Player-side wounds would not be realistic but would be interesting so everyone can cooperate and benefit on their "turn"
These are good points but you can argue the wound system facilitates coop play for the same reasons you say it doesn’t. My guess is rule of thumb will evolve amongst the community to prioritize weapons to pop wounds. Much like heads are for hammers, or great swords are for wake ups. Some weapons are popping weapons. This community understanding and rule of thumb enforces weapon roles in combat this facilitating coop play.

While admittedly not interacting with the weapon on a level of core mechanic, as a Greatsword main, granted there are(as before) many other ways to get to TCS, so it's not in the same boat as Savage Axe, wounding the monster allows for a TCS followup. Basically, wounding the monster drastically increases how many TCSes you can get off during a hunt, so missing out on an entire TCS when a wound is broken is, at least to me, quite significant.
I'm so tired of this "but you're free to X" wannabe-argument. I'm also "free" to not upgrade my stuff, to not use armor, not press any buttons even but that's youtube challenge video, not the intended way to play the game. The seikret is a poor substitute for a proper tracking system which we never have had. They could have improved on this aspect, which is crucial to hunting. The game is not "monster fighter" or "monster rush", it's monster hunter. In a monster hunting game, I expect to do some monster hunting, not be driven by a bird-lizard to 15 consecutive bosses. You also seem to be content with the system, as the downtime allows you to tab out and do other things. When I play games, I expect them to have minimal downtime, if at all, and certainely not *intended* downtime. The idea that devs would implement 30 seconds of nothing where you just wait is ridiculous to me. Overall, I dont get why you would defend this boring, auto-drive system instead of giving proper feedback and asking for a proper system to track and pursue monsters. You're sold a car with 2 wheels and half the engine and you say "Welp, I still have the steering wheel !". Suit yourself.
Agree to disagree. Video games having optional means of playing them is a good thing because everyone is different. With how video games have advanced, its just better to have options. I'm pretty tired of the its literally called 'monster HUNTER' argument. Its in every reply I've seen against this thing and its so tiring. Monster Hunter originally had zero tracking or anything. They spawned in the same area every single time, There was no 'hunting' as you define it there. Or any of the other games. But there is actually hunting, like fighting a monster, it flees, you pursue and kill it. If you want to use the oxford dictionary for it, its word for word what hunting is. Im fine with the auto-drive system because it doesn't change my experience. If it changes yours then turn it off, its as simple as that and needs no further discussions
I read this from the back of my Raider Ride and chuckled. Most of the complainers are Redditors, and that sub is so full of gatekeeping wannabe veterans. They're all vying so hard to be special, I bet they complained about Wedge Beetles as well.

I recently started playing World and it made me appreciate how compact rise was. The mounts in Wild are great, I don't care exploring a big mag on foot.
If he doesn't like the mount he could just walk everywhere to feel like the old times
THIS IS WHY THE HATE ON THE GAME? Not PISS POOR TEXTURES ( blurry, ugly ), Horrid Performance can't get stable 60 FPS on 1080 p with top AMD GPU 7900XTX! The game doesn't even LOOK better than World! Literally nobody FORCES you to USE Sekiret... You can CONTROL HIM the way YOU want.
Game looks leagues better than world. Performance concerns are very valid though.
Tracking the monster and hunting it to endangered species status just so you could see the remaining few on your map was actually a pretty fun. It gave everyone a reason to go back and max out the monster pages.

