Theme music: "Vespers" by Topher Mohr and Alex Alena, from the RUclips music library
David: I so enjoyed sitting in your bow deck with my knitting and a cup of tea by my side. Thank you for the ride. Just the sounds of the canal and the quiet chug of the engine. I may have even dozed off (judging by the length of my knitting) Loved it!
Total bliss .... no commentary, no dogs, just beautiful English Countryside ..... yes,. total bliss.
Don't want music on these non vlogs, just the gentle drone of the engine and the environs sounds is more than enough to create a state of zen. Great work
What you are offering with real time is sacred, a kind of worship, or meditation. Peace is here, on the English canal, on you tube of all places.... Please keep doing this.
Thank you so much for the splendid video. It is such a peaceful journey. Please make more like it if you can.
I love the clarity of your movies.
It's modern artwork. This is better than Monet.
Or a clear Claret.
What a wonderful way to spend a cold and dreary afternoon-watching this calm and sunny day on the canals. I agree with heaven on earth. Thank you David.
THANK YOU for sharing these "not a vlog" videos! For those who live on the wrong side of the pond to enjoy canal cruising first-hand, these are a fantastic glimpse as to what it's like. I throw these up on my big screen TV and the views are downright impressive. Thanks again!
This video shows how truly relaxing and beautiful it is to cruise the cut! Loved it. :)
I love these videos. I get really bad anxiety attacks sometimes and there is just something about these videos that helps me calm down and relax.
What a fantastic piece! Thank you!
...and what a fantastic peace!
Keep up the good work :)
I'm watching this during the Covid-19 lockdown. Going for a walk around my neighbourhood with a mask on is not very relaxing Thank you for sharing some beautiful countryside scenes with me. You are very fortunate to be on your boat at this time. Stay safe everyone!
Almost meditative in viewing this! Thanks for posting, much appreciated.
Thanks for the not-a-vlog, they are the world's best screensaver. Cheers.
Please please please make more of these on beautiful sunny days , I must have watched them all a hundred times, I sit and stare at them in my workshop when it run into difficulty on a boat build, and all the stress goes away and I'm able to think clearly and I'm soon back at it, I don't think that would be possible without these kind of uninterrupted blissful videos ...it's my happy place. Many thanks
It's easy to see why so many people are in love with narrow boats...Beautiful scenery.
To be relax..and ..quiet..nothing better....I you are a stressed person
This is such a wonderful video!
I am always looking for videos exactly like this to fall asleep too. I work nights so a nice video with the natural sounds is perfect. Most just replay the same thing over and over, this is exactly what I want. Best is there are 2 I have seen so far so variety as well !
Ha! Special, secret unlisted 'Not a vlog'. Nice.
Always pays to read the description.
Loved the Classic engine one too, even though I'm not an 'engine-head'. Many thanks for your lovely work. 👍
Totally pays, and thank you for being one of the few who does so!
The mirror reflection on the water, the birdsong, clear beautiful sky - what more could you ask for? 😊 💕
Wow what a wonderful relaxing video, I do so love your cruising blog. These scenic videos are a true art form. Well done you and thanks for your hard work much appreciated.
Thank you
Absolutely wonderful David, it's to me what narrow-boating is about. Reminds me of my childhood creek and my trusty raft...with it's not so trusty pole. Very Tom Sawyer. I took a mental holiday and found it refreshing...thanks again.
So peaceful! Thank you! Finally got to watch it and... ehem... stay awake.
Love it! I think I may have found the perfect white noise for bed time. My kids will love it, I my self am lulling to sleep as I watch 😴
I stumbled upon your videos about 2 weeks ago. I've been watching at least 3 VLOGs a day. And today I decided on this one. I must say, I throughly enjoyed it. Thank You for all your hard work, safe boating, and superb editing skills to put together everything so well. Thank you for such a beautiful video.
Thank you
Thanks I enjoy the calm, its similar to the videos of conductor view train rides in Norway.
That Bergen Norway train trip was the first Slow-TV i ever watched! After that, I somehow came across CtC when searching for other Slow-TV videos on RUclips.
This was so peaceful to watch, just gorgeous
Thanks for the ride.
I love the lovely bird and nature sounds to go with the lovely images. Perfectly relaxing! If I were there I would be fishing from that boat. :-)
I Just start....I heard the birds singing. ............sûre you have an excellent microphone...totally relax
Well that was an unexpected treat, fantastic thing to post, thanks alot for sharing that with us, will watch the other 2 now
I needed this ASMR today! Thank you David.
Slo TV....wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
WOW -- it doesn't much better then this, thanks for the peace.
Beautiful scenery. It looks so relaxing . In this video we get to see a different view of Narrowboats. The pace is much gentler than I imagined.
Before this I was wondering why we'd never seen any chase scenes in Hollywood movies featuring Narrowboats. Bourne 5 or Mission Impossible 15 set on the Trent and Mersey canal 😂
Beautiful videos. We love your channel. More not a vlogs please.
You have no idea how soothing this is.....or perhaps you do!.I'm hoping you have followed my tip from a while ago about the dab of Vick's up each nostril when you empty your cassette.
