Thank you for this information. I suffered a stroke three years ago and I am struggeling to cope with this situation. Your exercises are integral part of my daily workout.
I’m so sorry to hear about your stroke. I’m glad you’re finding the exercises helpful ❤️ are you able to talk with a counselor or mental health therapist about your struggle?
@@PostStrokeOrg I had a stroke in the right thalamus. Every day I do 10,000 steps, your seven exercises, some stretching exercises, as well as weight exercises (2x3kg dumbbells). I have to travel periodically and then I can't do these exercises for one or two days, but then I notice that I feel quite bad without them. I have hardly any physical limitations, just the feeling of ants constantly crawling over my left extremities is very unbearable. I am a mathematician and write books, my main problem is that since the stroke I have had difficulty concentrating, which greatly hinders me. I have also become very sensitive to weather, which I wasn't before. Some days I feel almost good, but on other days it's pretty bad again. Of course, it may also be due to my age, I am 80 years old and my resilience is slowly diminishing. My dear wife is Italian and she cooks Mediterranean cuisine, so my diet should be okay... As a veteran that has been homeless living in my car for 6 months now, I thought i would enjoy myself one night and have a beer (i normally don't drink) and enjoy a few pieces of thc-infused chocolate. I found that this triggered a stroke an hour after the chocolate. I still have all my cognitive abilities but am now constantly fighting a spinning feeling and stability. This makes me nauseous and i usually throw up each morning now. I'm fighting this as best i can and your advice is very good but i find it difficult due to being homeless but I'm trying. Thank you for the advice. Randy Ps - I spent 2 weeks in the hospital but the determination was that it hurt my cerebellum and recovery would be very slow so they discharged me.
I had 2 left punctuate thalamic strokes on July 6 of this year. Right eye peripheral vision gone, right leg weak, cognitive issues with concentration, thought proccessing, and memory make daily life challenging but am working my recovery program and hope to see some healing in time. Just thankful to be alive. I am gaining really good information on your channel, so thank you!!
Starch is just a bunch of glicose molecules which are relatively easy to split especiallystarch from milled grain so as well as minimising sugar we should also minimise milled grain intake i.e. flour based foods.
This is a common misconception. Those long chains are slower to break down, so they release simple sugar into the bloodstream slowly and steadily. So starches are actually a great form of slow-release energy. Eating simple sugar without fiber, such as table sugar, is released quickly, all at once in the blood stream, which is harder on the body. Eating starches is a great way to get in ample carbohydrate but in a slow-release form. We need to eat both complex carbs and simple carbs throughout the day. This information is available in standard college nutrition 101 curriculum, so it's well established information from reliable sources from many decades of nutrition research (unlike fly-by-night diets that promote this myth.)
@@plant495 How do you explain that white bread had a higher glycaemic index than sucrose? How do you explain the fact that people can survive quite readily on a pure carnivore diet which contains co carbohydrate? Or that it's possible for a person on a keto diet to run five marathons in five days while fasting? Perhaps your standard college nutrition curriculum is out of date.
My dad had an ischemic stroke March 17th. I think it was due to drinking alcohol. He had just finished 6 rounds of chemo. I am taking care of him daily.
Hi, your videos, especially, food, exercises, and recovery ones are helpful. My mother has had three mild strokes since 2019. She had first one in December 2019. Second in August 2024, followed by third mild stroke in September 2024 after left femur bone fracture related surgery. Bed rest and urine catheter resulted in UTI infection this month. She is doing fine since Nov 7 now. Speech has recovered, and so has her left hand functioning. Left leg does move slightly. Short term memory loss is a concern, and doctors suggest these are signs of Parkinson's. We hope to see her recover enough to sit and walk a few steps so that we can at least take her to the bathroom, and a quick walk outside each morning. Do pray God for her early recovery.
My doctor told me to eat more salt, because my blood pressure was to low. Once I started doing this it brought it up to normal. My bp was so low I was feeling dizzy
Why do I see so many conflicting answers regarding to red meat and strokes? KenDBerryMD and Dr. Eric Berg DC both have videos saying that red meat cause stroke is only based on observational studies?
I’m surprised that all of us haven’t had strokes before we are 20. Sugar and Salt get blamed for everything when it comes to health. That’s a lot of people’s diet especially when you think about common breakfast cereals loaded with both sugar and salt, cookies, sports drinks sodas … you name it. I wonder about some of these studies. I think they are missing something.
