I have had this radio for about a year now. No real complaints. I hear people fussing that they can't pick up anything on the shortwave "band" but most people just don't understand the frequencies and bands. They think just turn it on and hear people all over the world instantly talking immediately. Yeah out of the box with the antenna and nothing more it's a good am/fm radio and nothing more. I've heard great stuff on it with a long wire antenna. I love it because it's small and easily fits in any bags. The batteries last a very long time because it does not get loud or do much. It's solid as it 8s though

After watching one of your videos months a ago I grabbed the Tecsun R9012. It was only $22 and I like the large analog looking tuning dial. Works great.

I have a job I do in Arizona for 27 hours a month that's 50 miles from the Phoenix transmitters, and about 40 miles from the mountain Prescott ones. The tuner on V117 is truly a bargain for the $12 I spent. I have a V115 which sounds better, but the tuner sensitivity doesn't come close. The stepped tuning on the small dial is tricky at first, but comes better with practice.

Word is they are coming back in brick and mortar as well as online. They are supposedly going to mainly focus on radios.

I fell into this video because I was looking for a review of this specific model for a friend of mine who is blind.
I got astonished for something you said about AM transmissions in your area. Isn't really there any AM transmitter in 500 miles (804km) around? That would be like having almost my whole country (Spain) without any AM station at all. AM here has only the major talk radios (RNE ones, COPE, SER, maybe Onda Cero and some other private and region-owned ones) and, who knows, maybe they are still there for some sort of public service for very exceptionally remote areas. I even have one in my city (Alcoy) which is 60000 people, and aother one(s) 60km away near Alicante (300000 people), and oher(s) about 120km away near Valencia (800000 people), not to mention one located in Algeria /Jill FM) that, according to the info I have, transmits with the same power as Radio China International (150kW) and all of them can be caught outdoors during daytime and even indoors, if there is not much electromagnetic disturbance in a specific spot. AM is dying here, but is not so dead. I thought that, just because you have large "empty" land areas, you would put some emphasis in AM transmissions than us.
I imagine that happens in your country because you guys focus in NOAA for an emergency case. Is it true? Is NOAA still valued by an average person there, or it's just a thing for "radio nerds" like me?
Sorry, that a long comment, I should have kept it short. My apologies.
