I have that exact kit, same colour and everything. It's worked well for me. I'm very pleased with how they both look and perform. I think it's wrong to infer that these are for low end PC's.. They are made well, with materials good enough for any system outside of industrial server environments. I have a high end system but I just can't justify to myself spending silly money on simple cables, the wire gauge is plenty enough to attach to my AX1600i and overclocked components. They're all just sleeved copper wire at the end of the day.
@@InsanityRises why would it? tempered glass functions the same as any other closed case. As long as there's airflow through the front, back, top, and bottom, airflow should not be a problem at all.
I used the UpHere extension kit (blue/white) for my first build. They’re the exact same as the ones featured in this video, both in concept and form. They were a pleasure to work with, and I will certainly use them again in future builds :)
With these colored cables yeah I agree. But i have a red white and black build so i bought these in those colors. So in this case yeah ur right but otherwise maybe not
I have this kit in the black, grey and white! Definitely looks and feels premium for the price. My psu is the Asus Rog Strix 750w 80+ gold which has some pretty nice stock cables but the the color combo makes your build look amazing without having to pay a premium. Ended up putting that extra money towards other things in my build. Well worth it! Awesome video too!
I have the Asia Horse cable extension kit also in black/grey. Even though I already had all black cables from my EVGA psu, the cable extensions just take the look to the next level. I would highly recommend the Asia Horse extensions. They're virtually the exact same as what was shown in this video and they include cable combs in both black and white.
If you want to stay on a budget and don’t feel like hassling with these extensions then what I would actually recommend is using fans that have one color LEDs because you can use ketchup and mustard colors and they are guaranteed to be a much lower price. If you look at the prices of fans then the cheapest ones are like the ones from the early 00’s that look like ketchup and mustard even though they were more expensive when they were made. This is because they made too much and now that the craze of fully transparent plastic and one color LEDs are out of fashion they are extremely great for getting good performance on a budget build. I mean you buy 5-6 fans for $20 and you end up with something that looks slightly more expensive. They key here is aesthetic, as Lo-Fi is becoming increasingly popular. Imagine a sleeper PC with 00’s aesthetic, now that’s style. Do you have a cheap case with acrylic? Paint the window with ketchup and mustard! Do you have a stock cpu cooler? Paint it with mustard and ketchup! How about those pesky USB ports? Paint it with mayonnaise! Pretty soon you’ll be gettin’ the vibe. Just remember, if it looks like trash then it must be trash, so make a trash PC for aesthetic. You know, like how they played trash cans in the 90’s as part of music pieces. Because why not, Just go with it!
Thanks for the end bit that explains the need for cable combs. I have the coolermaster black extension cable kit. Very happy with it. It took me a while to get the point of the cable combs when I added the cables to my build.
I used extensions for the 1st time on my new build in a Lian Li 011D Evo, bright yellow ones that really stood out in the black case and adequate room in the power supply chamber for cable management. Still, it was a lot of cables crammed in there and I ended up taking the extensions out and just going with the black PSU cables which blended in with the case. I used those U-shaped adaptors for the GPU which worked great at cutting down on cable clutter.
Dang these ketchup and Mustard cables are really killing the vibe on my PC, thanks for recommending something that's actually matches the theme for my PC xD
Dang these are pretty fire. I like the red/white colorway version. Swag on a budget. Hella yea. It's nice to treat myself with some swagger once in a while. It gets stressful to be in full price to performance mode all the time.
Thanks dude! I'm gonna be making my first PC, and I've decided I'm gonna paint the graphics card shroud a nice lavender or purple color and then get some purple cable extensions, thanks for helping me solidify this decision!
thank you i bought i think the same cables but all white from amazon and it came in the same box and i didnt know how to use them until now. i also have almost all of my pc parts and im going to build my first pc as soon as the parts arrive. so keep a close eye on my channel if you want to see. the total cost if the pc is around 1.5k and i hope you guys come and watch the video when i upload it dont worry abt my old content its cringe but ill make better in the future
These are favorite cable extensions. Use them in both my rigs and they are long enought to hide my Lepa 1000w PSU and 1000w Rosewill Glacier cables down in PSU shroud. Wish I could post a pic of the cable management.
I bought these in black for my build but in my corsair crystal 456x case it did add alot of cludder cause i have tons of rgb and corsair rgb hub and commander pro but for 30 bux shipped and in 1 day delivery i couldnt resist. These cheap cables are very good quality though so thumbs up. Btw they sell extra cable combs for 5 bux i used 2 of the 4 24 pin connector combs and modified 2 of them to work and hold both 8 pin and 6 pin cable on my rtx card and worked perfect.
