- In this video I replace the driveshaft in a Ford Transit Custom. This van had a noise at 60MPH that sounded like wheel bearing noise. When inspected, the CV joint had play in it and it was important to change it out before more damage is done. The replacement is very easy but some of the bolts can be difficult to remove. In addition you will have to remove the gearbox oil and ideally replace with new oil.
Thanks for the great help from this video and the wheel bearing one, I had the same struggles! Much appreciated.
Hi my friend, leave car jack under vehicle just in case it was to slip of axle stand. Thank you for the video
Did this cure your noise at 60mph? Maybe it was the bearing on the driveshaft itself
It did not cure the issue. It was the bearing on the other side that cured it.
Not much detail
Do better 👍🏼
Sound it seems rather simple enough, would it be the procedure for the other side?
@@christowle7093 the other side is is the same, but the drive shaft is shorter and does not have the bearing in the middle. So just a few less bolts.
@@hosuandreiremus thanks for replying, still have to drain gearbox oil and remove lower suspension arm from the hub?
Cheers
@@christowle7093 yes. You still need to drain the oil otherwise it will leak when ehrn you remove the driveshaft. I also think you need to disconnect from the hub, otherwise I cant see a way to pull the driveshaft out.
@@hosuandreiremus OK that's brilliant, I think you have helped alot and I look forward to doing my replacement in the next week or so. Thank you ill be watching again for sure
