I bought the Limited edition 2023 and absolutely love it.. it's quick and responsive and turns heads. Wasn't crazy about the gloss black either and have been refinishing with the carbon fiber overlays. Those have made a big difference with the noticeable dust. Couldn't be happier with this vehicle. Thank you Hyundai
Congrats on the car! Glad you're loving it! Yeah, I've seen quite a few people swapping out the gloss black for the carbon fiber inserts in various cars. Definitely makes a huge difference. Enjoy!
I bought a Santa Cruz SEL about 3 months ago, and I couldn't be happier. I recently went on a 3 day trip to the Oregon coast and got 30mpg. I am super impressed with this "truck", for someone who doesn't need a work truck, it's a Great vehicle.
I have purchased many cars. I'm really into cars and spent a lot of time under the hood with my Dad. When the Santa Cruz arrived, I had to have it. I purchased the 2022 SE and I loved it, but I decided to upgrade to the 2024 SEL with Activity Package and I really love this car. I do gardening and we like to tail gate, so it is perfect for my wants and needs. If you are thinking about buying a Santa Cruz, don't hesitate . You will love it. I promise :-)
I am seriously interested in the Limited Santa Cruz. Based on what you’ve presented here, and other videos I’ve watched, this vehicle appears to check every box for what I’m looking for in a vehicle. The comfort of riding in an SUV, and the bed in the back which is sufficient for my needs. I plan to pay the Hyundai dealer a visit this week, and if the numbers look good with my trade-in, I hope to be driving a Santa Cruz in the near future. Thank you for your presentation! Much appreciated, and I did learn a few more things about the vehicle, I did not know prior! 👏⭐️👍
Awesome, I'm glad I was able to help! And to provide some new info! Yeah, it definitely does provide the comfort and driving experience of an SUV, but with some added utility. Let me know your thoughts once you check it out in person! Thanks again for the comment, and good luck with the search/purchase!
@@GearboxCarReviews After a 3 week wait, the Hyundai dealer here managed to obtain the exact Santa Cruz Limited I wanted. Your presentation that I watched and commented on 3 weeks ago, pretty much cemented my decision to go ahead and purchase this vehicle. Although I’ve only had it two days now, I’m loving every aspect of the vehicle. Comfort, power, the ability to change driving functions, dependent on road conditions, and the overall utility of the cargo bed. Unbeknown to me until the salesman sat down with me in the vehicle, I was totally shocked with all of the bells and whistles that are incorporated. I love the fact that I have the ability to choose which safety functions I want or don’t want activated. I know it will take me weeks to learn all of the programmable options, and eventually I’ll get them all mastered. Something for you to consider posting, might be a “How To” video on setting up preferences, as there are so many, and it can be confusing (especially for us older folks). Thank you for your time and efforts in presenting your videos, that I’m sure will be helpful for those looking to purchase a new vehicle!
@@randydergantz Congrats! I appreciate you coming back to comment and I'm glad I was able to help cement your decision, and that you're loving it so far! I always love hearing about people finding the perfect car for them! It's great to hear that the salesperson treated you well and showed you around the car, too. It can be hit or miss from dealership to dealership. I appreciate the recommendation and I've actually considered doing "how to" videos. My problem is just finding enough time in the day. I'm juggling a little more than I can handle at the moment, and just getting the review videos out has been a grind. Hopefully I can figure something out and start getting some of those videos out though. I'd love to provide some more help if I can. Thanks again for the comments and I hope you continue to love the Santa Cruz!
Ha, thanks man! Gotta get those dad jokes in whenever I can! Hey, what do you think of the new editing style? Too much? Not enough? Makes no difference?
@@GearboxCarReviews I’m liking the new style, it’s dynamic and fun. You’ve reached a good balance. You may not need THAT many outside shots, but that’s alright no harm. Also perhaps avoid jarring transitions such as at 9:40. Keep it up 👍
I wish the radio/ac controls were real buttons. I much rather turn a knob. I can turn a knob easier, faster, and safer than having to look off the road for a second to figure out if I’m pressing hot/cold.
My 2023 SEL in a great driver at everyday city driver and I bought a 200 hp 65 chevy el camino this car reminds me of my new 65, mine is in AWD, and it runs like the hammers of hell. Best buy since 1965.GO FOR IT.
I call it badass! And I’m picking up my Black limited Monday. It out runs my Dodge Nitro R/T and get 10 more MPG. Time to retire the Nitro @326,000 original miles. Can’t wait to see what I push this one too???
I purchased a MY23 SEL Premium Santa Cruz 2 months ago. I love it! I had pre ordered a Bronco Big Bend last August. Then a driver on a cell phone ran a red light and totaled my Veloster. I could no longer wait for the Bronco. The Ford dealer told me the delivery date would most likely be Dec 23 or Jan 24. So I canceled the order. I went to my Hyundai dealer. They had 2 MY22 and 2 MY23 SEL Premium's. 2 days later I drove off the lot with one of the MY23's. About a month later. I took the SC on a 2 week camping trip to Yellow River Forest. It is in the Driftless part of the state. This area is also called Little Switzerland because of the forested hills. It also has a high concentration of trout steams. Brook, Rainbow, and browns. Iowa's trout streams access is mostly gravel and dirt roads. Some have paved road access. So while I didn't do any rock crawling. I did take it down a lot of B roads (dirt not maintained) and trails. Absolutely no issue. I pulled our popup for camping. Had no issues on the steep grades. Power on hills is excellent. Over all I am so glade I did not get the Bronco. FYI, I also own a Jeep. The SC out performs it hands down. So much more comfortable too.
Sorry to hear about the Veloster! Hope you and everyone else made it out OK! Sounds like there was a solid silver lining. Glad to hear you're loving the SC and it's working out so well! Thanks for the comment and enjoy the truck!
We are planning on getting the 2023 Limited but are there side airbags coming out of the doors in the rear seat? Wondering how to manage car seat arrangements
There was a recall done for the 22s that supposedly fixed the issues. I would poke around on some of the Santa Cruz Facebook groups, but the groups I'm in seem to indicate that the DCT work great after the update (and therefore should be good on the 23s).
What do you think about the Santa Cruz? Would you pick it over the Maverick or the Ridgeline? What about a full-on truck like a Tacoma? Let me know if I missed anything or if you liked or hated anything in the video! Does it need more dad jokes?

We bought the same limited AWD Sage green…. We love the truck it’s perfect for our weekend activities.

really dig how the dash flows into the door panels
Same! I really like the way they did that strip that goes through the door and into the vents and down the side of the infotainment.

Lazy reviewers keep saying "based on the Tuscan". Not accurate. They desinged a new platform that would work for both.
I'll take the criticism for the inaccuracy, that's definitely on me, but lazy is a strong word. There's a lot that goes into making these videos.

100% with you on that. It's much safer and easier to use physical buttons and knobs than these flat haptic ones.

I can't find anything about airbags in the doors, but I see there are side curtain airbags in the back.
