I'm convinced this movie was originally a 3 1/2 or 4 hour movie like the Lord of the Rings movies were but they were cut down to fit into that 2 hour mark. That's why there's so much random development, some characters randomly pop off and others feel like they needed 6 more scenes or that there's random scenes that don't make sense if you try to map out the character's journey. Also a lot of random jargon that unless you're a mega nerd or have the wikia open on a 2nd monitor you'll probably miss 90% of what's going on. As an example I don't think the movie even says the word Draenei or acknowledges their existence besides the blurry foreground blue skin and horns in the cages even though they're being sacrificed to open the Dark Portal. If you weren't specifically a wow player or knew about the old outland lore all of that would fly right over your head. It's also weird to have probably the most evil thing the Orcs have ever done be the opening scene of your movie if you're trying to make a 50/50 movie if you just don't acknowledge it.
How to make a good warcraft movie: 1. Take one of the interesting fleshed out stories, for example, the fall of Arthas into madness. 2. do NOT deviate from the original script or characters. 3. I repeat: DO NOT deviate from the original script or characters. 4. Profit. sadly enough, hollywood can't do anything but break rule 2 and 3, all the time, every time, and thus, time after time failing to make a proper "video game" movie.
Yeah I feel like it would be such a slam dunk to just copy the big story beats of WC3 verbatim and put it into a movie with this level of production quality. Too bad it will never happen 😭
I know guldan just appeared traditional to gain favor for the horde, its just fun to pretend
Sorry for reupload
I thought about rewatching this a few weeks ago, because I couldn't remember much about... Thanks for saving me the trouble, nice vid
