    Loved this lesson Cheryl. My first painting with black white and yellow and I added orange looked like a tangled woods at Halloween! 🤣🤣 It started out pretty abstract but I kept seeing things in there like a tree trunk and of course I had to start adding branches and then things looked like birds and then I had to paint a ladder on the tree so kids could climb up and there went my abstract but boy did I
    have fun and ended up with a goofy looking painting. What a blast. Tomorrow I’m going to paint over it and maybe be able to keep it abstract and not paint in real things like trees and ladders.🤣🤣🤣I started two others at the same time with just black marks. I’ll try tackling them another day. Maybe I can keep the abstract true in them.

      Your message made me smile!!! Some of my favorite abstracts are the ones I painted over with layers. Part of our journey is having fun, so you’re doing it right!!!!

    Thank you for no music. This session has been particularly useful for me, because it gives me the freedom and the power to push through that ugly stage, which I come to every single painting.

    Second comment here. I laughed when you talked about “the ugly stage” I’ve been stuck there for a very long time n(I’m almost 80 years now, and still consider myself a student. Even though I’ve been painting for 50 years. You are so encouraging and I like your gentile voice. 🥰

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  Год назад +2

      I love your comment when you said you’re still a student because I think when we keep ourselves open to continually learning there’s an excitement there we also go through a learning curve so there’s many times that I go back to being at the beginning of a learning cycle in my painting and then there’s times that I cycle to where I think I finally got it so I’m glad that my videos could be of help to you. Your comment means a lot to me.

    Love your work, Cheryl. I have so many questions...what kind of paper...the materials...pens, mark-making, you know, all that stuff!

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  7 месяцев назад +1

      Good question! If you look at my Amazon store, you’ll see links to a lot of the papers I use that mark making tools I use I grab a lot of things that are out there, but I mainly use charcoal and graphite. Those are my favorites, pencils, paper I use canon and Strathmore, but in my link under paper, it shows a lot of different ones I will use, I don’t mind trying new things I will use oil sticks in the end I don’t really have a set of 10 things I use. I probably use quite a few mark making tools so I’d be hard to list them all but check my Amazon store because I do list a lot of what I use there to make it easy for myself to go back and find it again when I want it Took me a while to respond. I got that nasty virus and it’s taken me seven days in bed to even somewhat recover which I never stay in bed. I’m not even after surgeries I’m up and moving around but this really put me down for a while.

      I do not know why I thought of this, but one time this artist had an ad locally to help him. He was local and I was just starting out so thought I could learn from him. When I called him, he said he needed an artist to do his painting for him as he had several art galleries he provided paintings for and needed to put out a lot of paintings!!! I thought.... uhhhh, someone else paints your paintings for you? I need to go look up his name to see how is is doing. I would love help in filming, but NEVER paintings my art for me, hahaha

    I think I may have been undervaluing something as simple and basic as mark-making in considering the larger elements of a painting, so thank you for focusing on that. Also, I wanted to comment that I'm no photographer or camera expert, but I have no problem viewing your presentations with the current equipment you're using.

      thank you for your comment! lines and marks can finish a painting for me! Especially when they are unique to you. Like your favorite shape or certain lines together. Thank you for the comment about the camera. I do not make very much on You Tube right now and want to someday invest in a better vlog type camera, but that time will come. I feel I am getting some solid concepts with what I have for now, so thank you so much.
