Thanks a million Craig. The way you demonstrate a correct motion repetitively is fantastic! "Doing the best we can do", "Trying to hang on to the plane", "We tend to move unconsciously in very lazy positions", "Turning with tilt". Major lightbulbs are definitely going off ! After being out of commission for three years, I am starting to hit some lovely shots applying your clearly demonstrated principals. Your "release" video is a brilliant revelation. For years I have known it was present in a great shot, but had not a clue how to pin point the specific action; it is no longer a mystery.
3:33, "I absolutely flushed that by the way". Just proves that striking the ball flush with compression never gets old! :-). You rock, Craig! Keep the great videos coming...
One of the many excellent videos you have done. So good. You changed my swing with the video you did about pulling your left shoulder down and whipping it back on the backswing. Keep up the good work. You're the best online teacher I've ever seen.
I honestly have saved about 300 videos on Golf in the past 6-7years. This tip with the head tilt is absolute gold. Thanks! This solves one of my long-time problems with my insufficient body tilting.
Great information sir! I won’t even wait until i go to the range I’m starting at home just to mimic your golf swing.Water pouring from ear is easy to remember and makes sense I love this vid. I am also working on getting my hips deeper to stay back.
Ok, I have admittedly been struggling with my 7 iron swing. I took your video out to my backyard practice area, placed some garden-sticks exactly where you put them and viola !!! What a dramatic improvement in contact. Evidently I was still coming across even though I thought I had fixed that...I had not in fact fixed that and now I'm striking the ball in the center with power and correct height. This is a good one guys, might just be the best one out there. I feel like I can now start applying some pressure to the ball and who knows maybe get my 7 iron distance back.
Siga asi!!! Adelante y suerte!!

@@CraigHansonGolf I think my golf teacher got me to do this, or resulted in this, by changing other parts of my swing without telling me about this. I'm not hitting it like I used to and thinking now this is the reason. I remember my head tilting and it reminded me of Natalie Gulbis at the time. Her ponytail whipped around as a result.
Great point, I call this head tilt my 'viewing angle'. I imagine my eyes are a camera and I'm swiveling to see more down range, so it's more of a position than a feel. Your videos are always well thought out and I love the scenery.
When I was younger, that much hip and shoulder rotation was no problem. Now that I am much older with back and knee issues, if I did that much rotation with vitrually every shot, I might be able to play nine holes once a week. I love watching Scottie strike the ball, and I am amazed how he hits it so pure, but I know my body cannot take that much stress. We have to accept what we can do, and do our best with it. I still score from mid 70's to low 80's consistently, even with losing 20+ mph of clubhead speed. Play the right tees, keep it in play, and make the putts.
I love this guy his golf instruction is number 1, I don't know how old he is probably in his fifties but when he says you older guys makes me wonder how old , I'm 67 when I was in my thirties I couldn't swing the club same as he does now but it's nice to dream
You can really hear the contact. Trevino used to stick his backside out behind him and crouched more into impact. May have been close to 60 degrees. You could even keep your weight on your lead leg throughout for greater consistency like in the Saguto videos.
Craig, What is the ideal hip tilt angle to match the 55 degree shoulder tilt in follow through? It seems to me that if the hips are flat at that point without the rear hip being lower than the lead hip that could set up stress in the lower back.
Yeah 10-17 degrees with the hips … one of worst things for the back is to turn level with your hips meaning if your right leg kicks out towards the ball the hips turn more .. this is a killer for your back..
a good thought is to monitor the head,,,feel like the top of the head remains pushed against the wall until after ball is gone always keeps you in the correct side bend.. The numbers should be that your right side bend number should match the number your torso/rib cage is open...Most all pros match those side bend and toros numbers
@@CraigHansonGolf thx,,,you can't get way open with no side bend- OTT or way side bend with no roation - way under plane.....The side bend and the torso rotation should match..
The head rotation Eye dominance is key....and I suspect Rory is right eye dominant. If one is left eye dominant, that head rotation throws the dominant eye out of position at impact. Jack, Hogan and Tiger left eye dominant.
I’m not really into dominant eye tips. I’ve never seen that help any one in my life when it cones up ball striking. The pros i saw talk about it on tour never made money and missed cuts. If your a strong believer and it has helped you that’s great i just haven’t witnessed it. I know people talk about Jack Nicklaus and him being left eye dominant …. my opinion is that Jack Niklaus isn’t an example for normal players he’s Jack. Sorry if that’s disappointing
@@RK-ig5hy IMO....IMO....the accentuated head turn thru contact works well for the right eyed dominant player because his dominant eye is still behind or on the ball. (speaking of right handed players) For a left eye dominant right handed player, if the head rotates too soon, accentuated fashion, that dominant left eye is off and in front of the ball at contact. It is still a game of hand eye coordination. This, IMO, is why Hogan Snead and Nicklaus all turned their head back to trigger the take away....getting that dominant eye behind or on the ball. A right eye dominant player would, in a sense, lose sight of the ball with that move.
Appreciate both your opinions. Though I'm not trying to purport that LED is a clear advantage (and not that anyone can choose to be one or the other), I've heard once or twice that Tiger is also LED, and when I just looked it up to confirm, Ben Hogan was too, incidentally. When I learned this about my son, I thought 'great'--he may have an easier time focusing on the ball on the backswing. But there may be a trade-off: his head hangs back, way after impact. Trying to help him break that habit to avoid spine injury. And in trying to understand the root cause(s), I wonder if the LED may be contributing--maybe bc he doesn't want to lose sight of the ball, or where the ball lied.
Craig - the Rory move is absolutely amazing. Is it really as simple as dropping your right eye below your left during the down swing to get the proper tilt? Tried it and just flushed 10 shots in a row.😮
I'm having a problem with hitting fat when coming down with side bend with an iron. I'm bending to much or not getting my weight back to the front foot. Tks for the info!
The right shoulder tilt at 2.23 is what has transformed my golf over the last week. Im a different player suddenly. Especially turning kinda before i start the down swing. Finishing like hogan now
@@CraigHansonGolf Most instructors & golf buddies here in the US have told me to swing with the left arm mainly, and that the right arm is there for the ride. They say the right arm and hand will ‘kill’ your golf swing. Like Fred Couples slow motion videos, where his right hand is barely on the grip at point of impact and after. PGA pros seen practicing with their left arm only, one for instance John Daly, and Annika Sorenstam. Your thoughts? Thank you.
I think that’s absurd absolutely ridiculous. If your dominant hand is the right hand you should feel exactly what it does. Golf tips and so much instruction is just so bad