I have the exact same color kit from Asia Horse, which bitwit recommended and I love them. I had to use extensions because there are no cables for the EVGA BQ power supply.
Look good for sure, but kinda a waste for a 300USD build IMO. In that price range, every unnecessary 10 dollar is was waste. For a system of like 600, this is nice for the price!
I just build a 2500K system this week with all the modern bells and whistles, you could call it a reverse sleeper build, >600€ build with only 60€ worth of CPU+GPU inside, i've build it for my Dad, he is no gamer, all he needs is a facebook machine (heck, he'd be happy with an Intel NUC) but he deserves something that looks awesome so i went all out on it (within reason, no insane RGB, static LED lighting, but TG and cable extensions and everything you'd want in a modern build). He wants to do some Music recording and mixing with it... that really doesn't need much horse power, the most intensive thing that system will ever do is play some youtube videos. SSD, RAM and PSU are solid choices though and if it ever needs an upgrade this thing is future proof as hell.
That look just like the cables Thermaltake have, even the box look the same just with different print, maybe came from the same source or something. those cables are really good,i use them in a few build
When I had my FX-8320 + R9 290 build, it was a black and red theme, so I have a set still in storage. When I went with RGB for my current rig, I decided to go with just black. Although early last month, and maybe it was a good call, I decided to throw my 9 y/o niece a rig together--mix of new and old. It was her first PC. Honestly, she doesn't play demanding games (mostly Injustice Gods Among Us and Burnout Paradise Remastered)...but also, with the coronavirus, she's now being home schooled and has access to a lot of resources. The whole theme of her build was black, white and purple. So she has my old R9 290 and FX-8320, 990FXA-UD3, 16GB DDR3, 750W PSU, Crucial MX500 1TB--wrapped in a Phanteks P300 in white with the EZDIY-FAB black and purple cable extensions. She also has RGB fans by EZDIY-Fab, their RGB heat spreaders, and a Wraith Prism RGB (was unused, I tossed it aside when I got my 2700X, in favour of an AiO)--RGB set to purple. Which, although it's not for the faint of heart, it might be worth covering EZDIY-Fab's RGB heat spreaders. You can get addressable, and non-addressable. I purchased Vengeance LPX in 2018 rather than RGB just because non-RGB was a lot cheaper over here in the UK back then--decided later that I wanted RGB. The difference is rather minuscule now. The addressable ones come with an adapter for Gigabyte's VDG connector, which conveniently plugs into Corsair's Lighting Node Pro...so they're sync'd with my fans, LED strips, and AiO.
I have a hard time imagining someone with a super budget PC build spending $30 on something that won't improve performance in the slightest. At that budget range every dollar counts and these are just dollars wasted.
I would imagine it would appeal to the same people that want a system with RGB lights, where image is probably as importance as performance. For $30 USD, it does improve the looks.
Well, I think this build was used for representation purpose only. Tbh, yes someone spending around $300 wouldn't bother with a $30 cable extension kit because for that you might just buy a better psu that comes with flat black cables and more warranty or if you are satisfied with your psu (most people at this budget don't really care that much about psu, as long as it's from a reputable brand and has 80+) you can buy a better gpu or add extra storage. But someone with a $800-$1000 build might. Buy a cheap pack of rgb fans and through in a $30 cable extension, will make it look significantly pretty, and it's like only 3% of the total cost.
If you're willing to wait a bit longer, you can get some custom extensions off AliExpress for around the same price. Or if you order around one of their holidays, even cheaper. I think I paid $22 and went with a dark blue plus lighter blue pattern and you get 8-pin EPS, 6+8 PCIe, and 24-pin ATX, but you can also customize if you need just 6 or 8 or if you need 8+8 PCIe. Same quality as the Asia Horse or Easy DIY off Amazon.
I used my original PSU cables took them apart with pin remover that I borrowed fro ma friend of mine, bought about 30m cable sleeve and sleeved them was around 40$ and a ton of work since it was my first I ever made, it was a slow monoton job but I will do that for my new pc too
DO NOT cheap out on extension cables. I burnt out one (cheap China one) after prolonged usage. Only buy them from reputable brands like CableMod or Coolermaster etc....
