Happiness is elusive. We look to others to find it. We worship at ideological altars. At the altars of people pretending to have our best interests at heart. And find that they are as, if not more unhappy than we are. The only happiness i have found, that is lasting…is in my state of mind. I am not religious. I believe in my God. No one else’s. A universal creator. Creating a state of mind of happiness for me with the ability to speak and think my thoughts.
I like the direction of this man's ideals, though I don't see it as transcendentalism per se, more like experience changing the nature of being, but because experience can change a nature for the worse which wouldn't necessarily be transcendent at least initially, it can bear transcendental qualities of a positive nature.
The answers come from within. Beware the Buddha on the road who supplies all the answers. That also includes organized religion and organized psychology for that matter, with their bible of what is normal and what is not, setting boundaries on what can or should be worked on in therapy. Like Emerson, I suffered a great loss at age eight. I lost my mother ... but not before she inflicted a terrible wound on me at age four. Curious? Consider my moniker.
What if you don't believe in "the inherent goodness of people"? What do you do then? What if there's only one thing you're halfway good at, but cannot make a living from that talent? More psychobabble.
Valid point. Everyone has different beliefs, I believe it will continue to be an ongoing debate. The bottom line is that what can you do to make the best out of each situation you run into. Check out the argument of Nathaniel Hawthorne to Mark Twain as it was briefly discussed in the video. Thanks for your comment!
Then you suffer different consequences, don't you? So what psychobabble do YOU "believe" in? For equal psychobabble it will probably be, my friend, the only difference being it's yours rather than someone else's...hmmm...Trust yourself? Lol. Have a good one!