Monster Hunter?? Nahh, more like Monster Fighter now!!! It does feel weird that we have auto move but I think its a good step to incorporate a few new things here and there. We wont know what is good unless some one introduces something new. Good vid by the way. Just a few salty Players here and there not wanting to change up to the times.
here's the thing, I don't consider holding shift+W for half of my playtime as a meaningful experience and it certainly does not add increase my enjoyment of the game.

after you beat the story boss, the game should give auto tracking to fully researched monster. as for mount, its all about the map size and design. if you want a drivable mount, make maps like rise sunbreak, the citidel map is a bit to large for my taste. if you want autodrive mount, make as open and empty space of a map as you can and spread every interest point sparsely, and ledge and slopes. we like fighting monster and the camera with its jank a$s collision in uneven terrain. the issue is not the autodrive, it the bore and annoyance of traversal like world, you walk run at a rather slow pace, unlike in rise sunbreak. you can ride your dog and drift, or you spiderman swing to funny moonshaped bug to fling you across the map.
I've spent easily over 10k hours playing monster hunter since the og on ps2 anyhting that cuts down on the tedium is alright with me haha. Rise is one of my favorite monster hunters just because it had the palamute.
the auto tracking should be a feature that's unlock much much later in the game. perhaps after 100 hrs. yes the auto tracking is quite annoying especially if your ust a few hours in the game. we want to explore manually as much as possible. but after a few hundred hours or so when we've already fully explored the area multiple times, autotracking might be more appreciated.

Only problem I have with the game really is lack up hitstop, and how bad it looks and plays (even compared to the new phone game)

I guess either people who played iceborne didn't bother or just skipped it. But Raider ride. The auto tracking to a monster has ALWAYS been in the game since Iceborne. From worlds, foot print tracking, to raider rideing. I'm glad Wilds has kept it. From the sound of it, it's less tedious. Glad I can rest my hands for a few seconds after beating a monster for several minutes as I catch up to where ever it ran off to.
While the Steam OP is a dumbass, I think there is a worthy conversation to have. For mounts, it's not a huge problem that they exist, but it feels like it has unused potential. There could be a game mechanic where monsters have mobile phases and the hunters need to chase and harry them before somehow wounding or binding them in place to start the next phase of on foot fighting. Leaning farther into it and making mounted attacks a real thing could produce a fun experience. Similarly, giving us monsters that have a reason for a desperate chase, say a mechanic where they power up if you don't catch them quickly enough, could make chasing fun instead of occasionally frustrating tedium. Tracking is somewhat more difficult to make interesting. It's not particularly exciting irl and I think people like the idea of tracking a lot more than they'd like even a gamified version of the reality. Backtracking, checking plants for blood splatter, and widening circle searching is not a fun time. Best keep that as a handwave or at most a once a game per monster event, as it has been in the past. Exploring in Rise and World is mostly done through the side quests, endemic life, and scavenger hunt collectables. We have yet to see what Wilds is going to do for that but given how easy it is to implement I have no reason to suspect they aren't going to do it again. Saying "game doesn't have exploration" off a very limited demo is ridiculous. Especially given the OPs complete unwillingness to explore even a simple menu.
The secret of Seikret is they know the very map of wilds, probably can sniff from afar like the cutscene shown in beta.
personally i found the fact that the mount can just pick you up like some ninja mid-fight, dodging whatever attack, and then allowing you to sharpening / take potions while safely on mount to be op af
tbf you deal wet damage on mount so I guess its not entirely OP if they didnt balance it that way everyone would probably be riding all day
mounting mid fight is not that fast. I've seen streamers try that and they still die nonetheless so it is not OP like you think. looks like you haven't played rise. mh rise wirebug is the OP mechanic. you can literally wirebug away the moment you get hit hard.

@@josefernandez4423 i ignore the spinoff titles because they always do stuff like this, and the main point wasn't really dodging attacks, its the fact you can hop on mid battle and heal+sharp at full speed, something that used to force you to be stationary during the animation, posing a risk whats the point of even having a sharpness mechanic if sharpening no longer poses a risk?
@DDracee Sharpening was only risky if you refused to be cautious anyway outside of fights like World Alatreon, because you could always change zone to sharpen. Not to mention World meta builds largely based on not ever having to sharpen, so it being less risky has very minimal impact.

