This is a special bonus video and it's a biggie - three hours of "real time" cruising from my trip last year, here on the River Avon going up from where it joins the Severn at Tewkesbury, to my overnight mooring at Comberton Quay.
Any wobbles in the steering are probably me filming something at the back and thereby being distracted.

Great stuff. Three of these (so far). That's me set up for for a few hours. And thanks, David, for the sounds of the boat and the waterway rather than the nearly always irritating, often downright abominable 'music' that so many RUclipsrs seem to feel 'enhances' their videos. If only more people had your class.

As much as i love seeing your face and hearing your voice say smart, funny, and introspective things, i do really love these longer, real time, excursions! Not more than the normal/great videos, but differently. like you like a cat differently than a dog, or pizza differently than say, a sandwich! Thank you for these wonderful videos!

Zen and the art of cruising the cut. Thank you for this mostly tranquil piece of countryside history. It reminded me of my childhood years of the 50’s and 60’s when me and a mate waited all day to record a passing car number. Diolch eto, Tony

I thought what a miserable day doctors office at !0 and all that's on their television are those calming nature videos. But to my amazement the receptionist is a cruising the cut fan and this was on. When I commented on the waiting room programming she told me it was a new posting , every one seemed to like it no complaints at all. cool

Ever since experiencing my first SlowTV (the Norway Bergen Train trip that started the whole SlowTV genre), I've often thought that drinking establishments with multiple TVs (sports bars) should have at least one TV tuned to a SlowTV channel! In fact, it was searching out SlowTV on RUclips that brought me to Cruising the Cut!

Your NotAVolgs are far better than a boring audiobook and/or ambient music to help me study. I have even consumed my dinner listening to your engine. Too bad Burma-Shave has no signs along the canal to add humor. I wonder if they ever did, say, in the 50's and 60's? Thanks for all the videos. RThey add some real class to RUclips.

    • @CruisingTheCut

I have no idea who "Burma Shave" might be; does not sound like something we'd have here. Also, in the 50s & 60s the canals were still largely derelict and being restored rather than the state you find them in today.

My parties are not boisterous but have a lot of good conversation.
    Ps

And the scale is different too. The river Avon is basically world renowned. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of UK geography knows about it. But has anyone ever heard of the Rock river? ...no? Its just some almost nameless tributary of the mississippi you have to live within 30 miles of to have ever heard of it. Anyway, the section i live near is at the very least three times as wide and many many many times faster moving then any part of the Avon shown in this video...

This was so nice and beautiful. I had a thought. Maybe you could put this to some nice relaxation music. Make a series of them for RUclips. Thanks from Boston.

I would never add a music soundtrack to this type of video. Music is too subjective; what 1 person likes, 99 others will hate. Much better, if you wish to have music, is simply to play your own choice while you watch.

Are you able to travel faster on a river than a canal? Great coverage of the travel. Thanks for taking me along. I really enjoyed the cruise.

Yes, the rivers I've been on have a 6mph upstream / 8 mph downstream limit.
