I picked this up at my local Lowes, I really wanted a Harbor Freight Portland one, but they pulled them off the shelves a couple months ago and they never came back. Now all they sell is the Lynxx cordless battery powered ones, which I do not want. Battery's don't like to just sit, and as seldom as I'm going to use this, it would be a bad idea.
For $49 I think these are a good buy. Other reviews out there are positive, and I'm not using it daily, or to chop down a forest, so I feel it will late me a long time.
Any of you have experience with one? Comment below! Id love to hear how you adjust your chain, or if the auto tension even works for you.
Enjoy my sons commentary 3/4 the way through the video, haha.

MISS:
- Does not come with bar oil.
- Auto tension seems like a scam, I don't see how it works at all, on
top of that, the way they say to adjust the tension doesn't work
either.
- Mine chattered some on cutting, maybe just the wood I'm cutting,
seems like the bar may flex side to side a little, maybe that's
causing it.
- After use, it seems to still drip bar oil, so do not set it anywhere
nice. It actually leaks alot..

FYI, i read that these leak quite a bit and a good tip was to loosen the cap when you store it. the release of pressure keeps the oil from pushing out when at rest.
I should try that
Worx customer service said that but wasn’t sure whether or not I believed them. I just started emptying the oil from mine since I don’t use it that often.
Just purchased mine today and I got to say wow! For the price at Lowe's is only 50 but for the small work I'm gonna use it it's flawless. Not heavy at all, quiet, awesome fluid for chain visibility, overall great and recommend it.
+Joe's 07 Colorado4x4 4x4 awesome!
Cut 18 cords with mine this winter. It's time to sharpen the chain.
A trick I discovered for the Swedish Torch - Make 3 cuts 60° from each other & 1/2" off-center. This makes a triangle in the center. Either break the center out or let it burn out.
Yes, Harbor Freight told me the same thing and I looked it up same as the guy below I think after your demonstration of the Worx saw, I will get one of those, Thanks for posting !
Awesome!
Harbor freight sells junk as far as electric or battery tools.
I have one of these I've cut 3. 32 inch wide trees to pieces and I'm about to rip 20 feet of log like for lumber with this 8-amp machine works great. It's a little animal I even replaced the bar with an 18in. Just have to not have too many teeth working at once. For me it's a real pain in the butt having a cable around branches but so worth not having to worry about gumminess or oil or gas and all that extra fun stuff. on a real chainsaw. For a once in a while, this is a great little machine worth the money and much more.
I got a Kevlar sleeve that is bright orange and about ten feet long to slip over and protect the end of my power cable. Makes it highly visible and a bit more resistant to accidental damage.
I just bought a 14in craftsmen corded and it does jump alittle. I am cutting small pieces of maple/mulberry for smoking.
Just making sure to pay attention what I am doing for sure. Its got some power behind this little thing
Thanks for the heads up on oil lol I didn't know that till I saw video 😂
Can't beat it for the price. Lightweight, easy to use, easy to replace the bar or chain if need be. Mine hasn't leaked any bar oil at all. As far as the chain coming loose that's a normal quirk for these saws just something that it does. I just check it after a few cuts and tighten it if need be only takes a few seconds not a big deal for me. Overall I'd recommend it for anyone needing a simple basic saw for some lightweight work around the yard.
When you tighten it does it tighten completely or does it keep spinning? I can spin line 30x if I want to and it'll keep spinning. Chain falls off after every 1-3 cuts
I have got a similar one, the oil is not manual though. It doesn't leak and has done loads of work. Cut down an 18 foot tree last year, have done lot's of log and branch cutting. Took a tip from a pro. logger he just uses vegetable oil, I use the same and it's been fine for four years so far.
Veg oil? Good to know. thanks!
Crazy! Is that all chainsaws, or this one/style/brand in particular? Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video-you seem to have better luck than I. I just bought this, and cut through one small branch, (about 5") and the damn chain came off before I even got through it! Put the chain back on, tightened it up and managed to finish the cut. But by then, chain was way loose again. I have a bunch of 10" logs I gotta saw through, but at this rate, I might as well use a hand saw - it will be just as fast as stopping every 1 minute to put the chain back on.
Uploading a new video now! Used it a bunch yesterady
I experienced that also. ..if there is any shaking or movement in the wood the chain constantly pops off or loosens so I've learned to really have the log belted down tight or have somebody hold it real tight and then I don't have that problem.