The beauty of these, and many other kits in this price range, is that when used correctly, they can often look nicer than some of the more expensive competitors. I have been using these, asiahorse, uphere, and linkup for over a year now in over 40 builds for the charity. I haven't had a single failure, they look/feel great, and they are easy enough on the budget to justify getting multiple kits to have in case you wish to change color schemes.
970 is still a great card. I just sold mine because I wanted to play flight simulator and Half Life Alyx but even titles as recent as Far Cry 5 ran beautifully on it.
It's the outer paracord sleeve, which is a type of nylon. Paracord is great for many things, but the downside here is that you have to heat shrink every end and of course take the time to sleeve every wire. If you want one color, buying paracord and doing it yourself may be cheaper. If you want more than one color, you'd be better off buying extensions.
I can’t believe what cablemod costs. I figured like $100-$125 for all the cables (which is still insane) but that’s what it costs for just the 24pin and power to a 6800xt. It’ll be $300+ to get all the cables. At that rate I’d rather just drop $80-$90 on lian li’s strimer. Even still it’s hard to spend more on cables than I did on the psu which was $130. I get that they’re quality cables but that much just to pick a few colors by the strand is absurd lol.
I feel like, when you're on a budget like that, you should save every buck you can. For exemple, if you do'nt spend these 30$ on these sleeved cables, you can save a bit to buy a better RAM kit, or one more RAM stick. I don't know, I feel like this is a bad buy/move but, this video was made to show people how to make their budget PCs look good so, it was pretty good tbh.
The cable extensions look the same (even the packaging) as the cable extensions from Thermaltake (the TtMod sleeve extensions.) The TtMod extenions from Thermaltake are a lot more expensive here in Europe though (around €60,00-ish.)
Buyers will like those $15 remote powered sata leds instead of these imo. I will purchase these though for a more premium build I sell in the future. Good info.
I did the Asia Horse black and grey in my build and had some issues with 2 of the vga cables, the 6 and 8 pin. They had loose terminals. Switched to the other 2 that came with the set and they fit a lot better. Still happy that over all it works just sad 2 of the cables were crappy.
Just got an extension kit from AliExpress.. First thing I ordered a red and black kit also the kit mentioned it was 18awg.. I wasn't much aware of the guaging an the difference in the thickness well i got a fully black kit with 18awg cables.. Feels bad man
Such a great video. I'm not sure if i want all white cables? OR black and grey. Working on a Black and white build with splaches of red. I could go White and get the ez DIY RGB cable combs to give me the splashes of red.
Don't get me wrong, Cablemod is really nice, but it's $20 flat rate shipping to the US and the shipping takes a really long time, and the custom cables have to be ordered directly with them.
Csnt agree more! For the price of CE these cables are great. I got and exter set of combs and cut a 24 pin down to a 12 pin for the GPU gables and the bunch of 12 combined into x1 comb looks way better!
Hey man.. I was wondering the same thing, but I believe these are just extension cables that have to be connected to the existing cables that come with your PSU. These are only made for extension and aesthetics, making cable management a bit tougher. If you want to replace your PSU cables completely, you would have to buy custom cables that are fit for your particular PSU (Corsair, CableMod, etc.). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I thought these were not extension cables, you know for modular power supplies only. Whats the point of having a modular power supply if you cant even use the mod cables as a replacement for the original cables that came with the psu?
Someone with a limited budget would probably not even put $30 on extension cables, but it's still considered a cheap aesthetic custom way to make the build look good. This gets a thumbs up from me as $30 is way cheaper than what others spend that have more disposable income. So I totally agree that it makes no sense to spend over $100 for custom cables despite having more disposable income or not. Personally, what makes that system look cheap is that intel cooler. It looks like a typical innards of a prebuilt Dell pc. I would change that cooler to a custom cooler first and foremost before $30 extension cable as that eliminates the look of a cheap $500 PC plus you get benefits of better cooling. a Hyper EVO 212 for $30 would be a better investment. Then later I would get the extension cables to make it look better as it eliminates the bad look of standard psu cables.
Oof, that board flex... I do that stuff'n'tuck thing, lol. If nobody can see it, does it really matter? Also, your life is hilarious XD I'd say this is a pretty good way to clean up a budget build... but if you wanna be REALLY cheap, you can get the sleeving and do it all yourself... it just takes a lot more time, lol

I got the black and white ones for $20 on sale great deal
I can’t believe what cablemod costs. I figured like $100-$125 for all the cables (which is still insane) but that’s what it costs for just the 24pin and power to a 6800xt. It’ll be $300+ to get all the cables. At that rate I’d rather just drop $80-$90 on lian li’s strimer. Even still it’s hard to spend more on cables than I did on the psu which was $130. I get that they’re quality cables but that much just to pick a few colors by the strand is absurd lol.