What wonderful weather you had x
Do they have Vick’s in the UK?
Yes we do.
Nice video, I found it strangely soothing. Thank you
Thanks for the video! Together with "Lazy chill afternoon" on Spotify I had a perfect Sunday afternoon! Please continue!
So am here again, another day, another bit of river With ridiculous temperatures outside just now I decided the river would be cooler than the canal or van 😊 so am drifting along on your boat again enjoying every minute Thank you 🍷Have one on me
Sounds great!
Nice day to be out for a cruise. Very relaxing.
Chris from Missouri
I play this while I practice folk songs on the button accordion. It just feels right somehow.
Thanks ! The canal tells you stories
The canal sings you songs
They hang in that space

beautiful trip, but I miss the commentary...Merry Christmas David...Looking forward to your new season... may you and yours be blessed in the New Year with Health Wealth and Prosperity ...hailing from Langley, BC
Loved watching this.. i was born and grew up in Bidford-on-Avon.And its lovely old bridge 12th century i believe .(the place where you encountered the canoeists).. i used to swim in the locks at Barton And Marlcliff as a teenager.. great to see the old place looking so lovely in the sunshine. Also remember when the river was opened up back in the day . All the dredging and lock building.. it was great to round on our bikes and watch it all coming together.. i think they used prisoners to do a lot of the Labouring back then..BRILLIANT.. Shame you can't get a swivel for your camera..Keep upthe great work David
perfect, thank you
O 1hour 45 minuets 👍😄 I’ll have to watch this later after my work 👍👍👍
David, this just popped up in my FB feed. Thank you so much for the beautiful trip down the river.
Or up the river?
These real time cruising videos are awesome...i do love the vlog's as well but these just provide the evidence as to why you set out on this adventure to begin with! So relaxing and picturesque. I'll not complain if more show up! That said, the gas/petrol powered plastic boat that went by sounded like it would be just the opposite to travel on? Again, thanks for sharing!
That was very good David , a nice calming long video . You should have given those kayaks a toot , they had no idea you were there . First video you never actually spoke . :-)
Thanks for sharing!
David, How do you do it? The gentle sway of the boat, the soft steady rumble of the engine, the soothing views of the country slipping by and birds singing. After just 10 minutes I'm almost out like a light at night. Must be your Iron like will power or lots and lots of tea, that keeps you awake. As always it is beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Steering the boat demands a surprising amount of concentration!
All of your vlogs are brilliant, this is just sublime. Thank you very much.
I subscribed to 'The Narrowboat Experience' last week (I love watching their video's) and now find this video in my list. Lovely footage, the sound of the boat and the birds and the beautiful views of the banks of the river. What a pleasant surprise to watch this wonderful video. Subscribed to your channel as well. Thank you ♥
Welcome along. You have some catching up to do! ;-)
@@CruisingTheCut Haha yes I noticed you have loads of video's. Looking forward to watching them!
Very calming. In fact, a little too much. I almost drifted off due to the serenity. I didn't, but came close.
You wouldn't be the first ;-)
Heaven on earth.
I just LOVE the longer videos you are posting. It really gives me a sense of what the canal is really like. It is so beautiful!
Hang on - just for clarity, this video is of the River Avon, not a canal. The canals are much narrower!
Oops I I meant to say river! 😉
awesome video and 2 in one week! David keep it up!
Haha, these have been hanging around since last year so just a bit of a random bonus!
Great video.
Hi David the Avon looks like a fantastic river to cruise so I will definitely give it a go this year, a couple of questions, I noticed that the Avon is not covered on the CRT licence what is the charge to be able to cruise the Avon and being a keen angler I would like to moor and participate in some fishing are many places to moor available.
It was £50 for the week when I went up it; mooring is limited and no idea about fishing, sorry.
This is great
Thanks for sharing
Wow👍😊 Thank You David. I love the silence and the beautiful nature😊. Keep Up the god Work. I just love to follow you cruising videos. When Will you be cruising the Lancaster Canal?
I've no plans for it at present.
Lol, Just about watched it all, looking for any 'For Sale' signs.... seen one at 1:29:00 looks like Bidford?
a black and white sign, but can't make out the name of agent...
Looks like some great bass fishing water. Do they have black bass in UK?
I'm not into fishing so I have absolutely no idea!!!
Thanks mate!
Wonderful to be able to come along without you cutting the cruise. Even if I do love your editing and comments.
I'm being deliberately conditioned by you to read the descriptions to catch these hidden videos and honestly I'm not mad at it it's smart as hell and I get a nice reward so hail Ivan Pavlov I guess 😤
Im glad it’s working
Have you considered making real time cruising videos (no talking, just the sounds of boat and canal/river) into DVD collections we could buy?
Does anyone still buy DVDs? I thought the world had all gone to streaming these days? It'd have to be Blu-rays, DVDs just wouldn't look as nice, I think!
I enjoy your videos.
Question: Are you allowed to tow through the canals, as in using animals to tow, like the olden days?
I don't know.
Being from the southern U.S. I'd expect catfish, bluegill, perch and possibly bass in the river. What sort of fish do you think the anglers were hoping to find along those banks?
