I watched three other 10 minute videos and none of them explained it even remotely as good as you did. Thank you man, you are by far the best teacher and tutorial RUclipsr for Davinci Resolve.
Thank you! Great that you actually teach from basics, clear out basic doubts rather than explaining advance stuff (which most beginners would not want as they would get confused) from the start.
I really don't know how on earth you manage to explain things the way you do and make them look so easy!!! It's a gift my friend and you certainly have it. 😃👍
Many people are very good at what they do, but not everyone can teach . You sir did a great job of explaining to a novice @FCPX the basics of keyframing!! It is much appreciated and I look forward to seeing more of your videos! I am new to film editing and have the need to really understand how things work to be able to understand them, not just be told do this and that and it will work. So stepping out of the box and breaking every step down and explaining exactly what is going to happen is perfect!!! Thanks again
You’re welcome! 😁👍 I do my best to break it down and keep it simple. I’m happy to hear that the video was helpful for you. I hope you find lots of other good info in my other videos. There’s a lot to Resolve but keep at it and little by little you will get it. 👍😁 Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for this video, this is what many people need. Basics this is what many need. I could not find such a good explanation for a long time. It took me hours to find out how to do it from different tutorials.
You’re welcome! Doing my best to create videos with simple instructions on how to do things. I’m happy to hear my videos help. 👍😁 sometimes it’s good to break it down to basics. Thank you for watching!
this video was put together with so much care man, from the editing to the clearness of your voice and transitions very big wow. thanks for making this :)
Thank you for making 1 very detailed and easy-to-understand video tutorial clip. I've seen a few other keyframe clips, but it's only in your clips that I get it. Good job! Move on!
Thank you for great content helps a lot. One of the best keyframe tutorial i ever watch. Easy to understand. You have a great teaching skills not many tutor have. Every word you spoke make sense and esay to apply.
I am new to video editing and especially in Davinci Resolve. This video is very informative and useful. It is definitely going to set me on the right path for my video editing. Thank you so much Jason.
Thank you for this video! It's so informative. I went from knowing nothing about key frames to directly using them in a project which I am working on. Keyframes makes everything so easy!
Thanks for the upload! You explained this way better than the other videos I was watching. I was looking for more help on my Editing adventure I have started!
Great Video Jason. I am new to DaVinci Resolve and I need all the help available. But need to make sure it is easy to follow, your video is very easy to follow and understand. Keep up the good work.
This was incredible and covered all the basics. I appreciate your generosity and sharing your knowledge and experience. You are the change people would like to see in the world.
Thank you soooooo much for making this video... its been so helpful to me, being a beginner it was sooo complex and kinda scary seeing DaVinci especially if you have just transitioned from a program such as iMovies. Great video. I just subscribed!
Thank you so much!!! I'm off learning editing the hard way and finally got to keyframes and this was 80 degrees of amazing!!! I feel very capable now to make it a lot further until I hit another development pot-hole, but I'll be sure to come right back here
I commented below after watching this tutorial for the first time, but I have to comment again, since now I have experimented with keyframes and it's like a whole new world has opened up!!! Would you please consider uploading a tutorial on Nodes? Thank you.
Much appreciated video! Very simple and a video that is actually for beginners. I'm just starting out with video editing more intensive things and I think this is going to come in very handy. I was doing a lot of stuff in very sketchy methods, but this will clean all that up. Of course it gives me more ideas for the future :)
Jason, once again you have saved the day for me. I had no idea I could do this much with key frames in the edit page; I thought I had to use Fusion (which is very confusing). I've done a lot of this type of motion in Premier Pro, but didn't know I could do it in Resolve as well. Thank you so much for another very helpful video.
Amazing video, thank you Jason! I have seen the word "keyframe" for years just using Avidemux to transcribe video formats, but never understood what they were. Now they make total sense and I realise that I'm familiar with the concept from DAW apps & Blender too. Now I feel very comfortable to use them and I'm excited by the possibilities!
