Police Arrest Suspect for Assault at Third Street Promenade

- Santa Monica Police Officers arrested a man on suspicion of assault at the Third Street Promenade on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Earlier in the day, a report of battery was filed near the Third Street Promenade. Downtown Santa Monica Security Officers identified a man matching the suspect's description and alerted the police.
The police arrived promptly and located the suspect near the farmers market, detaining him for further investigation. The victim was transported to the scene by police to identify the suspect. Following a positive identification, the police arrested the man and transported him to jail for booking.

Worked right around the corner from the Promenade on 4th street. Used to be a guy there in a wheel chair with a sign that said "trying to get back to Utah" for about a year and a half, two years. Wonder if he ever made it back.

And when I Got here in 1996? You could barely Walk out there.
I Guess Santa Monica wanting to be "Beverly Hills By the Sea' Has gone to being "SKID ROW By the Sea".

In 1999 a bunch of New York Investors came out here and bought up a Lot of Property From Wilshire to Colorado from 4th to Lincoln.
Now look at that Corridor. The Promenade was taken down by tax increases.
And in 2003 City Hall Started working WITH the Chamber of Commerce to bring in the Big Corporations and Stiff the Mom and Pops.
They are doing the same thing with Real Estate Corps pushing out the Mom and Pop Rentals.
