  • In this video I use three (3) Mixed Media Artboards. I use acrylic high flow (Titanium White, Carbon Black), Black Alcohol Ink, Alcohol Ink Metallic Mixatives, Acrylic Metallics, Charcoal (Black and White) to create three abstract expressionistic paintings.

    Let me complement you how lovely your hair looks, the video was fantastic to watch, I haven't bought any alcohol inks yet as they are so expensive, I've got acrylic inks and they are lovely to work with, it's great that you are explaining how composition works in abstract paintings too, thank you for sharing ❤😊

      thank you so much. I recently got my hair cut a bit shorter than I thought but it is FINALLY growing to a point I can do something!!! haha. I like alcohol inks, but I truly love the acrylics..... what you might do if you want to try then in a piece is got ONE color like a neutral. I might work more on a underpainting and use more in a piece to try that. GET READY for next week, i honestly hope my video on composition for abstracts mainly will be helpful, i know you mentioned you really wanted composition.

      God this has been so helpful. I've just done my first large canvas and really struggled, it took 3 days trying to do it but I learnt a lot. It came out...kind of ok at the end But Now sitting down to watch more of your videos,and it's all making more sense and I can't wait to start the next one and bring in what I've learnt in practice and thru your tutorials, and I hope I can move forward a bit in painting no.2! Hurrah! It's so hard not to be too hard on yourself as U want to to see a good painting at the end!! Its upsetting to try so hard and be disappointed 😢 I think im gonna join some classes from U. Thank U Cheryl, your tutorials are so incredibly helpful. I feel more inspired again to try the next one. Thank U!! All the best! Ps LOVED your 3 black and whites. Think I'm going to try monochrome to improve my values next time. ❤

    Wonderful paintings Cheryl❤ Thank you for sharing, as always!
    I love the effects that I get with alcohol inks, but I started shying away from them due to the light fast issues. I don’t know if the Piñata inks are less fugitive than the ranger inks. I’ve started looking to get similar effects with India inks, but not really the same.
    What are your thoughts on finishing and selling works that may have non-archival materials?
    Hope you dad is feeling better! 😃

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  Год назад +1

      I do not use alcohol inks as a primarily medium so as they are embedded within my acrylic, I use the same process I use with my acrylic paintings and never have an issue. I use sprays from Golden or another good company that deals with artists. I like the idea of Indian inks, i love using them. My dad is doing so well, thank you for asking, he always appreciates people caring. I hope I have answered your question!!

    These paintings are scrumptious!! Are any of them for sale?
    I learned so much watching your process. I love the sound of the scratching into the canvas, and then the resulting visual just takes it all to another level. Thank you Cheryl!

      I honestly feel that it is from knowing that taking risks in my artwork will not ruin my painting.... it may alter and it may change it, but in the end I learn so much. Thank you for your comment, you are always so inciteful!!!

    Hi Cheryl. Appreciate your generosity. Do you spray the painting with fixative once it’s dry?
    Greetings from Bangladesh ❤

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  Год назад +1

      Yes, I do spray once I am ready to sell them or put them in plastic to store. I do that prior to my varnish as the varnish COULD cause a spot to smear!!! Thank you for watching and commenting!!!

      I have heard that. What I do i put extra varnish on the piece.... you might do an isolation coat too.