@@sheila1208 Ive been lucky I guess, never had the chain pop off once, Im super happy with this saw.
Cp Karkow Same problem here, found that when I tighten chain I make sure bar is pushed up instead of straight out. That ended my chain issues.
I really like the 16'' electric chainsaw 4 stars
I really enjoyed watching, lol, best video I’ve seen in awhile! I like Swedish Candles but they’re MUCH easier to make by splitting (faster, too) & you’re the first video I’ve seen make mention of it. Nicely done, i felt welcome & I’m going to share this... there must be some other middle aged woman out there about to use an electric chainsaw for the first time, too!
I’m FOLLOWING! Thanks!
Out of curiosity, what do you think may happen if i were to put hemp oil in it? It’s thinner than motor old, less viscous...?
I’m so tempted!!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.
@@PersecutionRests Im sure itll be fine, itll probably leak out faster, is my uneducated guess.
Is the tensioner supposed to keep spinning? It does tighten just a little but it keeps turning if I keep turning it. The chain also falls off after 1-3 cuts.
I'm up one yesterday and every time I made it cut the chain would get loose. I had to do what he did unscrew it pull it to tighten it and retighten it and screw it. Sometimes every cut sometimes every three cuts the chain would get loose. I was cutting 8 inch diameter logs.
Hi , I m beginner & used this yesterday first time. The chain slipped 2-3 times on different occasions while cutting which was quite hectic and time wasting.
Please can advise what could be the reason & how I can avoid from this ?
Guess I made a good buy here at Aruba 😊 the oil thing is a bit strange though ... if you look at the inside of the cap nothing is there or happening when you press ... A well, will test it on my granate apple tree tomorrow ... thing has thorns as big as nails
What type of extension cable should I buy?
What size file do I need to sharpen my saw
On the oil leaking out--I have been looking at a few videos. here are several fixes 1. check the fill cap and surrounding area. 2. check the bottom of the tank--there is a gasket. 3. release pressure on the oil fill cap after cutting. These are just the quick things from the videos I watch
Thanks for the tips!
Just purchase same chainsaw from Amazon. It did not come assembled as I had to install the chain and bar. Have not use it as it was getting dark when delivered. Problem I found right away is it is leaking bar oil. Not just a little. The oil level viewer showed oil filled the reservoir.
I know a little leakage is normal, but this is ridiculous. I place a paper towel under the saw only to have it completely soaked in about 90 minutes. I loosened the cap, the retightened it, replace paper towel with a clean one about 15-20 minutes ago. That paper towel is now about 1/4 to 1/3 full of oil. Can anyone tell me what might be the issue?
Mine Works Great and a 6 inch Cordless to back It up and They both Cut & Clear Brush up to 8 inch Trunks with ease.
I use My Eco Flow EF3 Delta Pro 1300 and River 2 Pro to Power Them in The Forest and here on The Ranch ⛩
Does anyone have the Quick Start Guide for the WG 305 chainsaw that they can send me a copy? Mine was accidentally ruined.
i have one but where i put the oi?l i think is no oil because when amazon shipped to me the box was full of oil was a leak
The oil pumper bulb is a cap
What size file do you use to sharpen your chain?
Ive never sharpened it yet, so Im not sure.
Do u hv to hv the chain spinning when u squirt the oil??
I dont think so
How long after you put it away did it start leaking oil? Other than that, it’s a great little saw.
Same day
Tried my new 305 tonight. Cut good, however, beware it drips oil and now I have oil spots on my new patio!!! Also the tension knob will not turn in either direction by hand. Afraid to force it with a tool and void the warranty but that may be the last resort.
What did you end up doing?
What kind the oil you put
Cute kid. Good demonstration.
I had a tree come down but it's still alive and used my work chainsaw to cut it up so I can move it but it's not cutting that good and I just bought a new chain ...would it have anything to do with the tree being still alive???? why it's not cutting that good?????
I guess a really hard wood would be harder to cut, but a new sharp chain should cut anything, you sure the chain isnt backwards?
Hello the chain suddenly doesn't tighten anymore. the length didn't change . I cleaned it thoroughly.
What kind of oil
use any bar oil
can a small lafy use one without experience?
