Leon! Te volviste a Argentina?
Very handsome creation. Well done. Question: How did you determine the spacing for the table legs? The table looked to be approx 8' long (?); 40" wide (?); and 7/4 thick (?) and made from Bog Oak (which I assume is as sturdy as Oak in general). So, is there some measure you need to take into account when placing your legs? There wasn't a need for a third leg in the center? It looked fine but I was wondering the factors you took into account to do what you did. TY beforehand. Again, what a handsome creation. I see why you called it a Feasting Table - (2000-year-old slabs of wood...wow.) - a table fit for a Jarl and his men!
Thank you so much Paul, for your kind words. I love how this turned out too :D I wish I could tell you a nifty formula on where to place the legs. The dimensions you estimated are pretty correct. I just placed the legs at the end and then observed how stable it was. It was super stable. Remember I also used a couple of steel bars in between the slabs, but I absolutely wanted to not add a leg in the middle. The table is still sturdy and stable, more than a year later, so it seems to work. But as mentioned, it was completely gut feeling and learning by doing...
What a beautiful piece! I just wonder how much would it cost
Thank you so much for your kind words. The price really depends on the price you can source the slabs, how expensive your crafter is, and how expensive the table legs are. I sell a table like that around 4-5k USD, depending the size and the price for the raw slabs. Hope that helps.
Great job ❤ What is the weight of this Beauty?
Thanks 👊🏼 I don’t know the total weight, but it’s easily around 100kg
bad music awesome table
Thanks, and sorry about the music 🤣
@@Woodensoul only last one
Looks great except for the legs. It would be awesome if they were bog oak.
Haha, yeah. In general I don't do wooden legs. I think they are clunky, expensive, tons of work and not nice looking. I prefer metal legs. In this case, getting large enough bog oak lumber to make stable legs would have been super expensive...
using domino's on bog oak just feels wrong.
Agree! But I didn’t know how to solve it otherwise and it’s still holding 😝
@@Woodensoul check out the blackoakproject, they built an enormous 43ft table for the queen's jubilee using a "river joint", basically a tongue and groove joint that fits the irregular planks. Tricky to do but not that hard with a router and some planning. It's really stunning, now on display in Ely Cathedral. I think the main challenges with bog oak seem to be just properly stabilising the wood.
@@oitoitoi1 Haha... that looks awesome man. There is a lot of cool stuff you can do if you have an army of people, unlimited money and equipment and professional woodworkers. And then of course your table gets to be on display in a Cathedral. But I am only a modest hobbyist that learned everything from RUclips, so yeah, it is what it is
The music is awful, dude.
Hahaha... I actually agree with you. This is an older video, and at that time the only music I could use was the free music from RUclips. In the meantime I am paying money to use the music from Artlist, so it got a little better. Sorry for torturing your ears. Maybe one day I will replace the music, if I have enough time...