If you could show some more uses of KeyFrames; ie. Color Grading etc that would be very helpful as well. And/Or using KeyFrames as a template so you can have a central point to make changes and have the change ripple to wherever it is used. Thanks again Jason
@@JasonYadlovski I have a big problem. Since I don't have any indoor lighting available...I just shoot in the garage of my house early in the morning, but the problem is that the quickly rising sun behind me changes the exposure quickly and the towards the end of the video...I have a fully blown out exposure. I was thinking...can keyframes be used to slowly adjust the exposure as the exposure increases in the video? Say ... From one exposure value in the beginning and to another exposure value in the end? Do you think it's possible? If yes...how can I do that? As you can see in this video. I tried to adjust the exposure, but still...by the end...its a mess. ruclips.net/video/QXafM2sFkxs/видео.html Thank you very much for your time.
Hey! Just saw this comment - sorry for the late reply. Yes you can keyframe in an exposure change. You would do that in the color tab. You would make the exposure change using a node and you'd have to add dynamic keyframes to the node so it will change over time. I would say maybe the easiest option would be to just shift your position outside a little. Maybe move closer to the house or it looks like there is some kind of porch next to you maybe? I'd go under there. Or you can wait until the light is more consistent. Just my 2 cents. 😁
I DO hate you! I can't stop reviewing the video!!! You're so damn crystal clear and objective...thanks a million, once again! Suggestion: you'd better teach something other than YT videos only!!! lol
thank you so much for the lesson, sir. Appreciate it so much. I just move from Premiere into Resolve, so i need to understand keyframing in Resolve. Thanks once again! :D
Great Video - one other Key item is that you have to make sure you are 'zoomed' out far enough to see the Transform section - (*i wasnt even seeing the word 'Transform' until I zoomed using the Custom or Detail zoom feature ! Been looking for this for a while now
Hi. Great Tutorials. Love this one as I was looking for a video on keyframes. Maybe I missed it, but if I for e.g. zoom in and after the zoom want to go to my normal picture, how do I do it? Thanks keep up the excellent work.
Hi, thanks for checking out the video! So if the video is zoomed in (for example zoom set to 2 in the transform section), just add a keyframe where you want to start to go back to the normal size by clicking the diamond next to the zoom. This tells the clip to say zoomed at 2 until here. Then, move ahead one frame, then just adjust the zoom back to 1. Hope this helps! If you need more info, let me know. 😁
Hi! To ease in/ease out of a keyframe, you have to open the 'retime contols' by right clicking on a clip. Then you should see a little graph below the clip. If you select the keyframe, then change the top to the arc symbol you'll see at the top of that window, you should be able to change how the clip eases in or out. Check out 9:22 in the video, that's how you'd do it. Hope this helps!
An excellent tutorial, thanks! Most of my videos for editing are just one continuous film. This is new to me and I now understand how to add a keyframe to insert say a zoom etc, but how do I revert back to the video as filmed? For example, how do I enter a keyframe end point?
You're welcome! Thanks for watching! To end a set of keyframes, just adjust the settings to be back to their default, then don't make any more changes after that. There's no need to 'turn them off' or anything like that. Just don't make any more changes. 😜
is there a shortcut key to add key frames? and another question, is there a way to use the mouse to drag the videos such as zooming, moving it in x and y direction?
I don't think there is a keyboard shortcut to add a keyframe. You can resize the video using the mouse if you click on the little icon at the bottom left of the viewer in the Edit tab. It looks like a square by default I believe. Click it on, then you'll see handles so you can resize and move the clip.

Can you do one for vertical video framing when using wide footage
Thanks for posting this. I've been searching for where the keyframes are, but couldn't locate anything in the user manual.
You’re welcome!

Hey man great video! do u know what keyboard shorcut you can use if you want to keep the keyframe handle vertical?? I don't know how to google this
Let me explain myself better. How can you ease in to a value and then change the speed of that without losing the ease. Makes sense?
thanks!
