Incredible information Miles, and one thing other than using both props is changing them takes effort on top of all the other things you “Rockstars” have to deal with ✊😎 I love the concept of the stability of 4 blade,it’s got to help your back too 😮😊🍀🎣
The Fury 4 is one of the best, if not THE best prop i've ever run. I load heavy, and it lifted the bow beautifully. But unfortunately they're notorious for slinging blades, especially if run high on the jack plate. I slung one, thinking I was an anomaly. I posted a pic in a message board asking if there was any hope of repair, or value in the carcass. I ended up hearing from a lot of folks that had the same problem with the same prop, and several chimed in saying it was a known deal. Now I"m running a Bravo. Hoping that one is less of an issue. But I do miss how great the Fury 4 ran. On my rig it had the ideal mix of hole shot, top end, and overall control / grip.
I just put a new prop on the old Bass Buggy. I went from a pusher prop to something with a bit more performance. I can't wait to test her out when the lake gets back up to full pool.
I run a yamaha 3 blade (25M) and have a Mercury High Five for my spare.
How many vent holes and what size vent plugs worked best for you on the Fury 4?
M'y prope spitfire x7 4blide 14×21p on 90hp Ct 😉 41mph
I also drag log rafts for my parents my aunty and i.
Will that fury 4 blade 23 pitch do good on my merc 150 or is it to much prop im currently running a 21pitch 3 blade and want a 4 blade due to heavy loads
Did mercury get the four blade fury problems fixed they stopped production for a while the blades were too thin and slinging blades off constantly I had two back too back covered under warranty. One went through lower unit so it got replaced under warranty. Finally switched too three blade no more issues . But I did like hole shot and lift of 4 blade .
Craig, I had heard some people say the same thing about throwing blades on the 4-Blade, but all I can speak to is my personal experience. Ive been running the same 24p FURY4 for about four years now and havent had an issue with it.
We have a 22p 3 blade fury on Ranger z518. And never had a boat porpoise like this one. Uncontrollable at times. It’s like I can’t ever get to nose up in wakes and it even blows out getting up on plane at times. Maybe we need a 4 blade???
My bet would be it could help quite a bit.
Love to hear about the vent set up on the 4 blade?
My motor is a Yamaha 250 SHO. Usually the advice is to run with all vents closed on this motor. I tried it out with all 8 vents open and had no blowout. This surprised me. With similar 4 blade props, specifically a Croxton Razor 4 (also 8 vents) for and Bravo (also 8 vents), I need to fully close 4 of the 8 vents, have 2 with large PVS plug, and 2 vents wide open.
Hi I have a question I have a 2008 nitro Z7 running mercury optimax 150 I’m having hard time getting up I’m plane when I have two person on the boat and full lie wall full tank. What Prop should I be using I have right-now 24 pitch three blade.
Hi there.
We had the same problem with the same set up like you. We got a VMX-4, 21P powertech prop and it solved our issues. Good handling and RPM on the motor was within the spec. Hole shot was good and kept the nose of the boat up.
Also helps in those higher altitude dams.
Do you run a 23p 4 blade or do you go up in pitch?
I actually have not used a 23 pitch 4 blade yet. I run a 23p 3 blade and that’s the size that works best for my boat with three blade props. I’ve been using the 24 pitch Fury 4 but would like to try the 23.
Do you use same pitch on both??
I usually run the 24p 4 blade and a 23p 3 blade.
