have not seen you since you left the USA and went back to the UK. ENJOYED this episode of the land rover. it is a respected brand everywhere. god bless😊 i doubt the 16K miles is correct. it is probably more like 116K miles with all that rust on it. odometer rollback more than likely.
Having had a couple of these, they're the best vehicles ever made. Yeah they rust, but they're nearly 30 years old... and not difficult to sort. Simple. Reliable. Comfortable and capable. I'd have another one tomorrow.
Just bought a 97 disco 1 with the manual gearbox. What a treat these trucks are to drive. If you can find one the manual v8 is the peak disco 1 form for driving pleasure
he's round up the transmission and trying to move the lever while it's under load ,just reverse a foot or so ,,that or it's never been put in to low and the linkage has semi seized ,no big issue,no bs ,they all do it
So glad I found this page. I really like this combo of Mike and Elvis. I have watched all the years. I do not like the way MotorTrend went, so I cancelled that sub. I can't do Discovery right now, but I can see a little of you again.
Speedo may have done 16,000 miles, but the rest of the car has done a lot more, or its been down a salt mine during its life. I have had many original Range Rovers and Discoveries over the years, and not had corrosion like that and they were all between 60000 and 140,000 miles, i also check carefully before buying! I currently have a RR LSE, which is tatty but not rotten, 115K, and a series 1 Discovery...62K, and that is totally mint underneath and body wise...MOT man comments every year on how good and corrosion free it is!
Elvis and Mike, you must help me! I love Land Rover and I own a 95 Disco 1, but I have a problem. My seats are rubbish. The leather is cracked and ripped, and I want to replace it. The problem is I cannot find any factory cloth seat covers. I don't really care for leather and would really appreciate it if you could recommend some companies who have cloth replacements for sale. I am more than willing to pay for the shipping from all the way over the pond. I love my old Landy and want to enjoy another 15 and more years with her.
How come this full episode isn’t in the actual series on Amazon Prime, Apple TV. I am a Landry fan. Why wouldn’t you put this episode out internationally?
Been through all that shit myself 3x. Awesome machines and well capable of following a 90/110 through the ruff-stuff, but how many have been cared for in their lives? probs not many, especially with the rear arches, boot floors and inner wings etc.
I can’t be 100% but I’m sure that’s an ex factory car? OAC ? I’ve owned a 200tdi and 300tdi Discovery and they were both excellent cars, I know the V8 is a nice engine but it was never a choice for me with the mileage and towing I was doing.👍 cheers Paul
I worked for Land Rover in Solihull in the mid 80's. P reg would have been the last year. I think that reg would have been Oxford, so, IF it was a company car, it would likely be for one of the very senior execs, likely at the Cowley plant. My last company car, when I left to join PSA, was a Montego VDP Estate. I was talking with a friend just last week who was contemplating buying a Mk1 Range Rover, and I started listing off all the things that go wrong with them (it is a LONG list), and then I begged him NOT to buy one. Some of the horror story cars that were pushed off the end of the line and were simply left in a field because, after hours of work by engineers, they still wouldn't go ... If this IS genuinely only 16K, it makes me wonder if this was one that died around its time for replacement as a company car. Those got sold off REALLY cheap in auctions.
All the naysayers... Yes he paid too much but decent ones are hard to find, a 2 door would be more collectable, yes it has rust, it's 26 years old, how many cars are still on the road at 26 yrs?, Nissan Navara's and a lot of Japanese stuff have well rotted away or snapped in half by then. People moan about Defenders and early Discovery's, most buy them secondhand and service them like a 2 year old Fiesta while using them like a U boat, they need servicing properly, ALL the oils need changing at regular intervals, props and swivels need greasing, budget on having all 4 corners sorted once purchased, discs, pads, wheel bearings, front swivels and seals, once done it will last well, service and body parts in the UK are cheap and plentyful (everything from a new chassis up is available) and the older Defenders and Disco's are simple to fix with basic tools. The milage from it's first MOT is consistent and no major fails either.
Top tip.. if its not a DEFENDER SERIES 1. Dont buy ANY rover. Had a 94 ranger rover, was so bad we donated it to the parts breaker.. he crushed it straight away.
Could’ve at least finished the video on the mechanical part of freeing up the selector pin. And spent less time showing the purchase of the vehicle. Just my opinion. I gave the video a thumbs down for this reason…sorry 🤷♂️
@3.19 looks like a tow rope being used, shortly after he says "You can climb anything in low ratio..." 🤣
Funny I thought that too.
Looks like it to me too.
It’s not being used.
Just about to post the same thing.
Yup. Spot on.
I love the Joy Mike has when he drives vehicles. He is so enthusiastic about cars. Great video - more like this please.
This show is better when Mike's screen time is at a minimum. This show's strength has always been in the fixing. Less Mike equals better show.
The first discovery I've ever been, I've been loving them ever since especially the Discovery 4.
Pls a don't miss to roll out a continuation episode on this...waiting to see the landie back in full form..

