If they do that basic thing, then the government won't have to clean anything besides emptying garbage out of dustbins and dumpsters into garbage trucks.

I saw a dolphin at Varanassi, in that foul, stinky river. It was ghostly white with a coke-bottle nose. For years i have told people that Ganges dolphins where white but I just watched a documentary and they are grey. the one I saw must have been an albino. That is a very magical animal!
renovation of the building, stairs, stone is not allowed ? looks very squalor, dirty old boats.......in spite it is sacred, historical place it takes maintaining......for longer lasting... love this old civilisztion, respect....

There are now many Sewage treatment plants installed around the whole city. Varanasi water is now comparatively cleaner than its downstream. Still not directly drinkable, just like other mass rivers.
Now it has many sewage treatment plants, and the Ganga in Varanasi is 10 times cleaner than the Yamuna in Delhi, and yes these are different rivers you see in the news.
