    This video shows how to replace a map sensor. It is demonstrated on a 2012 Hyundai Elantra but can generally show what a map sensor looks like and how they are installed. You will need to find your map sensor in your vehicle though (look for service manuals or forms online). For the average DIY, it is often cheaper and time saving just to install a new map sensor if you have one of the following code: P0105, P0106, P0107, P0108, or P0109.

    Great video! I have a 2013 Elantra and it's identical to this. Now I know where the sensor is location! Thanks a ton!

    Thanks for the video. I just did this on my wife's 2012 Elantra. Word of advice for anyone else attempting this in the future - there's an electrical wire right in front of the sensor that is attached to something else. (I don't know the name of it, but you can see it in the video. It's literally in front of the MAP sensor wiring and bundled with it). You can make your life a lot easier by disconnecting that wire as if gives you some extra space to work with removing and installing the MAP sensor bolt. Also I was shocked how loose the MAP sensor bolt actually was - so you really need only about a full turn before you can unscrew the rest of it by hand. Same thing goes when you reinstall it.
    One last thing - if this doesn't fix your problem of random stalls at idle / stop sign / red light; try looking at the Crankshaft sensor. It's the next likely culprit - especially if your tachometer reads "0" when you start your car and it turns over fine but will stall later.

    (1) I took out the MAP sensor and cleaned it with MAP sensor cleaner.
    (2) Took the throttle body off completely so that I could give it a good cleaning with throttle body cleaner.
    Put it them both back on and it's been 3 weeks with no check engine light. Thanks for the video, it helped.

    Great video; thanks; and disconnecting the battery re-sets the computer so thats a great tip too; saved me at least $200. if not more !! Also like the way you disconnected the lead after pulling out the sensor !!!

    Awesome vid. I've got 2010 forte koup and got same error. Question, how long did it take for your comp to reset? Had to drive a while?!

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  7 лет назад

      The error code went off when I cleared it right away. It was seeing if it returned or not by driving which only took a couple of minutes of driving. As long as the light stays off after clearing the code, you're fine.

    Do you know if the MAP Sensor is the same for a 2012 Sonata? I would think it would be.

      Hyundai and Kia engines are identical. Parts locations and the parts themselves are pretty much identical during a certain year range. If you didn't know Kia is made by Hyundai.

    hello my friend and thanks for this nice video but i don't understand how can this map sensor measure the air Pressure inside with this plastic cab on the top of the sensor ???

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  6 лет назад +1

      It's just what a map sensor does. I think there's a resistor that sends a voltage to the ECU and adjusts the fuel/air mixture.

      See this...ruclips.net/video/G0areDD00zM/видео.html (I am probably not going to make a video unless I have to clean it out myself)
      looks like it's attached to the engine air filter box

    Thanks for the video. Would a bad map sensor cause the engine car to shake and interior of car to shake as well at idle and at Park? And would adding oil to the tip of sensor before inserting help so it doesn't go in dry.

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  5 лет назад

      It might...if the valve is not working it could be causing a build up of pressure...if your car has high mileage (like mine did), it doesn't hurt to replace it

    • @cruzdeleon1888
      @cruzdeleon1888 5 лет назад

      Eric DIY thanks. and it also shakes in drive like at a stop light. I'll replace it. And would you say adding a bit of oil around the new sensor seal is necessary or not?

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  5 лет назад

      @@cruzdeleon1888 I didn't and it's fine
      ...my wife's car (same as in this video) now has a misfire in cylinder 1 so I would also look at spark plug replacement as it was running rough with the code P0301 (misfire in cylinder 1)

    Do I have to remove the map sensor to spray valve cleaner in through the throttle body?

    • @EricDIY
      @EricDIY  3 года назад +1

      I'm not positive but it's easy to remove if you want to. Just plug it up if you do. I would think that it would be ok to leave it seeing that there will probably be remnants of the valve cleaner after it goes in. If the directions just say to spray it in the throttle body, you should probably be fine with it in.
