I heard that he wrote this during his getting help between the Perception and The Search albums. His therapist told him to talk to his younger self. So he wrote this. Amazing dude. #NF

Fun fact: Nate checked himself into a mental hospital, after talking to the doctor he presented a project, it was to write a letter to his younger self and express what he would say to him….. thank you to that doctor we got “Nate”
Fun Fact: This was an experimental exercise while in Therapy to write a letter to his younger self. This is what he came up with. The man can only express (explain/explore) himself through music. NF never checked in.
NF takes us on a trip with this track. Allows us to see how his burdens effect how he would warn his younger self. A top 5 track on this album for sure.
The referral that he makes about his mom's boyfriend is more than likely the boyfriend that abused her kids. He refers to him in 2 songs, "Mansion" & Intro 3 (where he called him "Johnny").

The background you hear at the beginning and ending of the song is from an old video of friends and family singing Happy Birthday to him, great reaction 🔥

Never would I have thought that you would come up with “mom’s a killer”. I was almost rolling when you were freaking out! I appreciate your appreciation for the artistry that is Nate(person and track!). My favorite bar is “I know some things we could avoid to save embarrassment, but everything that breaks you down can also build your character.” We all, at one point in our lives, have that moment where we wish we could go back/start over. But if we were actually able to do so and avoid all the mistakes and wrong choices, we wouldn’t be the same person we are today. We would sacrifice our character(person and personality) to be someone completely different than who we are now. It’s wild that he paints such a picture with that bar that can incite such deep revelation and conversation. 🔥 reaction as always, my guy. Can’t wait for the next one!

He has only talked about the mums boyfriends who abused him in the songs mansion and intro 3 and in both songs he doesnt go into too much details just little things that are dark and surprising

I appreciate your reactions bro but sometimes try not to think too much into it until the song develops... When you were focusing on him talking about his mom hiding her boyfriend in the trunk and then not allowing it to go to the next line it was driving me crazy LOL
Suggestion pause less….I know you’re trying to catch the “bar(s)”, but you miss the whole line in the process of the story he’s telling thru each descriptive bar. Pause less, catch more. Like I said just a small suggestion. I still thoroughly enjoy watching your reaction videos. Thanks.
