- On Sunday, May 19, 2024, Los Angeles Firefighters and Los Angeles Police Officers were dispatched to a distressing scene where two individuals were trapped inside a public restroom stall due to a malfunctioning door lock. The incident, which unfolded in the heart of Venice Beach, drew a prompt response from emergency services after reports that the door would not unlock.
The two individuals, who appeared to be homeless, were confined in the stall for over two hours. In a concerted effort to rescue them, firefighters employed axes and hammers to break through the door, successfully liberating the trapped persons.

They should tear down those individual restrooms that the derelicts are abusing and replace with normal restrooms open from dawn to dusk. They could have a couple of portable adjacent for overnight use. It would be far cheaper in the long run than continuously dealing with these idiots.

I'm surprised that when the firefighters finally got the door open and saw the 2 'things' they had rescued that they didn't slam the door shut on them. Too bad!

They have made the toilets unusable by people that actually need to go to the loo - may as well just give it to them at this point. I can't imagine I would go in there no matter how bad I needed to go. Nasty - just nasty.
Public toilets in some third-world countries look better than this. At least, they aren’t used as shelters by the homeless.

I was born in 1957 and used to hang out as a child on Venice Beach in Santa Monica. We would climb under the dock and watch the fisherman. Days gone by

Such a waste of resources with 2 trucks and @3-5 firefighters per truck to open a door filled with useless human debris...should have called a Locksmith.
Gotta waste that tax money so they can up the budgets next year. 1/3 of the lapd makes over 100k a year. Some on the beat are paid 200k including benefits. Think the chief gets around 300k a year. Most would not believe how much they make, you can look it all up on the california government website what each employee is paid.
