Wow, over 55,000 views! Thanks to the entire team at J Whites Automotive who did an incredible job on my Disco frame swap. Truck is running and riding better than ever. Sure, a job like this would not make sense for everyone...but I could not let a rusted frame be the demise of an otherwise clean, low mileage truck that I love like a member of the family and intend to keep for a very long time. Thanks Jeff, Shirley, & extended team for your supreme customer care and quality of work, and thanks to everyone who has viewed and commented so far. Cheers to all the other Discos out there and their dedicated owners!
Great to see you here Alex. Thank you for taking the time to comment. We enjoyed every step of the process. Sure the project came with some degree of necessity, but it also included elements of fun and adventure. We do a lot of projects that might not make sense to everyone, but make a whole lot of sense when we become part of the owner's creative process and the whole story behind their project. By the way, your story has inspired other dedicated owners to do the same. Who knows we might just have to start an event for Discovery owners, similar to the one we do for Series trucks :)
@357MagnumPlinkster Society Frame is $5000.00 so add over 20ish hours labour plus odds+ends and you'd be sitting close to $10K I'd bet. Your better off to wash your vehicle well and have the frame treated with Dintrel or another rust inhibitor inside and out of the frame and everywhere else moister can collect. Before the rust starts, like from new. You have to really love your Disco and intend on keeping it for a long time to want to replace the frame, I'm considering it as my rear section has started to rust but I do intend on keeping the truck and installing either a Cummins R2.8 or building a stronger 4.6 to give it more power and be less vulnerable to cylinder liners leaking. But, I don't care that Disco's are not worth much anymore, I think one day they may be more appreciated if in decent shape because in many ways they are a far better vehicle than a Defender.

We work on those too Johnny. We see all kinds of brand loyals. Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
shirley warren cool I'm loyal bout common sense and reliability never owned a toyota but those land rovers are a mechanical mess thanks for your reply though i know your busy over there i meant the owner wouda been better off but it takes all kinds i guess take care 👍
@@johnnydoggs The Land Rovers are certainly tough if you don't specialize in working with them or don't have a shop that does. It is part of the reason why we exist. If I had to pick between an older Land Cruiser or a Discovery, I would have a really hard time choosing!
shirley warren i get'cha 👍
fair play to the mechanics but WHY its just a rusty disco for gods sake just save your self time SCRAP IT
mazza p Thanks for watching Mazza! To some its a rusty disco, and to others its a memory making machine. Its hard to understand until you start knowing the people involved and their stories and then it becomes crystal clear.
Can’t be worth doing, those discos are almost worthless with good frames.
Thank you for sharing your opinion here, although I think around here, many might not agree.
My comment was in no way intended to be a negativ reflection of your work. My point was because I can buy entire discos all day long for less than a grand. If you guys do this with any frequency and have any interest I could probably start shipping you as many as you'd need.
Thank you Bryan. We don't build cars on spec to flip them. Your capacity to find good candidates for refurbishment might be of interest to those looking.
Not worth all that effort scrap the car work on that land cruiser
Land Cruiser owner must be grinning ear to ear after reading your take.
4 minutes? Yeah and how long to replace from start to finish actual time. Toyota quit buying cheap steel from China your better than that.
More than four minutes for sure Brian, fifty hours of work happened to bring you this video. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and watch.
