India farmer protests turn violent as talks with government fail

- In India, thousands of farmers equipped with heavy machinery prepared on Wednesday for a protest march to New Delhi deferred the government's meeting proposal after one of the protesters died amid violent clashes at the protest site, a union leader said.
"If one of us has been killed today, I don't think conducting a meeting in such an environment would be appropriate," Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a leader from the farmers' union said.
Video showed farmers scrambling away from tear gas used by police to disperse them.
As tensions rise, Indian authorities have appealed to protesting farmers to engage in a fifth round of talks.
Meanwhile, Assistant Inspector General of Police in Haryana, Manisha Chaudhary, appealed to the farmers and said, “We request them again to not bring such heavy machines to the protest site."

Do you think a 2-3 acre Haryana or Punjab farmer could take his 50 quintal of wheat to Tamil Nadu or Karnatka to sell at Rs 20 per quintal more price by spending Rs 15000 or more on transnsport? Or would a farmer from Kashmir or Himachal take his few quintal apples to Bengal to sell at a little higher price? Or a farmer in Bengal could take his 100 Q rice to Tamil Nadu?
Nothing could be more laughable! Farmers don't have any storage ability and transport facility.
These laws were only made to benefit Adani and other huge corporations. Adani had already constructed huge warehouses in Punjab and Haryana (and other surpplus states) to buy and store huge stocks of grains and other produce which they would sell in other deficit areas st a time with higher prices.
The ruling party was clever to make laws beneficial to its rich friends, but the farmers these days are also very knowledgeable. They saw through the game (the collusion between the govt and its rich friends) and forced it to withdraw those BLACK ANTI-FARMER LAWS.
Hopefully, now you understand the issue a little more.

Yup but all crops are purchased and stored by GOI not by any state govt and Punjab state govt still have to get pending 7-8000 crore from central govt. Present Central govt can provide loan to state that not ruled by them but reluctant to pay dues.
