an episode. Lately with wwe actually being good, I’ve been watching the ppvs.
I was a WCW kid, and AEW is most definitely their spiritual successor. I do wish Tony & Eric could have played nice and had Eric could be on AEW tv every now and then. Eric is a great tv character, producer not so much 😅
I am thrilled, there were so many blunders left to be addressed. Jim Crockett Promotions became WCW in late 1988, WCW went under in March 2001, that's over 12 years, plenty of time for plenty of Blunders.
Per Wikipedia: For example, he (Herd) once tried to come up with a tag team called The Hunchbacks (with the gimmick in which they could not be pinned because their humps would prevent their shoulders from touching the mats
@@Ragan31687 That was Bill Watt's idea (in addition to removing the mats from ringside, eliminating backstage catering and banning families from visiting backstage).
This story, and not the finger poke of doom, was the moment started turning the channel. The April 26 episode where Flair was committed was the beginning of the end.
The Poke didn't kill WCW. They did fine in the ratings in the short run. People were making the switch at around summer that year. By then Nitro was pulling in low 3s whereas Raw was double that. You can tell how cheap and low quality WCW became too.
I remember this whole thing and it was classic to me for a lot of reasons. I used to watch and record Nitro amd Thunder week because of school and work. I had a Bowling Class in college at this time and the professor looked like Ric Flair. So me and some of the other dudes in the University Center would "whoooo" and "style and profile" everytime he would come in there. One day asked us why would we "make that noise everytime he would show us" we told him to turn it on Monday Night Nitro at 7pm on Monday. He had never watched wreatling in his life so the episode ge watched was the episode that Flair took all his clothes off and elbow dropped the middle of the ring. So on Tuesday he cussed us all out and told us "he was nothing like that" as we fell on the ground laughing. Classic memories.
When I went back and rewatched all of the Nitros, Thunders and ppvs…when Flair became “president” that’s the exact moment I said to myself yup…this is where it went off the rails.
Accidentally rewound the video and got the phrase “Ric says he would never respect a company president who wore sneakers and jeans to work. Because Flair would become everything he said Bischoff was and more.” Ric wearing those Jordan’s and jorts to work fellas.
Thank you! I've been wanting a video on this topic for a long time, and glad to see that you not only made it, but it's part of Blunders season 2 (it's back!)!
Great idea including a blunder counter for a future episode please do the four Horsemen they run from 1996 to 1999 would be great. I think you could even do an episode counting the four horsemen run in 1997 could be an episode by itself. As always great content.
This channel is fantastic, I have to say, the piecing together of all this weekly footage and such is brilliantly presented. Been watching around a year and never gets boring and fun to relive an era of wrestling I loved as a young boy.
The amount of disrespect a legend like Flair had to endure at the hands of incompetent fools like Bischoff is simply disgusting, such a mismanaged company regurgitating the worst possible ideas could only go under.
My favorite was when Flair would start stylin and profiling so hard he would start dropping elbows on the ring, just cause it was there. I was at the one live where he got to his boxers and handcuffed himself to the ropes. It was my first time ever attending a wrestling show. That fight with Ming and David is still, one of the funniest matches ive ever seen.
Yes!!!! Season one of WCW blunders was one of my favorite to watch! And on the day I'm home from work with a tooth infection hopped up on pain pills can't get much better than that brother!
There are very few channels i watch this religiously i literally watch every single video the minute it goes up keep up the good work and may steve blackman look over you
To me flair as wcw president after I watch all of it on reliving the war left me so disappointed because of how inconsistent it was the start of the story was great but man as it went on the story line just went so down in terms of quality but it will be a thing that will stick in mind due to how much time it was given to for most of 99 although it great stuff to laugh at in blunder material and I love this series so much and season 2 has not disappointed at all keep up the great work
Looking back at RTW, the 'authority' situation in WCW was a shambles. They were like six different people making matches. How did WCW let it go so badly after being on top for so long ?
Can anyone remember they kind of went back to this in late 2000/early 2001. He was WCW's new CEO (''The Boss''). Leader of the Magnificent Seven, it was dropped on the final Nitro in March 2001.
So many blunders within this company. What sux is most blunders in WCW are usually talked about. The only ones I can think of are the many pole matches that Russo made, the bret hart storyline where he gets beaten up by nwo 2000, just for him to still be in the group, heal Goldberg, tank Abbott joining Shane helms boy band, and Chris candido constantly berating Ms. Hancock (Stacy keibler)
"Slamboree was terrible but Gorgeous George and Charles Robinson stole the show" Raven, Saturn, Kidman, Mysterio, Malenko and Anderson are all crying right now.
I absolutely LOVE this Channel and all the hard work and research that goes into these videos. Ok that said, you could literally write a Novel based on all the times WCW advertised a Match and never delivered it , or if it was delivered it was a miserable excuse for a Match that did nothing but leave Fans disappointed and mad., and this includes PPV's that Fans had to pay extra money for , only to get shat on . I just dont know what the F they were thinking, especially in the later years .
Thank you for making this video. I watched it at the time and thought I was going crazy. Every week it seemed someone new was a heel or babyface. In the end no one knew who to boo or cheer it was so convoluted. Your video helped to put it somewhat into a logical (as possible) explanation lol great work
I always remember watching flair heart attack and thinking it was real it stuck in my head all these years to the point I thought maybe I'd imagined it lol..... I've no issues with it by the way anything goes in wrestling
One blunder that I think people aren't remembering that well are the other factions of WCW. We had Misfits in Action, The No Limit Soldiers, The Mamalukes and The Boogie Knights. WCW factions could warrant a video, but the individual ones could also be justified.
Also, while WCW was running Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan as their main event program in goddamn 1999, the other channel was building up towards Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock to main event Wrestlemania. Thats why only one of the 2 biggest wrestling companies in the world still existed 2 years later.

Future Blunder episodes? You touched on it somewhat in this video, but I'd love to see a more in depth all David Flair episode. Giving him any kind of push was a blunder all on it's own
I love how they're called "brass knucks that don't look like brass knucks but we'll call them brass knucks anyway" every time
We have to
Whenever someone used an unamed gimmick, it was always just a big tampon 😆
Classic RTW lore lol
David Flair looks like he's always exhausted, it's like the simple act of walking from point A to point B is the equivalent of a marathon.
Just CRUMBLING to the mat BUT his knees DON'T buckle.....😂
Always looks flushed

Yeah it was really one F* up after another with WCW. I'm surprised they didn't fold sooner.
It started so well with the "You can't fire me, IM ALREADY FIRED!!" promo and then....
Jim Herd's time running WCW should be a future blunder episode.

No top rope moves when one of your divisions is totally based on High Flyers! 🤦🏻♂️

I like that the WCW Blunder font looks like the Street Fighter 2 one.
I think That was the point lol.. but yes very well done 😂
Two blunders you could look at: a) Berlyn and b) the WCW Nitro Trading Card Game (it was the Backstage Assault of card games)

In all fairness, it is Torrie Wilson.
Should of thrown in Flair's drunken rant at the bar, that would of made this 25 minute Flair video... perfect!
Ric flair hates Egypt
Well actually if he's the president of WCW for life, that would explain how he was acting in that restaurant. You don't treat the president that way.
