I have that same modelusan and I keep my eggs in the fridge and when I do my hard boiled eggs I use the 555 method, it's 5 mins pressure cook then 5 mins NPR then and 5 mins in ice water and they are perfectly hard boiled and the shell comes off so easily,I haven't tried soft boiled as they are mostly for salads or egg mayo and not for breakfast dipping toast soldiers as we did when we were kids,I watched a lot of your video's when I first got my Instant pot and you were a big help for a beginner, thank you, another enjoyable video
Yay! Thank you Pamela and hello right on back to you, from over the atlantic. Me too - as you can tell! Hope you are well and enjoying warmer temperatures than we have here on this rainy uk day 😄
It seems that you scored ! Lots of perseverance ! A lady said that even the altitude where you live makes a difference in the eggs. Not sure. So eggs and popcorn are truly the ones with most tries. lol still when one experiment and figures out the settings, there is nothing more fun and perfect that the instant pot! Thumbs up ! Thank you
Thanks Cassia - you are so right. Altitude does make a difference, just like with canning, and I didn't think to mention that. Thanks so much for that tip - I'll pin a comment on it ! We are very much at sea level- sometimes a little too much at sea level ! I can hear it roaring in right now 🌊 😳
I just did 2 soft boiled in a 5.7 l instant pot pro and they came out perfectly like yours, i didnt have ice and virtually had them in egg cup straight away but they were great. Thanks!
Thanks for this I tried your 3 min time. it worked a treat. I did 6 eggs with this method. But then I tried it again 😢 without changing the water. Oh dear the eggs were goooooo! 😂 So you need to change the water every time. Great review BTW. 👍
3 3 2 for me. I will get the odd egg that will crack, but not a major issue given I'll cook up at least a dozen at a time, and have them sit in the fridge in their shells for when I need them. I'll even pickle a load if I fall upon a glut of cheaper eggs. :)
One question on your technique: Did you change the water to cold water each time or were you reheating the same water? That would make a difference... FYI I have had good luck with 2-12-3 for hard-boiled which looks like your v2 on composition
Hi there, yes I should have been more clear on that. I let the pot cool each time and used cold water from the tap. Thanks for sharing your alternate timing- many paths lead the same way so it's always good to share :)
@@CookingandCalm They did work! I made soft-boiled eggs a little earlier, and with eggs from the fridge the 3 low/quick release/1 ice water made them a little runnier than yours, but with the whites fully cooked. Eggsactly the way I like them! No longer a pressure cooker virgin now 🤓 Feel like I'm adulting over here 😊 Thank you again. I think Scotch eggs might be my next adventure since I can get the eggs exactly the way I like them, but after the pea and ham soup that's cooking now...
@@CookingandCalm yes they seem to have finished. I can not find a Instant Pot Duo Crisp 6 Qt Replacement Air Fryer Lid or Instant Pot Duo Crisp anywhere in the uk. has anyone try buying one from the USA and using it do you know.
No I wouldn't buy a lid or IP Crisp from the US- the voltage is different so wouldn't be safe over here. I've just found this on the Instant Pot UK website: "Hello - we hope to have the Duo Crisp back in stock end of February/ the start of March" That's a relief, it sounds like delays rather than discontinued. Phew!
@@CookingandCalm that great thanks. I could not find any information. please keep up the great work you are doing with your RUclips. warm regards Estelle
Hi Susan - great video! Thanks for all your experimentation. I’m about to try the hard boiled eggs. You mentioned you’re hoping at some point in the future to make a larger quantity of eggs for when guests can be invited over again. I can’t wait for that either! Anyway, do you know if/when cooking more than two eggs you need to increase the time? I plan on doing 10 eggs. And thanks to Cassia’s comment I guess I need to take my altitude into consideration too. We’re at 8500’. Thanks for sharing. I’ll let you know the outcome. ~ Karen in Colorado
Ah thank you Karen. 😊 Yes, with lockdown the most I've cooked is 4 soft boiled at once and it was exactly the same timing, so I don't think that makes a difference . I've seen people doing a double layer on their trivets with the same timing they'd used for small batch. Yes I do think Cassia is right but I don't fully understand how to adjust for altitude. Maybe test the timing using 1 at a time until you find which one is just right for you before doing that big batch? Oh soft boiled are eggs are so tricky. Hard boiled a little more forgiving. I definitely prefer the low pressure setting here at sea level anyway ! I really hope you get it working Karen and yes come back and check in if you get a chance as others might have the same question.Good luck
Thanks for the quick reply. Wasn’t sure I’d get to still try it today, but I did. I decided to just go with your 4, 4, 2 method since I was running short on time. These eggs are for a pudding recipe so I wasn’t too concerned of their outcome. They came out perfect! And they were so easy to peel. Best egg peeling experience I’ve had in a long time! LOL! It’s been so bad I’d always dread the thought of making deviled eggs or anything that required a lot of eggs. I’ll post a photo of the eggs on my Instagram so you can see. Probably won’t make the pudding until tomorrow.
