Good stuff! The ProRes looks slightly better imo. I don't know what makes it more "snappy," but I do feel like I can see textures more with the PR footage but not to the point where it looks too busy. Not to say the S5 internal looks bad, because it doesn't. It looks great! It would be nice if youtube didn't alter the uploads so much because, if available, I'll watch mirrored uploads on viemo. The quality is so satisfying. Does the S5 have unlimited recording time in a 1080p 10 bit 422 format? It's a neat camera, and I'm thinking about getting one.
Why is the color science itself different? 12 bit vs 10 bit shouldnt change the color science. Weird. Ive seen some videos where prores just has a slight DR reduction. Some videos where both internal and prores look 100% the same. And this one for some reason has the biggest color difference ive ever seen. Almost looks like it could be a NLE issue where the V gamut color space isnt being recognized in the internal.
Are you able or willing to do a workflow video? I am banging my head against the wall with HDR delivery. I'm using a Panasonic LUMIX S5; editing in in DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.1.4. Whether I use internal recording or Atomos Ninja V seems to make no difference. I produce just the files I want in the colour page. The files play back beautifully on the screen; but when uploaded to youTube they are SDR not HDR. I think it's something I'm doing wrong in the deliver page but I can't find the answer. When I check the inspector on the output file it states HDR Type HDR10. I'm guessing Resolve isn't embedding some necessary data tags but not sure. Here are my settings: Deliver Settings: Format: Quicktime Codec: H.264 ticked Export HDR10 Metadata ticked Embed HDR10 Metadata Color Space Tag P3-D65 Gamma Tag ST2084 1000 nit Color Management Settings: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed Color Processing mode: HDR DaVinci Wide Gamut Intermediate Output Color Space: P3-D65 ST2084 1000 nits tick HDR Mastering is for 1000 nits tick enable hdr10+
Don't export h264. Use 265 main 10 or use DNxHR as a delivery format. Both work with RUclips on Resolve (I've personally done it) and h264 through resolve for hdr simply does not work on RUclips.
Hi. When you said "pro res" it's "pro res raw" right? or it's possible recording just in pro res with Átomos. I am new on the S5 with Átomos, thanks e great job!
10 bit panels and 12 bit panels is same as color. 10 bit enough for colors. Difference is 12 bit have more shades of colors. 12 bit is more shades of colors, doesn't mean more colors or better color, So more shades of colors means a smoother transition between colors, So this also means less banding. 12 bit need have more brightness (nits) on TV or monitor so you can see better.
12 bit literally means more colors since shades of colors are exactly what define the amount of colors. Lol. On a mathematical level it is true. But yes color space and how large the color space is is more what people think.
One question, by saying prores 4444 12 bit do you mean prores raw? Im curious since im a davinci resolve user and davinci cant read prores raw, if it can actually record regular prores in 4444 id really consider getting an external recorder
Hello nice comparision, I am new on S5, s5 recording format max 150 mbs right s1h has 400 mbs. If I record via Ninja, can I record more than 150bs speed to get better quality with S5?
This is getting into the "everything looks good until you see something better" territory.
I think a side by side frame comparison would be better to represent the difference or a split view.
Never knew you can shoot could do 5.9k prores 4444, thought you could only do prores raw or braw. Was this recorded with an atomos or a video assist?
He probably shot in hQ but rendered it out in 4444 I do it

Thanks for watching. Unlimited 1080p 422 is available.

Secondly I'd avoid enabling HDR 10+ just to be safe given RUclips doesn't support it. The rest is all correct and I have 0 doubt H265 will work.

are you telling me the panasonic s5 with the ninja v can do 4444 12bit?

What conversion lut do you use / like best for V-Log
Hey Hugo, that's my question as well bro!
Can you make a comparison between V-log 4k 422 30fps internal vs Prores 4k 422 30fps?
Where is the Prores coming from?
Nice Grading.
what sd card do you use for 10 bit 422?
V30 128gb

Hi. If you record via Atomos, you get 3gb/s in 5.9k prores raw, and much better Color.
@@deschanelstudio8778 vaooov that is insane thank you sir.
@@deschanelstudio8778 is it essential to get the ninja v for 12bit?
speak frankly i cannt say differenc maybe in a larger screen like 64ins or in a mac screen would seen some differenc :)
What lens?
Sirui anamorphic 50mm T2.9 1.6x
is this pro res raw?
Yeah
junk in - junk out this will never show anything different footage awful either way