Meh I remember running around all those small instanced maps in MHGU and not finding the monster x,) Had to go back through them again...as the monster must have moved to one of the locations I just left xD Also nows n then forgot to repaint and sometimes lost the mob...especially with high trees as you couldnt look where its flying off to or when it flew further then initial spot. It was a lot of running again x)) So I am not in on that one...I like tracking in MHWorld for me it was fun :,) What I didnt enjoy was Rise "here I am" map.
i hope the tracking worlds a little like the research thing. only just when research is done its always visible. world is already close to that usually when you enter a zone some of the monsters already show up on the map.
Imo its not that big of a deal except for Bow and MAYBE Dual Blades since those weapons have the easiest time popping multiple wounds at once.. In my time with the beta there was just more wounds in multiplayer so there was enough for everyone to get some during the hunt. Also multiple players hitting the same wound at once probably wont be uncommon since a lot of monster attacks create small wound windows and hunters looking to take advantage of those will likely hit near the same time naturally.

They could make it so the wound sticks around until the 1st hitter's focus strike is over, or perhaps some similar set amount of time. Just make it so that anyone else that does a focus strike after the 1st one doesn't reset this timer or cause a topple. Essentially just make the simultaneous wound break window bigger.
If multiple hunters are attacking different points on a monster there will be multiple wounds. Once the monster is down pick a remaining wound
As a longsword user I’ll let others hit wounds cause Iongsword these days has NO problem getting meter
I am primarily a solo player, i play the game to have fun. In the rare instances i play multiplayer i will not be denying my fun because some princess "needs a wound more than me". This is simply a fault with weapon design and i wont be catering too it.
Idk, i feel like this is just a thing we get used to. Yes, establishng a priority etiquette would be nice, but it still doesn't stop LS users from flinching you or Hammer and HH users sending you flying to kingdom come when everyone piles onto the monster's head. This really isn’t any different to the make sure you have flinch free on your set discussions we had in World. I main the glaive, and I agree there are some issues with it, and it was annoying to try to get orange buff without wounds. Bow users also just popped them all. We do have multiple ways to get our buffs though, so it's just simply adapting your playstyle to the types of players you're dealing with. As was stated, the player base has a varying range, so if you're with a selfish-minded group/player, adjust accordingly.

hold up now you got me imagining a Jurassic World Evolution style monster hunter game where instead of collecting fossils, you send hunters to capture or kill monsters, capped monsters can be placed in enclosures, killed monsters are disassembled at the local Monster Disassembly Factory (trademark, copyright, all rights reserved circa 2055) and the parts are used for buildings, equipping your hunters, etc.
Like a myriad of other comments are saying, I too think that this will just become an etiquette thing that is established and taught to other players. The only problem with that is the lobbies, which I'm really not excited for. Nobody bothered to interact in the 16 player lobbies in World I don't know why they think increasing it to 100 is gonna help. It makes it harder to communicate with other hunters about strategy, tactics, etc. and if you decide you don't like someone or the way they play it really just promotes switching to another lobby over trying to work things out with them and come to a compromise.

That part when you said this is monster hunter and we're all here to just kill monsters and have fun? That's where the video should have ended. I don't think wounds would be a problem unless you really care about finishing the hunt two or three minutes early. The overall experience will be the same, play as you always have and have fun, who cares if you do 15% more damage or not
people will just hit it till it dies, ignoring kill/capture etiquette anyways, like back in world, so wounds are almost certainly just gonna become first come first serve
The main reason why this becomes problematic in MP for IG users and others is for IG's moves you need all 3 buffs. That's why wound for IG users are much more important than any other weapon users. They should have just given the basic combo moveset just from Red extract cause that would keep the combat flow going and not make it a headache. As you are fighting you can grab more extract, and once you have all you do the rising spiral slash. Another way is making the charged kinsect better. The tracking is abysmal in the beta.
I didn't really think this was an issue at all. Wounds were happening pretty much constantly.
