Vinnie you should do alot more of this on your RUclips channel.. this might seem like common practice to some of us but I'm sure some are mind blown.. And I'm sure you have tips that will blow the minds of 20 yr machinist/mechanics like myself
Great Job Vinnie....That is such a helpful tip for those of us who like to tinker with our rides without nicking up our knuckles! As always hope The DiMartino Clan is Strutting with a Smile! Cheers From Ohio
I’ve modified old dies & taps to use strictly for chasing threads of all kinds. A little thing like that can turn a really bad day into a day of rainbows 🌈 & unicorns 🦄 lol. Thanks again Vinnie, love the channel brother.
File this under “why the hell didn’t I think of that” Lol thanks for sharing Vin! Wish I would have known this little trick before, but definitely gonna keep this ace up my sleeve for the next time this happens to me! (Which will probably be in the next few days lol) Take care!
I hear you man. Just trying to show different ways to break Frozen bolts loose. I honestly try to avoid using an angle grinder at all costs. Must be all those years of grinding I can't stand the Dust LOL thanks for the comment bro
Great tip! This seems more to make the threads easier once the bolt is loosened. Idk how much this helps at the point where between the bolt and nut (when it is tightened completely)
Vinnie, glad you're okay after having it. I was in the hospital on oxygen with it, but got a clean bill of health last Wednesday. I'm a new subscriber because I decided to see what you were up to and I came across your chat with Paul Jr. Thanks for the shock tip, I've literally cut them off with a torch before. They do suck! From, the Rockies of Utah.🍻
Vinnie man would love to see more videos, you and Paul jr made me want to learn to weld to build cool chopper bicycles when I was in high school thank you
I have noticed to with certain bolts that if I heat them first then spray PB blaster on them they 9/10 come loose without snapping, not sure if you ever have tried that method too but I forgot about using a tap & die clean the threads nicely done sir
I do pretty much the same thing. I just take my tiny Tim saw and whack the rusted threads off right above that nut. The put some oil on the top. Then clamp with locking pliers it spins right off. Either way works really well!!!
Hey Vinnie DiMartino! Freakin nice tool! Do you have a set of them in both Imperial and metric? Greetings from Vancouver British Columbia Canada! Ride ride ride!
My gosh Vinnie...your getting to be an old'Fart. When I first saw you working for the Big"Goof you were just a kid. Don't worry...I'm a lot older old'Fart than you are! heheheee
As a Journeyman machinist I have a full set of die's in my garage as well. My problem is I never know 100% which die to use. I've actually eff'ed up bolts using the wrong die. lol.
Vinnie I wish you would put out some more videos buddy. Maybe a life update or shop update or just a little video to say whatever you want to tell your fans.Hope you and the family are doing well. 😎👍🤘🔥💯
Dude, you know how many times I’ve snapped a rusted out shock bolt and busted my knuckles on a shock tower or inner fender well. I just started chasing threads with a die a few years ago when my pop was like “hey dumbass what the hell are you doing you’re going to split your knuckles open”. Now shit pops thanks for letting me bleed for the past 15 years before you showed me. 🤣🤣 oh well. Vinny I wish you made this video a few years ago lol. Absolutely awesome content man keep it coming. 👊🏼
Nice tip, but in this case I'd rather just cut the top off with a sawzall, takes 2 seconds and its off. However your method will work better in a tight spot.
Snap on makes a socket that fits the oval on end of the threaded shaft. I have two sizes. I put that on ratchet and hold nut with wrench. Never fails. Putting on an impact will f the seals up in your shock though..
Every neighbour needs a vinny as the garages are ripping us off
So true!
Hi
Please have your own tv show. Would be so cool to see you on Discovery again.
Yeah thatd be nice but theyd tell him or his crew how to act n stuff. Nahh I think he just like to make his own vids n teaching vids in my opinion.
@@Roger-hp1yg well hopefully he would have more free will of what's going on. He being his own boss.

I've been doing this stuff for over 35 years and never thought of using a die to clean up rusty threads. Slick trick Vin. Thanks for sharing!