The missing something is the high levels of stress that most of us have in our lives. I believe, and there are studies I'm sure, that would support this, that stress is one of the biggest causes of stroke. My boyfriend follows a vegan diet, hardly any salt, or sugar, and is thin as a rail. He already takes medicine for high blood pressure and takes blood thinner due to having an artificial valve for the last 20 years or so. His blood is checked every 2 weeks for this. He has had more stress in his life over the last 9 months or so. He had an especially high amount for about a week, then proceeded to have a stroke. My dad on the other hand, was obese, ate terrible with tons of sugar, salt and fat inhis diet, plus he smoked a lot every day since a teenager, and he never had a stroke or heart attack. He died from falling, breaking a hip and then aspirating from pneumonia in the nursing home he was in. He was 85. My boyfriend is 64. The difference between them? My dad never stressed out about things or thought about other people. My boyfriend has high anxiety and stresses out about everything. I do too, and am worried about my own health because of it.
After my stroke I started the keto diet. High protest and low carb. I lost 90 lbs. I often eat no sodium deli turkey, drink zero alcohol and keep my sodium intake to 500-750 mgs a dad. I do consume red meat. What’s your opinion on that kind of diet?
I kind of doing the same, I currently start the day with one crushed, chopped garlic clove in the juice of half a lemon with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, all added to a glass of water, i now crave it in the morning. Tthen I'll eat sausage, bacon and scrambled egg with black coffee. That keeps me going until about 4pm, I'll eat a few mixed nuts in their natural state, maybe some kifir yogurt with ground flax seed and Chia seed, or a drink of full fat milk, or eat some French soft cheese or 85% dark chocolate for snacking on. I drink various herbal teas throught the day, real herbs not the supermarket herbal tea bag type. Evening meal I usually have mixed leaf salad, with cucumber, tomatoes, onion, homemade sauerkraut, beetroot, fresh thyme, fresh cut rosemary, parsley, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and apple cider vinegar, I'll have that with salmon, or mackerel or a nice fatty steak, chicken, or lamb, or organ meat. That's my daily diet every single day. I approach food as medicine, it has to get me as far away from a secondary stroke as possible, I don't know if it's the right diet but so far so good. The only salt I touch is the celtic sea salt type, mineral salt, I won't touch table salt. Cutting out the carbs and sugar and ready made foods is definitely helping. I would like to go full on carnivor but I'm leaning toward the Mediterranean diet as I'm still very cautious about it all at the moment. It's very difficult to try get enough natural protein, fat, essential minerals, vitamins and nutrients everyday without worrying about blood clots and high blood pressure, diet and nutrition seems to be minefield of contradictory information. Well there's a load of words you never asked for lol. Good luck
Great videos! It's exactly 2 months now since I suffered a cerebellum stroke. It left my body balance affected. After 3 days in hospital, I was discharged for home-based physiotherapy. Passionately, I follow Post Stroke's insights in the shared videos. In under a month, my body balance has made good progress, regaining the ability to independently walk again. However, I occasionally experience dizziness when I make sudden turns during a walk. Never take alcohol or drugs. No fast foods, sodas, or processed meals. I use extra virgin olive oil and sea salt in my home-cooked foods. Before the stroke, I used to take some garlic, ginger, and turmeric, but not anymore. Wondering about the risk of these products to stroke survivors. Could anyone share recovery information on cerebellum stroke to clear out the dizziness when walking? We are on this journey together. Thank you.
What is ironic about this video, is that the hospitals themselves don't always have healthy meals for their patients. My boyfriend is currently in the rehab section of the hospital, and he tells me that he is hardly ever offered fresh fruits or vegetables. He is a vegan, and they have hardly any vegan or vegetarian options for him. Shouldn't that be an important thing for a hospital to offer more healthy food choices?

I had a stroke 14 months ago.I can walk but am still very weak in my legs, both of them. I'm thinking I should be on a high protein diet to help rebuild muscle in my legs. Would that make sense? Thanks
Leg Exercise will strengthen leg muscles. High protein diet puts pressure on your kidneys and can cause deposits of uric acid crystals in your joints leading to osteo-arthritis. Eat a sensible amount of protein and high fibre root veggies like sweet potatoes, beetroot, turnips, pumpkins. Increase intake of vegetables like broccoli, celery, carrots, cabbage, onions, silverbeet, and eat avocado and nuts like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, to satisfy hunger.
