Saved me a lot of money and hassle. While I was having my oil changed I was about my brake light. They wanted $230 for parts and labor. Googled your video and did it myself after ordering the part. Thank you.
Gotta love RUclips! This helped me out just now. Brake light was intermittently going out and picked up a genuine GM part on eBay for $35. Installed it in less than 10 minutes!
It helps with the install but bro even with 10 off you charging $140 for a light I found on eBay/amazon for under $30 and they come with led and different color lense and backing. You get choose how u want the look. Not knocking ur hustle tho shit was probably not available back then. Good looks on showing how to swap!
Thanks for the video but can you tell me what the actual piece that holds the light is called. The entire colored piece above the window. I need to get one as that whole assembly is missing off my truck.
You could have someone step on the brake and see if the third brake light has power going to it with a test light. If there isn't power going to the brake light, check the fuses and also the brake light switch on the top of the brake pedal to see if there's a broke or frayed wire. Reply back, let us know how you made out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I love the video but how to change the actual spoiler on top of the roof mines cracked bought it that way used vehicle but it should be bolted to the left n right of the screws you used screw driver to take out the light i' m guessing? and should remove as a whole piece? Haven't had time to get a real good look at it and how it was secured hopefully tomorrow I can get to it. Thought id find a video of how to and go at it and get it done quick any info would be appreciated Thanks 1a auto and anyone that has done this before in advance!!! Should be an easy fix.
Thanks for watching. The process will be similar. Here is a link to the part on our website for your Envoy 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 www.1aauto.com/1A/TailLights/GMC/Envoy/-/-/2002?VideoReply&VideoReply&ATony
@1A Auto: Repair Tips & Secrets Only Mechanics Know , But how do I get to the wires connected to the car side connector. I got power at the rear CHMSL fuse but nothing but a GROUND and green crusties on the connector pins, so I have to get to those wires. Any suggestions?
I have 2002 Trailblazer. The factory brake light has a neon tube what a joke! I will be buying one from you. First checked C.B under back seat it was good. If this new light does not solve the problem what would be next in the series of troubleshooting? BTW A car mechanic tried to charge me $249.00 for this light. LOL
+mear1e You would need to change the light. Here is a link to them on our website. www.1aauto.com/1A/TailLights/Chevy/Trailblazer/1ALTL01022?RUclips&CTA+Comment&TOeq0QlWs
The previous owner of my 1992 Toyota Windom (Lexus ES300) removed the spoiler containing the 3rd brake light and the wiring to go with it. I now need to get a Warrant of Fitness for my car and have to deal with the missing break light first. This is actually quite a common problem and I've been unable to find much help on the internet, finding only how to replace or repair the light, but not what to do when you've got to wire it up from scratch. I can't find any sign of the wiring for the removed spoiler brake light. A video showing exactly how to wire up a 3rd brake light, by splicing into the wires in the boot would be really helpful! Showing how to do it both by crimping and soldering (not everyone has soldering iron) would be good. How to tell what wires are what (+ & - or ground). The light I have to install has 2 wires. I can't afford an auto electrician,or to buy lots more tools.
What you may want to do is, you could go to a salvage yard and see if there's another car in there with the spoiler and wiring harness that you might be able to take it from. If you do that you should be able to plug everything back in on your car. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts Thanks for your advice, I found the old spoiler brake light wiring and was able to connect the light up to that using a plug / connector I'd grabbed last time I was at pick-a-part. I had to cut away some of the plastic to get it to fit, but it's all sorted and working as it should..
I'm in love with the video but how can I change my third brake light when other car dealers ships where cost more money to do be repaired and remember it on my own?
We currently do not have an auto repair video on this particular repair. We do carry new tailgate handles for your Trailblazer on our website with free shipping.

The brake light switch should be on the brake pedal arm under the dash.
I lost the hole plastic piece that the light mounts in. Do you know where I could order one of those.
Thank you king
Thank you, went exactly as you said it would!