Its pretty light, I would say yes.
Constantly drips bar oil, dont know if there is a fix
Yep, mine will slowly leak it all out, you almost have to empty it at the end of the day to keep from wasting it.
I read on their website when you store it you want to lay it on the motor so that the bar is in the air not flat on the ground keeps the oil from running back into the bar and leaking out
JohnVH Life that’s what I started doing.
I read putting lithium grease on the gear can help keep it from wearing out or stripping. Dunno.
Good idea
im thinking of getting one, i buy the worx gt weed eater and blow every year, the weed eater gets so much use each year , the heads fail on me.
Might have to pay extra for an extended warranty!
I have the WG305.1 version from Walmart without the chain preattached, and I was able to cut fallen limbs with ease from my 50+ year old pecan tree, but I will say when I first added the bar oil it did leak some, but afterwards was fine. Just take your time, let the saw do the work, keep the chain sharp, and it will do most jobs around the average suburban home. To note I use to sell, and service Stihl gas chainsaws for a living in the early 00's, and still have one(16in bar) which is now relegated to major storm cleanup, or remote jobs, but just got tired of dealing with mixing gas/oil, and the other problems that can come with only occasional gas saw use around my home, so this should serve you well. Far as your Weed wacker and blower, sound like you should step up to something more robust like a Stihl, or Husqvarna, and yes while they might cost more upfront, and have the pitfalls that can come with something gas powered, they are well worth it in the long haul if you truly use them that much.
It's the same as a older 14" Craftsman electric saw.
I would for just once like to see someone use this saw to cut grren oak or hickory, insrptead of old dried out pine!
I can promise they'll be there a lot longer. I cut some oak down to chop for my smoker and well...it was definitely a process. LOL
You could also purchase it and make a video yourself instead of complaining lol
Why? That's not what this saw is for. I picked one up to cut pieces of cherry, hickory, pecan, apple, maple and a few other hardwoods I use in my smoker into 10" logs after they have been split. There are mostly about 5" on diameter and this saw is perfect. If you need to cut Green oak you need a gas powered chainsaw. Know the tools and their capabilities.
Does it come with bar oil?
@2:13
Nope, gotta buy that separately. These things tend to leak when you store them so it’s best to empty the oil from the saw back into the bottle after each use. Other than that, it’s an awesome little saw.
Also, the noise is probably from all those plastic gears.
Keep Jr. away when you use the chainsaw.
But I have that chainsaw & got it for a good deal. Not bad.
I had ordered an electric chainsaw some how got lost in the delivery so far no success contacting worx no real person/chat, or voice mail to leave a message extremely frustrating
did you use a CC? dispute it. Amazon lets you return anything if you got it on there.
6👍
Oregon 54-026 Bar and Chain Oil, 1 Quart on amazon $11.99
Just got it. Not assembled lol. Why im here.
Been using it?
You did not mention at all the chain stop device.
Hmmm, not sure mine has one?
Its the big lever in front of your left hand. If you get kickback your hand pushes on that lever and stops the chain but not the motor. Also called Hand Guard.
Not on mine.
John sorry to go on. Its plainly visible in the video. That big lever you pulled back up for the saw to operate.
Nope. Not on mine. It’s just a plastic piece. No chain stop on this...
Before you buy any electric chainsaw, check to see if replacement brushes are available. If not, as in the case of this saw, you've got a throw away piece of crap.
,,,,JJUST BOUGHT THE SAME MODEL FOR 24.75 ON EBAY
BRAND NEW
25 at walmart today brand new
Great job. Looks like you have a good little helper :-)
He LOVES to help!

*Bought this after seeing🔦 **allabout.wiki/Cuisinart** how easy it is to carve a turkey on Alton Brown's Good Eats turkey brining episode. My friend says it's a game changer! He used to wrestle with the bird and it looked hacked apart, but with this knife he had it carved in no time and got much more meat off. Great!*
I would love to see someone carve a turkey and slice bread with a chain saw :)
Don't care what they say cool videos
Thank you!
is this a demo of exactly what NOT to do using a chain saw?
Ill patiently wait for your review to see how its done, I have time.
