      Mimbari humour is based on failure to achieve enlightenment. For Marcus to go through all that and learn nothing is funnier than hell.

    Marcus Cole was fantastic; even J.M.S. had to admit killing him off was a mistake.

    • @JK-Visions
      @JK-Visions  6 месяцев назад +9

      He was fantastic. But his death made it more dramatic and that was the whole purpose. Although I would have loved him to stay in the series we were blessed with the amount he was in it

      J.M.S. said that he killed Marcus off because he wanted Ivanova to carry that sacrifice for the last season; and Claudia killed it in that last scene, no doubt.
      But then she decided to leave the show... leaving him up the creek, so to speak. I doesn't matter; it's still the show most likely to make me cry like a little kid.
      Franklin meeting himself in Downbelow during his walkabout slays me every time as well... I watch that sequence several times a year.

      If it helps, JMS wrote a short story in which Marcus is revived. That's why in the final episode there is an onscreen graphic stating that Marcus is in suspension, not dead. He awakens many years later and introduces himself to a clone of Ivanova. It's called *Space, Time and the Incurable Romantic.*

      Jason Carter was Francis Ford Coppola's first pick to play Dracula in BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA; but the studio wanted a bankable name, so Oldman got the part... not that he's a lightweight or anything ;)
      Still... would have been great.
      I still love the conversation between Marcus and Franklin aboard the freighter bound for Mars, "... Aaaand that's when I shot him, your honor!".

      "You cherish life...but for the greater part to live, some must die or be harmed in its defense..." -Lennier, explaining this burden to Delenn, while Marcus is on the hospital bed after his fight with Neroon.

    Thing about Neroon - and all good antagonists in general - is that they have a point. If anyone else but Delenn was in charge of the Rangers it could have gone really bad. Thats why the Vorlons sent Jack to make sure her and Sheriden were the right people.

    First off I love Neeron. This may be a shade of the dark side of Lennier. He might have said "delay him... try to avoid confronting him directly." But considering Minbari double speak he set Marcus up to die for the greater good here. Now in his mind this would be an acceptable sacrifice, but it did set a precident for that sacrifice not being him. If Lennier killed Neroon and no one saw did a Minbari kill another Minbari?

    My favourite part was "Last chance - I was taught the pike by Durhan himself." "Really? So was I."
    I do like that Neroon's interpretation of what Delenn was up to was a plausible interpretation of the facts available to him.

    Fantastic drama, utterly horrible fight choreography. Was Durhan a master of the Present Your Back To Your Enemy style?
    This is why I'm simultaneously excited for and terrified of a remake. The technical resources will be there to really transition from a teleplay to a *vision*. But can you really capture the magic of Jason Carter, Mira Furlan, Peter and Andres playing off each other?
