A highlight of the first tunas caught on the new rig, our Bluewater 2150. Fishing out of Belmar, NJ for these trips, we managed to get our first bluefin and yellowfin tuna in the boat. We still have much to learn about offshore fishing, adding to the challenge is trying to do it safely in a small, single power boat!

    Good job on the jigs. I've been tying since the fifty's and way back when I didn't pour lead I would tye on a split shot to the hook, then a shot of glue. Then paint and feathers or hair. Good luck and health for you and your's. 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes Rolla MO .

    Suggestion for securing hair. After a few wraps securing hair, wrap and tighten with 28 gauge floral wire then finish wrapping normal. Hair should hold a lot better. Walmart had best price. Hope this helps. Might not be an easier way to tie but should hold better.

    Bobin threader is what it is called. Here is a tip about bucktail if you don't know already. The bucktail from a deer can vary from tail to tail. The hair can be straight or wavey . Straight hair is ideal for most jigs. Hollow and the base and the hair gets stiffer and less hollow the closer to the tip of the tail.

    Does the rubber band stay on or do you take that off? And any thoughts as to why mojos have hair tied in reverse compared with a traditional bucktail?

    • @redline927
      @redline927 Год назад

      rubber band is just a holder while tying, it comes off before using. they are tied in reverse in order to give a larger profile when running in the water

    Been tying for 25 years and you did a fantastic job teaching the process. Over the years as I got better and winning tournaments on my jigs and spinner baits I started tying for freinds and family and before I knew it....phone started ringing and now I tie fornthe public. I have custom designed spinner bait molds with short arm wire for night time smallmouth. I used a CAD system to design my molds and them machined them out. I most tie crappie, smallmouth and striper baits. Great job and thanks for sharing.

    Nice jobs on the Mojos! I buy some every year for 10-$13. I'd consider making them, but not sure I'd ever break even on the supplies. Would you mind sharing what it costs to make a 10oz mojo? Just a single unit - not the molds and special tools....If you're doing this as a business then no need to share costs - I understand.
