I've been playing and teaching acoustic instruments since '65. This lad has the perfect fingers to be able to reach just about anything with fingertips dancing on the fretboard. I love seeing and hearing young folks with a passion for playing. Well done, lad!!

Most people under 30 these days probably wouldn't go and listen to a guy like this, but I've played guitar for 15+ years. Bluegrass is one of the most involved types of music. This guy has a unique style and he's young. Ckeck out the sleepy man banjo boys also!

Banjo is my favorite instrument 👍 you are more than alright brother.
I play guitar but I want to learn banjo and dobro but I'm horrible at finger picking styles. I learned with a pick and I've gotten pretty decent at doing bluesy sounds and metal riffs. But I can't get my right hand to finger pick. I'm sure if I'd practice more i could, but after 5 minutes I say screw it and grab my favorite pick.
The world is in another good pair of hands, gives a wonderful feeling knowing these young people are around, you go man, keep on pickin' !

Awesome, Wade! I have the same story about getting into bluegrass music as you do. I first heard it on the radio totally by accident in 1991 when I was tuning the radio on a Saturday afternoon. I instantly fell in love with it. I used to be a bluegrass DJ on WHFR 89.3 in college from 1991-93 when I was 19-21. I only WISH I started learning banjo back then. I'm 42 now, and much to old to even try to learn now. God bless you, and keep up the great music!

Hey, Jeff, shiner421 is right. I'm going on 59, my left index finger has no feeling because of nerve damage from a deep cut. But I'm working on learning to play, and hope to be able to some day. Never give up!
Jeff, Dont take it personal but you are crazy to think you are too old. Im just starting and Im 30. Another local here is 46 and just started a year ago. You might not be as fast as the kid in the video but you can do it if you give it real practice and stick to it. Best of luck.

I just bought a used banjo on Monday (3/2/15). I need to find some lessons now. But I know I'll never be half as good as any of the banjo pickers I saw at SPBGMA last month -- who are HALF my age!
