Don't forget that Edinburgh lies on the coast and has great promenades, beaches and of course Crammond Island that you can walk to when the tide is out.
4:18 I had to rewind and listen again when you said "Greyfriar's Bobby" so eloquently 😆😆 Super helpful video, gonna check many of these site out this week 😀👍
Lovely vid!! Thank you! We are going there the first two weeks in May and hoping for less crowds and better weather. Can't wait to see your beautiful country!
Haha I enjoyed watching it! I will be coming to Edinburgh at the end of this month. Very helpful to know the vibe of each corner of the city in advance, thank you!
Love the video, amazingly informative. Just got to say as someone from Florida. those were yucca not palm trees XD. But again, love the video, moving there next week and can't wait to explore.
With a little more time, I also recommend exploring out further. The Shore at Leith is a really nice neighbourhood to take in. The Union Canal is really nice to walk along, from Fountainbridge to about Polwarth where a lot of boating takes place. Lots of parks there to chill out in too.
Just a wee note......its Circus Lane not Citrus Lane. Holyrood is pronounced like the plant Holly. Thanks for showing my area Stockbridge and the Dean Path. The bailie Bar does amazing food!! Nice tour x
Haha, I must have had the old nightclub in my mind when I put on the text - thanks for clearing that up (and the pronunciation) 🙌 Thanks for your comment 🏴
Hey, Julen here from the Basque Country. I'm visiting Edinburgh in about 2 weeks and I wanted to ask you if you recommend the visit to the Scottish Parliament, my mum is really interested in visiting it but I don't think the visit is a must based on your video and other videos I've been recently watching. Thanks a lot for the info given during the video, it has been very helpful pal
Hi Julen, thanks for your kind words. Tbh I've never visited the Scottish Parliament myself so I wouldn't know... I've only seen it from the outside and that's definitely not that big a deal 😅

Tak for at dele den super fine video! Et hurtigt spørgsmål - Hvordan er det med nytår i Edinburgh? Hvis man rejser derover for at fejre nytår, er alt så lukket 31.12+01.01 ligesom i 🇩🇰?
Royal Yacht Britannia (top attraction to visit in UK) in Leith (1 of the best neighbourhoods in the world) where you have some of the best food locations, michelin stars and top authentic pubs to visit+ the waterfront! would have really deserved a mention from a local, as well as the whisky experience centre, Arthur Seat and gothic style of Scott monument or historic underground tours. Thanks for the nice video.. oh, and do you want to know where to buy fairly priced souvenirs, local books and local cultural guides?
Great suggestions! I highly recommend going out to Leith, and I've also included Leith and Leith Shore in my written Edinburgh guides. And I miss going to the old Port O' Leith on a random Tuesday night 😀 Unfortunately, my time in Edinburgh was limited when I recorded this video, so I couldn't make it out there. The same goes for Arthur's Seat and the Whisky Experience, but you're totally right - they 100% deserved to be in the video. Thanks for the comment 🙌 🏴

Hi! I’m planning a day trip with my daughter who’ll be 18months when we come to Edinburgh in April 25, I was wondering if Scotland is easy to travel around via public transports. I’m a single mum so a little nervous travelling but desperate to see Edinburgh and know I just need to go do it. I’m planning on getting the coach from London, arriving early morning. First stop getting breakfast at going to Calton Hill, then strolling through the town before heading to the zoo then back to the city for ice cream and dinner before our coach back to London at 9:30pm If you have any other child/toddler friendly ideas I’d love to hear!
I recommend the train rather than a bus. Booking ahead, I was able to get a first class ticket for cheaper than a regular ticket bought on the day. Yes, it’s easy to get around on public transport. I’m from Canada and refuse to drive on the “other” side of the road. 🤪. It seems like a very long trip for just one day. Try to stay for three or four days. There’s so much to see.
Good day. We are attending a wedding in Newcastle and are flying in and out of Edinburgh (from the US). After the wedding we decided to spend 4 days in Edinburgh and enjoy the city (first time). We are staying at the Hilton Carlton as I turned in my hotel points, so the lodging was not an additional cost. So we have reviewed many, many different websites, blogs, etc. and it seems that each one has different recommendations. There is an genuine honesty in your video's and we are leaning towards your suggestions. Questions? The main touristy locations are not really our desire, but are they warranted to visit? And since we are there for 4 full days, are there any additional (not so touristy) places/attractions and perhaps your favorite restaurants/pubs. Thanks.
I will b going to Edinburgh in mid of Sept for 2 days. Shud I take hop on hop off bus to visit these places. Will b staying in city centre. Also planning to book tour of Loch Ness, Glenceo and Highlands one day tour of 12 hrs. Kindly recommend
I don't think going on a hop on hop off bus in Edinburgh is a good idea, tbh. The city is very walkable and a lot of the "good stuff" are down the small alleys.
Oh, you’d be RUSHING so I think I’d rather choose the things you really want to do and concentrate on them (so you also get to just chill a bit and enjoy the city) 🏴
Anywhere but on the Royal Mile 😀 There are a lot of souvenir shops all over Edinburgh, so you won't struggle to find souvenirs. I'd recommend checking out the shops in Victoria Street where the shops generally have a different take on the classic touristy souvenirs, for example, The Red Door Gallery next door to the Harry Potter shop. Hope that helps - let me know if you've got any other Edinburgh travel questions 🏴
Greyfriars Bobby is not the only historical story about dogs. We live in west lothian a few miles from Linlithgow, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. There is local lore set in medieval days, the story of The black bitch, she was a black greyhound whos master was imprisoned on a island to starve to death, his family used to wrap food up and attach it to her, where she would swim across the water to give it to him every day. unfortunately authorities heard about this, they caught and shackled her to a nearby island where both she and her master starved to death.
@@billbansheeedinburgh1172 The Shore is still pretty chill. But I got accosted down there recently by a French tourist trying to find Dean Village. TBH, I don’t mind tourists at their current level. If it got to Venice or Florence levels, however……
