    Good job on the jigs. I've been tying since the fifty's and way back when I didn't pour lead I would tye on a split shot to the hook, then a shot of glue. Then paint and feathers or hair.
    Good luck and health for you and your's. 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes Rolla MO .

    Kool! Excellent workmanship. I've been tying flies for some time now, but never watched anyone do a jig. Very interesting. You are a good instructor. And your whole shop setup is on point. Great layout; everything accessible.

    Been tying for 25 years and you did a fantastic job teaching the process. Over the years as I got better and winning tournaments on my jigs and spinner baits I started tying for freinds and family and before I knew it....phone started ringing and now I tie fornthe public. I have custom designed spinner bait molds with short arm wire for night time smallmouth. I used a CAD system to design my molds and them machined them out. I most tie crappie, smallmouth and striper baits. Great job and thanks for sharing.

    I tie commercially and thought folks might be interested in knowing that Rapala makes "Super Line" scissors that you can pick up for about $5. I have made over 7,000 bucktail jigs using my current pair. One of the blades is serrated and grips bucktail nicely. Hope it saves folks a few bucks.

      For some reason I can’t watch the video I’ve been trying my own bucktails for stripers for about an years now and have gotten pretty good at it. My only question to you is have you ever tried vinyl jig paint and is it a lot tougher than powder coat?

    Instead of using a file. Use a hammer and hit it flat. Itś fast and it doesn´t create any particles. LIked the video. I picked up great tips. Thanks for publishing it.

    Keep my bobbins clean and quick suck with mouth gets thread through bobbin easier and faster than using threader.

    I've gone to using tin instead of lead for almost all but my heaviest jigs. Because tin is lighter than lead it allows me to have a larger profile, and larger hook, for the same weight jig, and it eliminates the "need" to paint, as tin stays shiny.

    There’s a trick for threading your bobbin. Insert your thread into the bottom of the tube and suck on the other side. Make sure you have enough slack and it’ll come right out the other side. I’ve never used one of those little threaders.

  • @ColinD0131
    @ColinD0131 Год назад +1

    Bobin threader is what it is called.
    Here is a tip about bucktail if you don't know already. The bucktail from a deer can vary from tail to tail. The hair can be straight or wavey . Straight hair is ideal for most jigs. Hollow and the base and the hair gets stiffer and less hollow the closer to the tip of the tail.

I have a few banana jigs already pored. What colors work good for Stripers? I take it the colors you have hanging work good? Thanks for your help.

      You could, but I prefer to get the jigs cleaned up first and looking perfect, file down any rough areas, etc which is easier to do when cool when you can handle them.