Cablemod is a joke, they're waaaay to overpriced for what you actually get.
The cable extensions look the same (even the packaging) as the cable extensions from Thermaltake (the TtMod sleeve extensions.)
The TtMod extenions from Thermaltake are a lot more expensive here in Europe though (around €60,00-ish.)
Cut the mustard-ketchup cables way shorter --> make an extended sleeved cable extension 😂 If you have a crimper
Just got an extension kit from AliExpress.. First thing I ordered a red and black kit also the kit mentioned it was 18awg.. I wasn't much aware of the guaging an the difference in the thickness well i got a fully black kit with 18awg cables.. Feels bad man
Adorable baby bro! Congratulations!
Handsome family there Greg. What are you feeding the baby, he's getting big!
Such a great video. I'm not sure if i want all white cables? OR black and grey. Working on a Black and white build with splaches of red. I could go White and get the ez DIY RGB cable combs to give me the splashes of red.
If you dont use a full tower, you dont need extensions, maybe fan extension, but very rare.
Protip: I use black marker to paint other ketchup-mustard cables.
I'm fine with my $80 PSU's black cables.
@@CaveyMoth I was talking more about various smaller cables: usb, case, coolers, fans etc
Don't get me wrong, Cablemod is really nice, but it's $20 flat rate shipping to the US and the shipping takes a really long time, and the custom cables have to be ordered directly with them.
Imagine the labor behind the work dude. Idc about how long it takes or the cost. I’m paying for quality.
@@venividivici4253 Hate to break it to you but the cablemod cables and these 30$ cables arent different in quality what so ever.
You look like a nerdy Andrew Garfield, great video.
I used that exact kit on my wifes pc last year. :)
I’ve got the same extension cables 30 bucks black
I have the asiahorse cable extensions. They come with black and plastic transparent cable combs. Best 30 dll investment
Csnt agree more! For the price of CE these cables are great. I got and exter set of combs and cut a 24 pin down to a 12 pin for the GPU gables and the bunch of 12 combined into x1 comb looks way better!
Are custom cable extensions for PSU's universally copmpatible? Can I use any of them with my ROG Strix 1000W PSU?
Yes, doing the same with my hx1000i
I like my Black cables that Came with my psu, rm850x just the normal cables I like Them more than sleeve cables
My guy has his combs upside down.
Thanks Greg! I transformed my PC into a Salazar-watching content BEAST!
Hey there, I noticed that these are called "extension cables". Can they be used in replacement for normal PSU Cables? (Ex. Fully Modular PSU?)
Clark Kent is full of surprises.
ohhh yes... ezdiy cable ext.. are amazing.. have always used them!
I thought these were not extension cables, you know for modular power supplies only. Whats the point of having a modular power supply if you cant even use the mod cables as a replacement for the original cables that came with the psu?
I would put that money on a cooler any day!
Great video, good topic, but really bad timing as Amazon has now suspended most "non-essential" deliveries.
35sec non skipable ad
I have no issues with ketchup and mustard cables. I just changed my RGB color scheme to Red, Orange, and Yellow. Then called it Phoenix!
nice kit thanks for sharing
decent cable extension kits have gotten quite cheap!
Where can I find short full PSU cables and not extensions? Everywhere I look I'm finding extensions.
bold of you to assume that I have a modular PSU
i bought them
AND I LOVE THEM
Nice. Do they show through the glass panel and make it ok better?
Are these safe to use? Any long term users of these extension sleeves here?
Since you're using a watch, may I know what you're wearing on this video?
It's a Scuderia Ferrari Swiss watch.
This isn't a Vincero Watch!
Greg Salazar F1 fan?
Oof, that board flex... I do that stuff'n'tuck thing, lol. If nobody can see it, does it really matter?
Also, your life is hilarious XD
I'd say this is a pretty good way to clean up a budget build... but if you wanna be REALLY cheap, you can get the sleeving and do it all yourself... it just takes a lot more time, lol
Is there a negative point when using these extention cables? is it safe to use? any negative point?
They should be fine so long as they're manufactured correctly! And most with decent reviews on Amazon certainly are.