Hi Stuart, when I read comments like this by people like you, it makes me even happier I have this account. Like John said, where is your demo sweet sir?
you son is cute, haha
Now in 2024 it cost $61😅
that saw has a safety chain on it which means the chain has saw dust cleaners befor every cutting tooth raised up higher than a tree cutter saw chains have there for making it cut through limbs a lot slower slower than dirt change the chain to a regular tree cutters chain and it will cut through limbs much faster my thought
Lol no safety on your first cut. The 3rd cut was skill full
Thanks!
This all seemed a bit dangerous here, with your boy and dog running around and you touching the blade without activating the safety settings and unplugging!
Also, maybe filming with your boy isn’t such a good idea - he was really trying to get involved and get your attention but you were too interested in the saw.
I’m very aware and had an eye on him. Nothing to worry about.
Hahaha! The young man is clearly aware of what is going on and is just being a good helper.
Not really a good idea to have your son running around while working that thing!
He was never in danger.
@@JohnVHLife Wow, I can't believe someone would say not to have your kid around while working. That's how they learn things. Yes, it's important you watch them and make sure they don't get hurt ,of course. My son was a little MacGyver, now he's a grown one, and knows how to do or fix about anything he want's to, and why , because he was not sheltered all his life. I know his wife appreciates it. Your doing a good as a daddy! It's good for kids. I could go on and on. Thanks for the video!

@@lisatibbs6875 Thank you so much, city people just dont understand how things get done, is my guess. This was 3 years ago and he has never been hurt! I pay very good attention to my surroundings, I know most dont.. Have a great weekend Lisa!
@@lisatibbs6875 I whole heartedly agree with your comment, however I believe there is age for everything. One little trip/slip or fall on one of them tools and there could be no fixing in those children future. Not speaking of sheltering more like practice good safety.
really, you have a little kid running around?
Haha, everyone is so butthurt over nothing. Kid was never close, and I was always aware of his location. The camera doesnt show what its really like.
Hi Stuart, do you not have enough charm to give a lady a twinkle in her eye? That is my only guess why you do not understand how kids work.
@@JohnVHLife He was way too close a couple times. He even touched the blade and grabbed the handle. The dog almost sniffed it when it was running! And using the saw with the log rolling around on a tippy plastic wagon! The whole video made me stomach sick with fear.
I saw a dog with no nose,
How did he smell?
TERRIBLE!
Oh boy... haha
Not very smart turning it on w the kid around!
Get your kid away from a plugged in dangerous tool, please. And the blade he wanted to touch is very sharp.
OK, Here's what's wrong: The '"teeth' that grab the trunk is wide plastic and of no effect on helping theis saw bear thru the work. It should be made of metal and with teeth that will grab the trunk. The tensioning device is a great idea if it would only work. I heard that it is suppose to have a ratchet mechanism that keeps it 'set'. The device seems to turn counter-clokwise when in use. This loosens the blade way too often. I do like the whole price/idea of this saw and just wish the blade tensioning would work better.
Just A Garbage chainSaw
Jesus, I had to stop watching. Get the dog and the kid out of there. That was just an accident waiting to happen. Wasn't sure if the dog, kid, you or all three were going to be injured. Did you not view that video before posting and think that was a bit dangerous, better not post that, I look a right idiot? And to think they let you lot own guns.......
Haha, you people are so clueless. I was fully aware of their whereabouts the entire time. Nobody was ever close to danger. The camera must make things look closer than they are, or your really out of touch with reality. Thanks!
@@JohnVHLife Maybe in your world you had it all under control. 8:23 The poor dog runs in, clearly from behind you.
7:54 The kid nearly starts the chainsaw.
But sharp reactions at 8:50 Sir, I salute you. I don't know, maybe you had a clever set up of mirrors, eyes in the back of your head and a sixth sense. Maybe you can manage to cut wood whilst simultaneously tracking the location and movements of the kid and dog. Maybe consider ear defenders for the boy 4:23 though. Maybe I'm over cautious, but I would not have animals or children anywhere near a chainsaw. Stay safe my friend. Thoughts and prayers🙏.
I appreciate the concern, but nobody was in danger. The camera I dont believe shows how much space there was. Im a very aware person, and always was aware of my surroundings. He has still never been hurt.
If you stopped watching, perhaps stop commenting too. It's none of your business how this person handles things in their life. Your anxiety isn't always relevant or necessary to other people. Maybe you are over cautious or maybe YOU are the idiot here
