Are u lashing man or ship crew? I have one doubt, container ships, lashing and unlashing doing by the ship crew or shore crews?

We are ILWU union members, we are not crew. We get our jobs at our hall, and then work on whichever ship we are dispatched to.

@2:02 How is she locking the rebar into her pants? I hear time and time again, how people don't want to climb ladders with the rebar in their hands, and I'm intrigued by any solutions I can find.

We wear cargo pant with side hammer loop. Thanks for the question we will try to make short video just to show how we carry our bars.

@@gdshiplashing8239 Awesome, thanks! I think a series on any innovations you bring to the industry would be INCREDIBLY handy. I've noticed that there's a lot of "We've done it this way for a hundred years" sort of mentality in the longshore community. But the new generation are keen on any process improvements that they can find--hence watching RUclips for any advice we can find.
I've been thinking about how I might modify a piece of rebar with lips on either end, or perhaps cutouts that would help ensure it doesn't slip out when trying to crack tight buckles. There's a company producing a ratcheting buckle wrench. But it seems very unwieldly and probably prohibitively expensive.

@@kahgyt9491 Thanks for your comments. I created this channel to help new people to the industry learn. I will see what I can do as to show more of what we use for drops(delashes) and lash backs. Standard rebar seem to work for the most part and is much lighter and less cumbersome than some other options I've looked in to. I'm always open to new idea to make Lashing easier.

I also think a video on preferred gloves and clothing would be very beneficial to newbies like myself.

I’ve learned working together like this is more productive over the shift and less wear and tear.
