    wow a tutorial that actually explains the task at hand with clear step by step instructions and takes the time to answer "why we do it this way"? is this real life? subbed and liked, i know this was probably not a short process for you kudos on being so detailed in such a lengthy project! Im going to attempt my own extension with nylon sleeves and i feel a little better about doing it correctly now. The heat shrink idea was probably the most helpful, i probably would have fought with the sleeve to push it into the large crimp section of the pin to secure it (and probably ruin the overall look).

    Would Poly Monofilament Support Wire be a good wire to sleeve up if you want a sleeved wire to be able to bend and stay in place and then bend back to another position and have it stay in place? if not do you happen to know what wire cable is good for that? i don't want to make a usb or anything of that sort but i just want to make a custom cool looking sleeved wire to hold an item in place and to have the flexibility to be able to move it in a different position with out it breaking due to often bending it.

    Great video, thanks for sharing some useful tips.
    In regard to making custom cables. I know PSU's tend to use different modular connectors. I was wondering if people tend to use the connectors from the stock cables or purchase new ones to connect their cables to the PSU?.
    I'm planning on making some custom cables for a Seasonic Prime Titanium PSU.

    • @v.aesthetic3764
      @v.aesthetic3764  7 лет назад +1

      You can make a full, custom set that plugs directly in to your PSU, as long as you know the proper pin-out. That is very important. That is how I make most of my cables, but for the sake of simplicity, I used an extension in this video.

    • @Flam3h
      @Flam3h 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the reply.
      When doing this, would you normally buy new connectors (PSU end) or remove them from the stock cables?.
      Are there diagrams for the pin connections or would you just work them out from following individual wires from the stock cables?. Obviously 12v / 5v etc. has to be in a certain order for molex / SATA etc.

    • @yumirow7487
      @yumirow7487 3 года назад

      If you want to just do extensions some pair of female and male connector will do just fine (you just need to get the name of your connector ex: 24pin atx).
      If you are doing customs for your psu specifically, that's the tricky part, since you really need to be careful because layouts can widely change even between a same brand/different revisions of a model

    Awesome video! I'm wanting to run some custom cables from my PSU to the ports on the motherboard, I think I've got most of the info I need. But I'm really worried about blowing my system up for just going with my gut, for the wires that use for the cable can I just buy one roll of wire and, so long as I follow the pinout, I'm good for every cable (incl. sata and molex)?

    Got all my materials ordered, just waiting for everything to get delivered. I was wondering how difficult, or what may change, if I wanted to get a nice bend on my 8+6 GPU cable BUT the bend would be on the short side, not the long side like in this video. Would each line still be a 10mm length difference? Im asking cause my case is a vertical motherboard design (tower 900) and the wire grommets are under the GPU which means a different bend than what you would normally find. I did order 14 wire cable combs to keep all the wires neat and parallel and combine the 8+6 into essentially one cable.
