    I studded my truck 2 months ago and so far great. Pulling my dump trailer loaded over 4 mountain passes. Will see how it does when I pull my triple axle toyhauler. Good luck!!

  • @hardtruth2039

    I had my 2018 head studs done when I had the truck deleted at 9000 miles. With the low miles we were able to replace them one at a time as well.

    My questions now are what’s done to bodies truck and how are the studs holding up almost 10 months later?????

    • @okc_garage
      @okc_garage  3 года назад

      Bodies truck has a S467.7 second gen swap, fleece coolant bypass, Xotic studs, CTT tuning with Ezlynk. And since he’s moved he’s done a fully built 68 and a fleece lift pump. So far so good with the head studs. He hasn’t had any issues.

    Probably a dumb question but is a hot re torque required? Or just a insurance thing to triple check

    • @okc_garage
      @okc_garage  3 года назад

      Doesn’t say it’s required but it’s just a piece of mind for me.

    • @dylanadkins5272
      @dylanadkins5272 3 года назад

      No need for a re-torque on the factory mls gasket, torque them once and be done only time you need to re-torque is if you have fire rings then the more heat soaked they are the better smush your gonna get intern keeping the head from leaving the party

    With a combination of laziness and being not confident enough to do my own head studs/valve spring job, how much would a job like this run me at a shop for my 03 Cummins?

    • @okc_garage
      @okc_garage  3 года назад +1

      I have no idea. If i had to guess I’d say probably around $1k in labor plus the cost of parts.

  • @texasmade6605
    @texasmade6605 3 года назад +1

    why do you turn the stud back a half?

    • @okc_garage
      @okc_garage  3 года назад +3

      Just so it’s not bottomed out in the head completely. That way when we torque it we stretch the stud up and not fight to push the stud further down into the block.

    @HamRadio200 3 года назад

    Exhaust is 0.026 thousandths, not 0.020 thousandths. This should be printed on your valve cover. Any less than 0.026 you're making the tolerances too tight at operating temp and thereby decreasing the adjustment interval.

    • @bb502cid
      @bb502cid 3 года назад +3

      .021-.034 for 6.7 emission equipped. .015-.030 for 6.7 non-emissions. .020 is a common lash for this application, some refer to it as 5.9 spec. I’m running 0.20 on my 4th Gen as well.
