Brings back some memories ... I used to travel on this line between Acton Town and Hounslow West back in 1967/68 ... The line terminated there and I had to take a bus to travel on to Heathrow. I worked in Terminal 2 with SABENA Belgian Airlines ... Happy memories .
Got back from London 4 weeks ago. I stayed in Hounslow and rode this line everyday. I have to watch a little bit of this video everyday so I don't get lonely. I miss it so much!
samantha fair Same here, returned 2 days ago, we were in the city and rode this line in the city and from Heathrow on our first day and to Heathrow on our last day. I miss London so much...
These "Full Journey" on the Underground are incredibly useful to people coming to London. You may calculate your journey time very accurately by a mathematical subtraction of start/finish times at the two relevant stations you are starting/finishing your journey. Once the whole network has been covered absolutely all journeys will be covered. I suggest a sequel series of changing lines at all stations so people can factor in the time it takes to switch to the next line.
There are many apps you can use that will let you know how long a journey will take, even with changing lines. Just add a few minutes to account for last minute delays and some stations having signs that take you the long way from one platform to another.
riveting video! I was on the edge of my seat as the train pulled into Piccadilly Circus around 44:00. I loved the gripping climax at 1:18:00 as the train hovers over the rooftops only to halt at Oakwood station, and of course the soft, falling denouement when the train gently stops at Cockfosters and lets people out. I honestly didn't know what was going to happen at the end! Would the train make it? Would it be overrun by bandits? So many possibilities in this brilliant film.
This is because the section is built with the cut and cover formula which is now still seen in some areas of Metropolitan, District and Hammersmith & City line maybe to provide ventilation.
I grew up nr Oakwood stn. I took the Picc line into the City and West End every working day. Cool to be able to ride it again from my home in San Francisco, California. Still much the same. Things that I noticed had changed since the 1980s. The lift at Oakwood. The rusting rails between the tracks at Oakwood looks the same ones I saw. The train shed at Cockfosters I always was a grand station. Plsd to see it’s still there. Keith.
I lived within walking distance of Cockfosters station until I was twenty seven years old, then moved out of London. I used the line regularly while living there and indeed every weekday for the first two years after leaving school and working in the west end. However, I just realised this is the first time I've ever seen what is at the other end of the line.
You caught the closed station OSETERLEY & SPRING GROVE on camera at 15:36 (notice the pointless raised platform just after Osterley?), you could have captured Brompton Road between South Kensington and Knightsbridge, but I don't see because of woman reading newspaper (maybe also because the platforms are bricked up, as with Down Street) and I think you captured York Road at 52:00 but I am not sure... Good job!
@@qdog568 I don't mind people being happy and talking loudly on trains. The problem is quite often they're talking in a deliberately obnoxious way to annoy other passengers.
Manor house to Turnpike lane i got 60 MPH down there before having to slow down its very fun that section another fast bit is oakwood to southgate can get 65 MPH on that bit. These days it will all be different and strict. im on Hst trains now outside all the time
Thank you so much for this video! We are going to arrive Terminal 2, and thinking about taking this line because it goes straight to King Cross. No transfer at Paddington or anything. Yeah....it takes longer then taking Heathrow Connect/Express. But the price is right!
Fez 1: I see the old Down Street station at 42:36 when the tracks join back after the station where there are lights placed because the station is bricked except the tiny door for emergency use if any accidents occur.
love the pic line my faourite by far I have done this exact trip myself but only from terminals 1,2,3 as I was on a terminal 4 train back to central london :) my second favourite has to be the central line

I think it was Mr Rat from Wind In The Willows who said "There is nothing quite as wonderful as messing about in boats". This can be applied to London's Underground, "There is nothing quite as wonderful as riding around in Tubes"; an utterly useless pastime but absolutely fascinating and an appropriate homage to a modern marvel.
Nice video! It helps me get some impressions about the system before landing on Heathrow. However at the beginning, the train captain already open the driver's cab door when the train is still moving??
Thx for all your Uploads! Great! I have a question, did u really stand there all time with the camera, would be very brave and persistent, or where you able to somehow install the camera? Going to london next march/april, look forward to ride in the trains again ;-)
@X2K9 What is the proper tube etiquette if you board with suitcase and carry on bag? Should you put them under your seat - don't want to take up too much room yaknow.
It depends how big your suitcase/bag is? If it is a small one you can just put it in front of you when you are sitting down. If there are no seats then try to get one of the dedicated luggage areas which are located by all Doors (these are only on the Piccadilly and Jubilee lines. If your suitcase/bag. is bigger I would try to get a seat by the luggage areas by the double doors and put your luggage in the luggage area. If you have to stand just put your bag near you and keep hold of it so it does not go into other people. Under the seats it is all sealed up so you can't put your suitcase/bag under the seat. But if you are sitting down with your suitcase/bag in front of you then try not to take up there space. Always keep hold of your suitcase/bag or make sure you can see it at all times. Hope this helps!
Though the Heathrow Terminals 1,2, & 3 recording will change in June of next year (2014) to just Terminals 2 & 3 given as soon as the newly rebuilt Terminal 2 opens in mid-June, Terminal 1 will close and be raised for the expansion of T2, with no plans for a new T1.

34:00 Brompton Road
42:35 Down Street

this but unironically
Thank you for this video! For those of us from rural areas in the States, the underground system is a complete mystery. :)
Full journeys are marvellous
I remember my 2 visits to london taking the tube from gloucester road to arsenal. Good times those were

Interesting to see most people still looking at newspapers and magazines instead of smartphones back in 2012.
Piccadilly was my favorite when i rode here about 2 weeks ago!
What I should have said was i would recommend that you do a full journey on the night tube Piccadilly Line