one of worst made...is how it is in the states
100 pc agree old discos where the best.. Have their faults.. But cheap and cheerful to fix.
New landys are crap boxes
Just bought a 97 disco 1 with the manual gearbox. What a treat these trucks are to drive. If you can find one the manual v8 is the peak disco 1 form for driving pleasure
Only 16,000 miles and the high-low selector is buggered! More like 216,000miles, Mike 😂😮😅
well it is a British vehicle, so it might well be 16k original...
he's round up the transmission and trying to move the lever while it's under load ,just reverse a foot or so ,,that or it's never been put in to low and the linkage has semi seized ,no big issue,no bs ,they all do it

I’ve had a 1,2 and a 3, and the 1 300Tdi was the best of the lot.
Its great to see you on WD Mike!!! Love the familiar feel of the OG!!!
Nice to see you doing this again Mike , WD that is. Good luck mate ❤
I would love to see WD do a few episodes where they check in with past buyers of their cars and see how they are holding up
I've owned two Disco II's and loved them, especially off-roading. Unfortunately I couldn't afford the gas and maintenance and sold them both on.
I remember when they had 1 of these through the workshop before, pity they didnt mention it on this episode!

Russell could sell fridges to Eskimos, love him
yes top id watch all these, all day.
Ed China was the heart of the program. I wonder why the other guy remains in DW …

I can't find this episode on discovery plus
Missed your show... Where is the rest of the Land Rover clip?
Why was the disco towed on the buying test drive? Did Mr Brewer get it stuck? 😂
Do Old land rovers still last longer than newer ones 🤔
Yes they do because!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5.45 transfer stick looks to be pulled back again.🤔
Is there a part 2 .😊
hay mike thanks .
“Old out yer and”
It's a Range Rover, it absolutely rusty !
How come this full episode isn’t in the actual series on Amazon Prime, Apple TV. I am a Landry fan. Why wouldn’t you put this episode out internationally?
why was it being towed through the muddy field?
Been through all that shit myself 3x. Awesome machines and well capable of following a 90/110 through the ruff-stuff, but how many have been cared for in their lives? probs not many, especially with the rear arches, boot floors and inner wings etc.

Legendary reliability of Land Broken.
16k miles? good one ha!
Que bueno sería que los capítulos tengan subtítulos 😢
@breathoffreshair7314 muchas gracias,lo pondré en práctica
The high low lever has probably never been used
Would have just been a rusty/seized linkage
Legendary SuV
3.19 looks like a tow rope. Mike Brewer anything to add?
🤗👍👏👏
£4500 for a Disco 1 rust bucket is crazy money!! Collectible Classic🤣🤣
Yep Mike has some gutt
Far better car, and value than any 'rust bucket' Defender.
Its like its stuck in time since it broke down scrap it
Sure Mike bought a sports car from him many winter's ago...
Overpaid by 2k ,no MOT and V8 , mileage doesn't matter due to condition.
HiLo seize if not used for years. No big deal. Tin worm is the big issue
Salam Land Rover Freelander modelinin F, 4 Yazma sebebi ne ola bıler imkan olsa yazında
It is so bad that the bodywork is completely missing.
He took the chassis off the base😬
Just try to work out the labour costs? Way more than the little profit made here.....Their running out of ideas 😂😂😂
Ed China 4ever!
Typical Brewer fibs, definitely a tow rope.
I think someone has been done up the botty with the mileage

Would not have it for free .
I bought one last year in better condition than this. For £750 😮 why’s he paying £4500 for a disco 1 🤷🏻♂️
Oh my god buy it right away 16k ????
That LR is a right load of rubbish. Just 16K and rotting already.
No wonder Russ wanted rid of it
Should clean the car and get all that mud off before working onit
Could’ve at least finished the video on the mechanical part of freeing up the selector pin. And spent less time showing the purchase of the vehicle. Just my opinion. I gave the video a thumbs down for this reason…sorry 🤷♂️
Wif a wittow bit o' luck . . . .
Scrap
Isn't this a Range- rover and not a Land-rover as the title suggests? Anyway I don't think I'd buy a car from that guy. He seems dodgy
no
@arsenalemirates1275 ah thank you for clearing that up
Country of charlatans 😂😂😂
First 😊
