While I have no comments on the passing of Queen Elizabeth, it is greatly concerning how the majority of comments here clearly have no knowledge on the history of British Colonialism.
So let me attempt to explain British Colonialism in India, as it is a subject that touches me personally.
Yes, the British created a Rail Road System - That was used to take resources and goods out of India, almost exclusively only benefitting the British, who would take resources from India, process them in the UK, and force Indians to repurchase their own goods with an astronomical markup, essentially stealing and reselling Indian goods. Research has proven that the British extracted 45 trillion dollars from India in the 200 years they colonized the sub-continent, money which had been essential in India's development
Yes, the British built an education system - But this education system did not apply to the majority of the population, instead only served the colony's elite. After 200 years of colonization, literally in India stood at 15 percent. 200 years and not even a fraction of the population had been given an education... Post-Independent India's literacy rate is at 85%, and that jump took less than 75 years.
Tucker also argues that India never built architecture comparable to British architecture. Now I don't even need to argue how illogical this argument is, Indian architecture is remarkably unique and far more intricate than any architecture created by the British in India. Take the Taj Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Konark Sun Temple, Hampi, Madurai Temple, Tanjore Temple, or any other building. Modern examples include the Lotus Temple, The Park Hotel, Hyderabad, World One, and more.
Another of Tucker's claims is that India became civilized after the British colonized the land is hilarious. Indian civilizations have reigned since the dawn of time, and until British colonization, have been on par with any British civilization to ever exist. The Maurya Empire, Gupta Empire, Chola Empire, Vijayanagara Empire, Maratha Empire, and others are just examples of how advanced Indian civilizations have been.
Yes, the British didn't commit a direct genocide in India. But they still caused millions of deaths, particularly by famine. One notable example was during World War II, when there had been more than plentiful crop yields in Bengal. Yet, Three million people would die due to hunger, as the majority of the food was sent to Britain to balance out Britain's food shortage and increase its food stockpiles during the war. In the 200 years of British India, at least 30 million people died from famines caused by British selfishness, and that's an understatement.
Sidenote, The Magna Carta did not make up for the injustices and atrocities Indians faced during colonial rule.
Thank you for reading this piece, and I hope you have learned something by reading this.

"When the British left India, they left behind a civilization". Shhh...don't tell him about India and China being the cradle of civilization when Britain was in rawhide and being among the 4 longest continuing civilizations in the world.
Has the nation produced a single building better than this? First of all, that's too specific. I mean the past 75 years were spent trying to claw our way out of poverty that colonialism inflicted on us. How about you go back a bit further and talk about idk, our beautiful ancient bronze-age and medieval temples, stupas and idk, the TAJ MAHAL? Also, the British left India a mess, leaving it upto the states and the rulers to decide wether to join India, Pakistan or stay independent. India integrated her territory herself.
That's our excuse, what architectural marvel has the US produced over the past 75 years? Im of course, I call me a prude but I don't think a shopping center with a Denny's in it is exactly an architectural marvel.
Secondly, check out the new parliament building. We've got enough cash to now start thinking about healing our civilization, keeping the good ideas and discarding the ones we don't care about.
I'm not saying that the British didn't contribute anything. Let's represent their contributions objectively, however. Let's not embarass ourselves doing a broad full-throated defense of the empire. Don't forget that America was also a British colony. That being said, the queen could have done more to apologize for the excesses of the empire. Britain is yet to come to terms with what it did to its colonies, and the queen refused to apologize for the empire in 1997, despite coming close to it. She refused to even apologize for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. That's the low-hanging fruit. What antagonizes Indians even further is the Britons' celebration of the Raj on one hand and the expectation that India will support Europe in its proxy war against Russia a massive cost to its low-income population on the other. Imperialism is either good or it is bad.
If might makes right and the Raj was justified as a civilizing mission, then so is the Russian war on Ukraine. Putin has used the same argument of eliminating Nazism from Ukraine, which takes from the same civilizing mission playbook. Everytime you do a full-throated endorsement of the Raj, you make the world a colder, less safe place.
If Britain expects India's help following Brexit and wants to chart an independent course like us, which is admirable, we must be treated fairly, if we are to be closer to each other. Not glorifying the time you took advantage of a once-great civilization in decline to pull off one of the biggest industrial-scale heists in human history that reduced us to a loincloth existence is something that I believe we can fairly expect.
Friendships happen among equals. If you keep advertising the fact that you stole your friend's house, kicked his family out and then forcibly divided it among his children, that's not going to lead us anywhere.

As a Brit, this is the first time I've been on the end of Tucker Carlson's words. I see now why so many have difficulty listening to him. His words are harsh, but every single one of them are true. He is as honest as the day is long, and there are just too many people in the world who cannot handle that. I am not one of them, and I thank Tucker for not doing what everyone else does. He didn't virtue signal, or just spend a few minutes fawning over our departed Queen. He told it as it really is, and for that he has my respect, and the respect of anyone else who deals only in the truth.
