  • We install a moderate system in a small Intech Travel Trailer, plenty of power to make coffee, boil water, run the microwave and more all without a generator.
    In addition to the basics we also installed a fan to remove heat form the compartment and tested it all with a FLIR imaging camera.

    Great video nice work, I have the exact same trailer, is that setup enough to run the air conditioner overnight? Thanks

    the Renogy panel was cool. I never saw that size panel in a fold up package.

    Thanks for the video. I’m buying the slightly larger trailer called the dusk and want to do that type of upgrade. What size batteries did you use and what were the measurements? I am hoping to go with the epoch 300ah battery (x2 for 600ah) but not sure if they will fit. With this setup can you run the ac on batteries and use solar to keep the batteries charged?

      @sotasolar  4 месяца назад

      We did the SOK 206 ah batteries. Exact specs should be on SOKs website.
      To run ac on solar requires a lot of solar. I’d say 1600-1800w minimum. You can still run an AC on less you’ll just be using battery to do it, solar will just offset.

    I dont see a ground from the Lynx to the Multiplus

    Question, what did you need to do related to the converter. I’m to a point where I’ve completed the AC connections, I believe I saw that the last breaker is switched off in the video, is that for the converter? Also what gauge did you run to the battery switch, I was going to use 2AWG, OEM gauge was 10. thanks for the video.

      Disconnect the converter. Wire gauge should be 4/0 if Multiplus 3000, 2/0 if 2000. Don’t burn your camper down :-)

    Hi- great video. I'm in the middle of a DIY Xantrex Freedom XC Pro 3000 install on my exact same Intech Sol Horizon Rover trailer. I really appreciate your video. I do have questions I hope you can help me with. 1. What type of wire is the main orange wire you extended down to the Multiplus? I pulled my panel, but couldn't see the type printed on the wire. I can't find anything that looks like it on Amazon either. Working on this project in phases, I couldn't pull the wire out of the panel either. 2. I'm not and electrician, and I see a lot of confusing, conflicting info with crucial detail missing that I need to understand. The Xantrex 3000 is capable of putting out 50 amps. The Sol is a 30 amp trailer. I'm never going to add any additional circuits. The AC obviously runs on 30 amps. Xantrex recommends 6/3 wire for the 3000, but its huge to run except by your external method that I'm not opposed to. But do I HAVE to run 6/3 if I'm only ever going to have 30 amp loads run? I don't want to burn my investment down though. I see you aren't running 6/3 to/from the muliplus, but I still can't tell what that orange cable is... 3. Is that area whre you ran the cables actually part of the refridgerator, or "built-in" InTech vent area the fridge butts up against? I've basically bounced around and came to the same conclusion with your component placement. Intech doesn't make it easy with that dinky storage compartment to get things to fit, and get enough airflow. I'm also ordering that FLIR camera because I am overly paranoid. Thanks very much!

      The wire is available at any Home Improvement store. You’ll find it in the electrical section sometimes called 10/2.
      When looking at amps on an inverter charger, there’s two different ratings. One is for the AC input which is the typical RV 30 or 50 amp 30 amp uses 10/2 wire 50 amp uses 6/3 wire then there is the DC input and output typically that somewhere between 50 and 100 amps.
      The inverter we installed here is capable of operating a 50 amp RV and using 6/3 wire but there’s nothing wrong with using 10/2 because the inverter itself can’t output more than 30 AC power. The 30 or 50 amp distinction only has to do with the pass-through current.

      I can’t thank you enough for you identifying the wire. I since watched the vid in slow motion and did see that it was 10/2. And I think I understand now about the pass through distinction- I still have to research and digest that. Do you have a breaker on the AC in? And what about the wire run up through that vent- is that vent part of the actual fridge? I’m wondering about fridge servicing/replacement. If it is NOT part of the fridge, that run is pure time saving genius! THANK YOU!

    This looks great, and is exactly what I wanted to see. I live about an hour from you and have an Intech flyer forge that I just purchased, which has very similar if not the same progressive dynamics converter charger. I’ll be looking to do a similar but slightly more expansive build with you later on in the year. How exactly does the new charge inverter work with the original PD charge converter?

      Doh! I forgot to mention what we do there. Easiest thing, just turn off the breaker for it. Sometimes if the circuit does more than 1 thing we’ll disconnect it. With the Multiplus, it is redundant.

    REQUEST you provide your parts list or description... use your own part number or whatever, but I am unfamiliar with this equipment and trying to take notes is impossible to do correctly. C'mon, you can find a way to do this without giving up all your trade secrets!! Thanks

    I noticed that on Amazon the breaker listed only up to 2/0 cable. Did you have any problems with 4/0 cables

    I'm considering the same trailer. Could the Victron MultiPlus or batteries be put in the compartment under the seat on the passenger side to keep from getting so crowded? From what you did for this one what kind of price range would it be in?

    • @sotasolar
      @sotasolar  4 месяца назад +1

      I think they could if you want to give up the space. For us to do it, it’s about $6000 all said and done.

      That is VERY reasonable considering the quality components and the quality work you do. The only thing different I would want is two 200 rigids on the roof and a third SOK,.....reason for asking about having the batteries and the MultiPlus in separate compartments. That Renogy 400 ground deployment panel looks awesome. @@sotasolar

    Very tough for any maintenance. I hope you have the codes off the units for fixing pass word problems and so on ... How do you put in 107 amps and the unit is set for 14 amps ... from shore? I think the charge controller .. inverter is to have 4" air around it

    • @sotasolar
      @sotasolar  4 месяца назад

      14 amps AC input limit is 120VAC that’s over 1600w , if we translate that back down to the battery current that’s well over 100 amps DC . All about watts / volts = amps
