Salary potential also has to do with what type of job you take. In my area, contracting dev jobs are becoming more and more common but they definitely pay a ton more. I’m currently making $52 an hour as a React and React Native dev. There was also another 6 month contract near by for $65 an hour. Granted, contracting isn’t for everyone as you never really stay in one place for too long, but you gain a ton of exposure to many different companies and technologies while making pretty decent money. I even know contractors that work only 8 months out of the year because they make all of the money they care to make in that amount of time and then take the rest of the year off. So keep that in mind, full time positions aren’t the only ones out there.
Wow! I didn't know that information. I thought only health-care workers had the option to work contracts and take off when they want! Now, I'm interested in this field. I mainly want flexibility because I don't want to work 5 days a week all year long. I want some freedom in my work schedule.

You can work in the coastal cities, you don’t have to live in it. There is trains, Busses, cars you can commute to work and live 45 mins away from the main city and still make 6 figure salary but pay way less in rent.
I feel like my TC for the job I'm getting post-graduation is pretty good for an entry-level and for the area I'll be in. Medium COL places from my observation seem to be pretty great (for now at least) because they pay maybe 10-15k less than they do in high COL areas but the rent, food, transportation and almost anything else is much much cheaper to the point that it more than makes up for that loss of base salary.

Get your basics at a community college so you can save money, then transfer to a 4 years university. If you don’t have any programming experience that’s fine just work on small projects outside of the school schedule so you can get internships offers during school break. Good luck.
They don’t “call” themselves engineers. It’s what the job title is. If you look at the core curriculum of a computer science or computer engineering degree which a vast majority of Software ENGINEERS I know have, they all took engineer and math courses all throughout college. Software engineer is an accurate title imo.
That’s about the same in California, and the averages they post couldn’t be more wrong lol... companies will pay you pennies if they can, and a handful of companies might payout if they see the value in you... but the bar is very very high, so I would just start my own company
If Base salary around $200k in Google include Base salary+Benefits+Bonuses-stock etc for a Fresh Grad student then what is the 20+ years of experienced Senior SWE salary at Google lol ? $1M+ ? And these salaries are reachable for 80+% of the SWE workers or these numbers are for the top 5-10% ?
No, base salary for entry-level SWE position at Google is not on average $200k. For entry-level at Google, it's on average $110-$150k base salary + RSUs over 4 years + bonus so maybe about $200k compensation per year if you divide everything equally (or more depending on experience, COL, and specific area of interest at Google aka Web dev, Mobile dev, ML/AI, etc). The higher level you go as a SWE at Google is $160k-$300k base salary + all RSUs + bonus. However, only a small and very selective people end up getting promoted to Senior, Staff, Senior Staff SWE. Majority of the SWEs at Google stay as just Software Engineer in the first 2 levels. Senior Staff SWE probably makes an estimated $700k compensation per year but they will probably have 20+ years of experience and only a very few people make it there (esp to Staff, Senior Staff, Principal, etc).

Hi Gyasi. My question is how many credit hours do we need do get a master degree in software engineering? I know that bachelor degree is 120 right? and can we call you a software engineer with a bachelor degree? Thanks!
Who cares about cost of living.... I know they base salaries on that but I really don't see how it's relevant.... The value of your work does not depend on your location.... The complaint intensity does....
Cost of living is talked about a lot. But lets REALLY consider outside of these factors alone. One is New York City. Or one city is San Francisco, CA/Silicon Valley. The other is Cleveland. Yes, it sucks not having a HIGHER quality of life than Norfolk, VA, but do you really care? You live in the mecca of tech or the biggest city in the world. Theres so many amazing things about living in SF and NYC that blows Cleveland out the water. No offense bro. Midwestern cities suck, I know Im from Chicago, and lived and seen midwestern towns. Theres nothing there outside of social stuff. Being at a big tech company in a real city is worth it. I have lived in L.A., D.C. Seattle, NYC, Chicago...I've also lived in tiny towns. Its all personality. I'd rather live in a tiny apartment in NYC or SF for the environment vs a big 4 bedroom house in the middle of a cornfield or decaying rust belt region hands down! Living vs living a shell of a life.
Yo guys im looking at a career shift but I'm looking into the options of remote only options because I'm moving out of the USA to Spain. Anyone have knowledge to drop about base salary for entry level soft engineers/devs for 100% remote because based on the visa I'm applying for I won't be allowed to get a job from a Spanish company. Tough to find this info when salary avg is based on working for companies that are in the same city/country you live in.
Salary starts low but grows fairly quickly in growing tech markets. Moved to Denver to work for a defense contractor right after graduating in 2016 starting at 70k. in the 3 1/2 years i was with them salary went to 97k. Just got a job with amazon here in Denver with a base salary of 160k. So if you play your cards right and continue to develop your skills the money is out there. But i will say the work/life balance and benefits are worse at amazon than at my previous employer.