Good job, Vinnie! Old chassis parts can be a pain! My '41 COE was full of 'em.
Thanks for sharing Vin, good to hear from u again!😎👍

Nice one Vin 👍
File this under “why the hell didn’t I think of that”

Way to go Vinnie... Never thought of that trick
The tricks of the trade ,thanks Vinnie .
Vinnie my man! Love seeing you on youtube. Keep up the videos!
Good idea but me personally if I can get an angle grinder in there with a cutoff wheel I'm cutting it off
I hear you man. Just trying to show different ways to break Frozen bolts loose. I honestly try to avoid using an angle grinder at all costs. Must be all those years of grinding I can't stand the Dust LOL thanks for the comment bro
Hahaha..thats the gravy way.
Nice to see you again, man. God bless you and your loved ones
Cake... great now I'm hungry.
Hey, good to hear from you again, glad to see you got your own thing going.
One of those tips that we never knew we needed, lost count of how many times I've had to wipe away lumps of skin after slipping off a frozen bolt.
Thanks for the tip Vinnie.
On my crown vic I just snapped it off by bending with a deep socket. You aren't getting to the shaft of the shock.
There ya go big guy.
Great tip! This seems more to make the threads easier once the bolt is loosened. Idk how much this helps at the point where between the bolt and nut (when it is tightened completely)
Great, now I want cake!
Nice to see ya!
Lmfao!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like a piece o cake! Awesome Vin

Vinnie, glad you're okay after having it. I was in the hospital on oxygen with it, but got a clean bill of health last Wednesday. Vinnie I've been subscribed for the longest
I own a shop too. I do this also but also I use a small handheld sandblaster too depending on the situation.
I have noticed to with certain bolts that if I heat them first then spray PB blaster on them they 9/10 come loose without snapping, not sure if you ever have tried that method too but I forgot about using a tap & die clean the threads nicely done sir
Nice job vin.... that could have saved me some busted knuckles
I do pretty much the same thing. I just take my tiny Tim saw and whack the rusted threads off right above that nut. The put some oil on the top. Then clamp with locking pliers it spins right off.
Either way works really well!!!
👍👍👍
Like cake!!! Thanks Vinnie!

As a Journeyman machinist I have a full set of die's in my garage as well. My problem is I never know 100% which die to use. I've actually eff'ed up bolts using the wrong die. lol.
In all honesty Vin, I was expecting dynamite to be involved. 😜🤙
Smooth as butter 😎
Hi Vinnie ,Boston ma
oxy acetylene torch works too.

You’re a f*****g genius!!!
Looks a lot like what we see in Michigan. I hate salt!
Salt n rust. The cancer of vehicles.
Cool man. It's even easier if you can get someone else to do it.
VINCENT
I liked the video and have been subscribed.
i cut it off with a torch lol
Lol. I was very close to getting out the torch LOL but figured it was a good opportunity for filming some alternative options!
Vince you should make a toolbox tour and then your roll art tour
Vinnie I wish you would put out some more videos buddy. Maybe a life update or shop update or just a little video to say whatever you want to tell your fans.Hope you and the family are doing well. 😎👍🤘🔥💯
yo vinnie. love the tips but you gotta put more content out. Love to see a lot more. Be Well.......
What brand are those dies?
Snap on thread chaser. When I get back to work I'll send you the exact part number they are pretty awesome for chasing or repairing threads
Dude, you know how many times I’ve snapped a rusted out shock bolt and busted my knuckles on a shock tower or inner fender well. I just started chasing threads with a die a few years ago when my pop was like “hey dumbass what the hell are you doing you’re going to split your knuckles open”. Nice tip, but in this case I'd rather just cut the top off with a sawzall, takes 2 seconds and its off. However your method will work better in a tight spot.
That works alot better than what I usually do, piss and moan and cry........just alittle bit.
Snap on makes a socket that fits the oval on end of the threaded shaft. I have two sizes. I put that on ratchet and hold nut with wrench. Never fails. Putting on an impact will f the seals up in your shock though..
Brilliant
