      Expressions of support lacking military endorsement is inconsequential. The United States government is not in a position to conscript its citizens into conflict for the benefit of a select few wealthy individuals and corporations over international territories. The United States would never enter into a conflict with China over the Philippines' contested territories, similar to its non-involvement with Russia over Crimea, Donbass and other Ukrainian territories, or the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in Georgia, nor in reaction to the slow encroachment on Georgian lands predominantly inhabited by ethnic Georgians. Likewise, the United States will take military action against China regarding Taiwan, aside from temporary sanctions and more arms sales similar to Ukraine.

    China aspires to be the hegemon in this region; yet repeatedly, it engages in acts of bullying and harassment towards its neighboring countries, such as Japan, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Bhutan. How can it expect to garner support when it fails to foster peaceful coexistence and cooperation? It baffles me since this behavior drives these countries to move towards the West, a consequence entirely of China's own provocations.

      When I was a kid, I remember hearing all these other kids telling each other wrong info. Then I realized that's why and how people think the USA is wrong because most adults have below avg education. After WW2, the USA owned half the world, and everyone was shocked that the USA let everyone be free instead of colonies. The biggest winner of this freedom was China because USA gave them all the jobs and money and even protected China's oil supply with middle east conflicts. The homeless people are homeless because their jobs and money are in China. Like Energy and Matter, money doesn't get destroyed, it moves from country to country and the country with the most unbalanced growth is China. The USA didn't need oil, that was for everyone else and especially China. China and Russia knows the UN will allow countries to be invaded and taken over like Xinjiang if they have riots so they promote instability around the world, while the USA promotes stability because that's the job all the countries want them to do or they won't exist. Stupidly, China has the most to lose if things change because they are the biggest winner of the status quo.

      I will disagree. Rather, it is fortunate that these soldiers were able to handicap themselves from the apparent assault, which have saved us from a possible much bigger problem.
      The unfortunate thing here is they are serving under shortsighted military officials who sent them out there without a plan against these gray zone tactics. The western command should have seen this coming as China is not above nor are they new to such tactics. They have used such tactics in their border skirmish with India, and have used this before on the Vietnamese before they eventually escalated it to actual lead exchange. They should have sent these men with hand weapons mainly for their own protection more than saving face in the media.

      Chinese Communist Party and The Communist Party of Vietnam had Secret Agreement to Secretly Gang up the Philippines by Jointly Pursuit of their Territorial Expansionism in the Spratly Islands in the West Philippine Sea, while Vietnam would agreed to stop it's reclaiming of PRC-occupied Paracel Islands, allowing it to focus on it's Expansion in the Spratly's. Remember, that it's Vietnam whose started to occupied and subsequently Militarized it, as well as seizures of Philippine-controlled Islands thru deceptive means, and also the first to Reclaimed Formerly Low-tide Elavations that's either non-occupied but still considered part of the Philippines, they even started it by building Fishermen Shelters as an Excuse when called by the Philippines, until it went become Full-blown Militarized Station occupied by Vietnamese Military.
      It's also had similar Secret Agreements with Malaysia.

    According to the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Armed Forces Gen Brawner, and Western Command GOC RAdm Torres Jr, the CCG rammed and boarded the RHIBs. Because of the ramming speed, the CCG's RHIB went over, the Philippine Navy RHIB. The sailor lost his thumb because of the ram when he was bracing onto the boat. The 2 Philippine Navy RHIBs were overwhelmed and squeezed by 8 CCG RHIBs.
    The CCG also smashed navigation equipment, looted the disassembled and encased rifles (dumping them later), smashed the outboard motor of the Philippine Navy RHIB, and slashed the RHIB with the bladed weapons they brandished against the sailors.
    None of the Philippine Navy sailors were armed as SOP in the resupply mission to avoid misperception of an armed operation.

      @a_kazakis 3 месяца назад +9

      Wait what? The 2 situations have nothing in common. Greek islands in the Mediterranean are actually inhabited by Greeks (and have been inhabited for thousands of years). China here is trying to claim an almost underwater reef, that is obviously uninhabited. Also, Greek islands are within Greece's exclusive economic zone, unlike China's claims. There are literally no parallels in the two situations.