I don't fish so have no idea, alas.
Barbel,Roach,bream,Rudd,carp and maybe Pike.Fab video.Very relaxing.
I was wondering how deep the river is (approx.) on the stretch you were cruising?
I genuinely have no idea.
Apparently not all that deep: riverlevels.uk/levels/warwickshire#.XuWxXFNlCdM
David,
I know that there is a certain easter eggery facet to putting the links to these videos in the description, but I'm wondering if RUclips provides any additional benefit to the poster when viewers expand the description.
Also, might you make a video easier to find after 30 days or so? I really do love these and I've found three in the descriptions, but I really don't want to go back and check every single description on the 100+ videos I've already watched.
Cheers.
Can ,I know how you have consume after ...1 h 48 mn ?.....in ( liter ).... .l And what distance....? In ( km )...approximatively
I do not know in liter. About 10km perhaps?
That was a nice ride, David. I opened a second window and caught up on some paperwork, taking full assurance in your expertise navigation skills. Especially when you approached the two canoeists, I had to stop there for a minute just to agree with your thinking. Beautiful day!
There is nothing like the English countryside
Yes there is, the Welsh, Scottish and Irish countryside.
Oh, THAT River Avon. I was expecting a different River Avon. You don't seem to get down to the West Country very often. But great video anyway.
Yeah, not many canals down there other than the K&A
What a wonderful life I wish I can come there and work for the BBC is a camera guy and capture the show and it work for this in some way and this is just too fantastic. I would like you to focus on the restoration of these canals at and an overall look of how many were in disrepair and what years did he became back in the service or if some of them haven't been shut down at know what kind of paint in overall history picture of the canals other dilapidation and restoration times
As well as the future planned Restorations and show on the map where they are and a lot of nice graphics and in details that give an understanding of of what how they were brought back into restoration and I would like to see some more on the the services and amenities that you get whenever you get your license you get a bathroom key and a water key and cruising the cut special gold-plated winless and I'm sure other amenities what
I love the realtime videos! you should do one from the helm, pleassse?
Hi, I don't have a spare camera to run one continuously from the helm; the bow camera is left running like this because I can't sensibly operate it once I'm underway but the back camera is used to pick out things of interest as I go along, as seen in the vlogs.
Nice, I am actually suprised after watching all of your videos exactly how SLOW real time cruising is.
Haha, yes!
Congrats on 100k subs
Is the microphone for the bow camera inside the well deck or out front of the glass? I was wondering why the engine noise is so relatively loud 50-feet forward? Or is the engine just that loud? Maybe you could mount a GoPro camera in the front, outside near the lights?
It’s currently on the bow next to the lights but at the time this video was made, was just inside the well deck. The odd thing is, the engine doesn’t sound as loud to your ears if you sit in the same spot but microphones being what they are, pick up sound rather more indiscriminately. It’s really not that loud at all!
@@CruisingTheCut, I needed some more Slow-TV, so jumped forward to 207. Much quieter. Now I'm not sure which one i like better! But i do like them both.
Hello! I come from Vietnam. Accidentally watching his videos like and good. but give me some suggestions! You should turn daily life for more variety offline!
It sounds like your drive train has a wicked vibration?
It comes and goes, at random, but the drive is through a flexible coupling which irons it out.
woah! Hour forty five?
This is not a 'Morning Cup Of Coffee' vid, its more of an After Work Cocktails length vid.
is there fish in the canals and do you fish ever
I checked that out cause I am interested myself. Trolling from a narrowboat would be great. Have a look here: guidedfishing.eu/?p=243
Is it Christmas? Such a lovely present, thanks for sharing.
COOL MAN!
Do you ever navigate using Google maps or is it a case of follow the canal and guide books?
I do like to look up places using Google's satellite view in advance but when on the move it's the guide book.
@@CruisingTheCut interesting. Thanks
Superb
Wow - those wide-beams really don't care to go slow, do they?
You get some slow, some fast, regardless of boat size. Don't forget this is on a river with higher speed limits too, 8 knots downstream, 6 up.
Lovely.
Another question please. How do other people earn money living on a narrow boat?
All sorts. If they're on a fixed mooring, they often have regular jobs like anyone else. If they're cruising they may have a regular job and just have to try to stay within a certain area, though this may fall foul of the continuous cruising rules. Otherwise, if genuinely cruising all over the place then any teleworking jobs - IT etc, or freelance stuff like graphic design. Lots of artistic things.
1:29:30 Kingfishers fishing
do you have those pesky zebra mussels
I believe they are in the canals, yes
Anyone else watching this whilst outside it's Big Coat weather?
nice and scenic
Here is a good reason that you cruise the canals.
Hi very rela,xing great
Thank you very much
Lol I was expecting some swear words in this unedited version.
Haha if you listen carefully you'll probably hear some!
1:13:29 unbelievable!. You've clearly just passed a fishing rod still connected to a fish whom's dragged poor fisherperson (genderneutral, very modern) into the mirky bottom of the Avon. Very lucky not to snag the prop!
You can tell you down south because nobody is waving.
They do wave but you wouldn't see it on the bow camera; folk have gone past that before the wave as they come alongside.
