I have noticed to with certain bolts that if I heat them first then spray PB blaster on them they 9/10 come loose without snapping, not sure if you ever have tried that method too but I forgot about using a tap & die clean the threads nicely done sir

I do pretty much the same thing. I just take my tiny Tim saw and whack the rusted threads off right above that nut. The put some oil on the top. Then clamp with locking pliers it spins right off.
    Either way works really well!!!

Dude, you know how many times I’ve snapped a rusted out shock bolt and busted my knuckles on a shock tower or inner fender well. I just started chasing threads with a die a few years ago when my pop was like “hey dumbass what the hell are you doing you’re going to split your knuckles open”. Now shit pops thanks for letting me bleed for the past 15 years before you showed me. 🤣🤣 oh well. Vinny I wish you made this video a few years ago lol. Absolutely awesome content man keep it coming. 👊🏼

  • @spikerbrad23

Nice tip, but in this case I'd rather just cut the top off with a sawzall, takes 2 seconds and its off. However your method will work better in a tight spot.

Snap on makes a socket that fits the oval on end of the threaded shaft. I have two sizes. I put that on ratchet and hold nut with wrench. Never fails. Putting on an impact will f the seals up in your shock though..