Thank you and Adobe Premiere Pro!
Do you ever go to the Pycon events in Cleveland? I went in 2019 and it was really cool but Cleveland is a very expensive city.
Would you consider WGU online college a good place to get a computer science degree at or just go the university route?
Get your basics at a community college so you can save money, then transfer to a 4 years university. If you don’t have any programming experience that’s fine just work on small projects outside of the school schedule so you can get internships offers during school break. Good luck.
Angel Moreta I like that idea more than doing wgu, I’ll be able to build more connections in college as well . Thanks for the advice.
I think many "IT" folks like to call themselves engineers which is why the nation average is so low.. The actual average is 120k for a senior dev...
They don’t “call” themselves engineers. It’s what the job title is. If you look at the core curriculum of a computer science or computer engineering degree which a vast majority of Software ENGINEERS I know have, they all took engineer and math courses all throughout college. Software engineer is an accurate title imo.
Nice video man it's nice hearing the perspective for cleveland. Where would you say are some good spots to shoot video/take photos in Cleveland
What country are your parents from?
USA!
@@GyasiLinje are you African American ethnically?
Gyasi Linje fr bro, you got a cool name, do Yk the origin of it?
Cleveland 🙌🏾
BIG 216
That’s about the same in California, and the averages they post couldn’t be more wrong lol... companies will pay you pennies if they can, and a handful of companies might payout if they see the value in you... but the bar is very very high, so I would just start my own company
Wat job gives highest salary in lowest cost state how do i beat this odd
You can live in brooklyn or queens where its cheaper in nyc
What do you know about mechatronics engineering?
Me watching my computer at 144p and still be lagging
My question is i am so confused cuz i am not on CS background.
Is web or app developer are also software developer/engineer??
hey, could i have a job while going to flight school? because my ultimate aim is to become a pilot and i’m a computer science student right now
Are these Avarages per annum or per month ?
Senior Staff SWE probably makes an estimated $700k compensation per year but they will probably have 20+ years of experience and only a very few people make it there (esp to Staff, Senior Staff, Principal, etc).
if i work in silicon valley or new york as a software engineer or anything, i need to be homeless guy or live in orphanage for some months to save some money.its too much bro $3000 for a room like...WTF!
Lol of course new your is more expensive than cali
what is the name of that first beat?
Bro with remote work, you can easily make over 100k base pay living in any city in the US. You are way under pay in my opinion.
At the time my job was based out of a city who’s cost of living is low but def one of the reasons I got a new job in a bigger city
After I get my GED how long will it take to become a software engineer? Please respond I’m 23 by the way . What age would I be finished 🙂

My dear brother I have many question regarding
What are the salary
Individual employee in a same company who is going back hand front end
I want you to make a video about the salary of each person working in a Google and explain the viewers were watching your video that everyone gets the same salary with less amount of work and those who are working hard they get more and which kind of role is paying the most salary in a Google so we can understand in a journal every company will pay you the same or less for that role you are playing in the company

Hi Gyasi. My question is how many credit hours do we need do get a master degree in software engineering? I know that bachelor degree is 120 right? and can we call you a software engineer with a bachelor degree?
Thanks!
$150k Base salary for entry lvl wtf??? As welder $40k as senior holy cow!!!!!
Software Engineers make a pretty respectable income but Cybersecurity is where the big money is.
Is that true? If I was a sophomore CS student right now, what would be the best way for me to get into the field, you think?
75k per month or year??
Heyyy Cleveland ✨
Who cares about cost of living.... I know they base salaries on that but I really don't see how it's relevant.... The value of your work does not depend on your location.... The complaint intensity does....
4K 🔥
💪🏾
1.25× speed and it sounds normal
Yo guys im looking at a career shift but I'm looking into the options of remote only options because I'm moving out of the USA to Spain. Anyone have knowledge to drop about base salary for entry level soft engineers/devs for 100% remote because based on the visa I'm applying for I won't be allowed to get a job from a Spanish company. Tough to find this info when salary avg is based on working for companies that are in the same city/country you live in.
I need to ask for a raise!
Coding Phase randomly in the comments? lol. Dope.
I’m in last year informatic eng and hate coffe
I would work for 15k all day. Too bad i'm not in US 😂
